Thought alexander in his fight with maidana was far worse by just purely huging, molina was still doing work most the time on the inside, that dq was complete utter bullshit, if he was dqin him for the corner getin inside the ring he shoulda done so on the spot and not after talkin to someone ringside just makes it all look crooked and corrupt as hell. Also gale van hoy had kirkland by a point, wtf??? Seems like this shits become so prvelant in boxing were almost used to it.
Glad to have seen morales finish on his feet, open scoring is a shit idea, and as awesome as morales has been thru his career, doesn't seem like judges ever were on his side thru his career for the most part. Garcia isn't going places based on that performance, erik should call it a day tho because he can still be competive but mst likely will come up short most of the time, and I think you can slowly tell the punch resistance is detiriorating
Short answer: YES
However, I will say this: MMA has a future star in the making. Molina's brilliant use of his head, his grappling and mauling style, his downright TACKLES of Kirkland..... I'm sure there's an MMA scout just drooling at the mouth at the propect of having Molina in the fold. Me... I like my boxing clean. I felt sorry for Ann Wolfe. She sounded like she wanted to go after Molina herself. She shoulda told Kirkland to bring up the knee, bring down Molina's head, and use his own head once in awhile. Hell.... Molina was getting away with it, so why not Kirkland?

Gawd I hope not shaz, we've had enough bad decisions here in Texas lately, maybe they'll get it right this time.
:bag:
I was almost right.
Re: Erik Morales vs. Danny Garcia Saturday night fight thread
Molina's style reminded me a lot of ward's fighting style but lacking the speed and athleticism. I find both fighters extremely hard to watch.
That's not to say that I didn't find Molina completely shutting out kirkland.

He led with his head all night and several times tried to tackle Kirkland. If the ref had any balls he would've deducted a point early in the fight. If I want to see that kind of shit, I'll tune into WWF or MMA. Kirkland was a dumbass for trying to finesse Molina, and instead should've just cracked him in the nuts a few times, or over the back of the head. Maybe THAT would've straighted out Molina.

This was a classic case of letter-of-the-law versus intent-of-the-law that happens in EVERY sport: Flagrant fouls in basketball, roughing penalties in football, balk violations in baseball, etc. By the letter of the law, the ref was supposed to DQ Molina. His corner stepped into the ring; that's a DQ. Now by the intent of the law, the ref could have (should have) let it slide. But nobody would be all disgusted and upset if Molina was clearly losing the fight; it only looks like an injustice because he was winning.
My biggest problem is with Harold Lederman blaming the Texas ringside officials for not keeping Molina's corner out of the ring. Every cornerman knows they're not supposed to get in the ring before the round is over; so what were the Texas people supposed to do, physically hold them back?
Boxing's complete lack of credibility is absolutely one of the major factors in it becoming a fringe sport. Incompetence and outright corruption are so widespread that fans of the sport are actually surprised when something goes the way it is supposed to. I have talked to a number of former boxing fans and MMA fans who cite this as a major reason they do not follow the sport.
