I'm looking forward to the fight, but that show is going to blow.
The fight is going to suck too.

Hopefully it wont show Marquez drinking his own piss again... :-X

There's a bundle of nerves just behind your ear, and why those sort of punches are tried to be kept from happening. But given how tight Barker's guard was up the middle, it is what you do...go around it.
But yea, it's a bad place to get hit.

Barker had a tight guard early.
Agreed, unlike Barker, Andy Lee gets hit way too much, Lee would be cannon fodder for Martinez.

I believe Pacquiao blows Marquez away this time, that was then this is now, Marquez has no chance.

So do I.

Barker definately looked hurt and in some pain, I don't believe there was anything fake about it, when he tried to get up from the KD he fell back down, that's when the ref stopped the fight.
Re: Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez vs. Darren Barker Saturday October 1st
Well it wasn't pretty, but I'm glad that Sergio got the win and the knockout. Barker did a little better than I thought, but I hate that keeping the gloves up to his face shit. I know, I know, he's protecting himself from getting hit, but it can make for some boring ass fights.
I really hope some real challenges for Sergio becomes available.

I hope emanuel doesn't put lee in there with martinez yet but seems like he wouldn't mind the fight
Barker was a hard nut to crack the way he was covering up, coming forward, and smothering Sergio's punches. All in all, I thought this was a good win for Martinez and it wasn't easy like a lot of us thought it would be.
I don't know WTF Manny is thinking, I believe Lee would get destroyed by Martinez, Andy better fight one of the other trinket holders if he wants to win a title or wait 'til Sergio turns 40.

I was glad Sergio got the KO, Barker was mainly there to survive.
I was wondering what you thought about Sergio's bloody nose, I bet you didn't like seeing your boy bleeding. ;)
Cotto vs. Margarito coming up in a few months, too bad the fight is on PPV. :-\

I wasn't too worried about his nose bleeding, but yeah, of course I never like to see my guys bleed.
Trust me, seeing Cotto bloodied by Margacheato was much, much worse for me to watch. I had watched it once, and never watched it again. I will be a wreck the week of their upcoming fight, and I know I will be sick to my stomach just before the fight.
Re: Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez vs. Darren Barker Saturday October 1st
There's lot of talk about Martinez vs. Pacman or Martinez vs. Mayweather fight as an option. However the most realistic and "fair" to all might be Martinez vs. winner of that Cotto&Margarito fight. But the question might be: are either Cotto or Margarito ready to face Martinez coz there might not be so big money on table.
Martinez got a dilemma now. He is far superior in middleweight now but he is too short for supermiddleweight. On the other hand smaller taught guys don't want to fight with him. This great argentinian is one example how great puncher might have big problems to get big fights - and big money. Or are germans ready to put millions of euros on table for Felix Sturm vs. Martinez fight? No i don't think so.

I wouldn't worry about it, Margarito ain't shit without the loaded wraps, Miguel is going to get some pay-back and take care of business this time.
cheers

Of course if you are determined to defend youself and don't take any serious risks you propably could reach even the last round in the ring with punchers like Martinez. But on the other hand we have to ask: why was Barker taking this fight? Was his aim to get "honourable UD12 defeat" and have some british "if only i've managed to shock him in xxxth round" talk in media later? Why did he travel to US facing Martinez without serious ambition to hurt Sergio and take to tittle? It reminds me about Clottey-Pacman fight. After that fight Clottey hardly get millions of new friends though he wasn't badly mauled by Manny Pacquaio because his tactic (no risks, just defending himself).
I wonder how many after 6 rounds were thinking that Barker would have had good chance to win the middleweight tittle. Hardly any even in UK.
