Collazo should have atleast gotten a fwockin draw!
Watch it while sober then, would be my advice. Every single one of you are focusing too much on the last round because Hatton got hurt. Are you forgetting the other 11 rounds? A 2 point round for Hatton in the first.
How did Harold Lederman have it scored? 114-113 to Hatton, I believe. How did Sky have it? Both commentators for Hatton. All 3 judges for Hatton. Collazo is a Don King fighter. You really think they screwed a Don King fighter?
You guys expected too much and Hatton didn't deliver. That does not mean he didn't win though. What about when Floyd lost to Castillo, which he did? Should he have moved back down a weight? Fighters aren't entitled to bad nights?
Honest to God, I have never met a more fickle bunch of people in my life, utterly incapable of stepping back and taking a measured look at the fight.
Rather than considering that Hatton simply had a bad night against a very good southpaw on his first fight at welterweight, he's overrated, should move down a weight and should be out of the P4P list. Nice one, guys.
I guess I was wrong about the Hatton fans no longer bitching about the Castillo fight...
No one is bitching about the Castillo fight. I'm drawing a comparison. Should I not do that when it makes most of the people in this thread sound like hypocrites? My point is fighters are entitled to a bad night and even more so then they challenge a very good southpaw for a world title at a new weight.
It's just your typical knee jerk reaction from people eager to see Hatton taken down a peg.
SPOT ON ;)
Cheers, mate ;D
One good thing that's come out of this is that it's given me the urge to write again. Think I'll knock up an article for the site tomorrow.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Hatton vs Collazo
Weight was biggest factor for Hatton,he didnt look good tonight
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Hatton vs Collazo
Any fighter can win and be shown in the same fight.
What bothers me most is that these flaws I saw in the Magee fight are still there in the Collazo fight which isn't a good sign. I think it's too hard for him to change

Ummmmmm...said I would. I'm not focusing on anyting other than the fact that I think that Hatton looked bad against someone that I have never seen as a fighter before & I expected more from Hatton.
I also said that the knockdown would mean something.
Also...I think the other guy won the fight...& not because his name wasn't Hatton.

Hatton didn't seem to have the snap on his punches that he usually had...& I also said that Floyd doesn't seem to effective at 147 either...now didn't I?
Sure I expected a lot of him...I mean he has been calling out all the big names & Floyd being one...sure I'm gonna expect alot...also I expect alot when he promises a lot...Just like I did from Floyd.

Then you haven't met enough people.
I was takin a measured look at the fight...& from the looks of it...he was losing that fight...Collazo landed a lot more on Hatton than I would have thought him capable of...especially with the people that he has fought.

One thing being overlooked is how good Collazo is. He is a classy, accurate, awkward southpaw. That combined with Hatton's quite blatant stamina problem from the move up was a major headache for him.
Hatton couldn't get the body punches going either, which had a lot to do with the style. As far as Hatton's flaws, he is a better boxer than people realise. The Tszyu fight supports that. Perhaps not in a conventional sense, but he has a good boxing brain. Tonight's fight just didn't advertise it all that well.

Collazo vs. Margarito anyone?
That 12th round should tell you enough about what Judah would have done to Hatton.
Agreed.
That was the first time Hatton has been out lasted by his opponent... and it's no coincidence that he was at welterweight when it first happened.
And just so everyone knows, I'm not having a go at Hatton (I was pretty much neutral, maybe slightly leaning towards Ricky)... I scored the fight 115 - 112 for Collazo and that is including the knockdown in the first. He was beaten, there is no other way around it. Aggression means nothing if you don't throw and land. From around the half way point, Hatton was just walking forward and throwing very little, walking straight into shots from Collazo. He was terrified of the right hook.

Agreed...& IWO...that was a pretty good assestment...it almost seemed that when the KO didn't come...Hatton was a bit...bewildered.
I don't know...that was just a bit too iffy for me.
But hey...I'm a Cotto fan...& I still love Cotto after he tasted canvas twice...so I can see what Hatton fans see in their man.
Nothing wrong with that...but there's nothing wrong with me being skeptical either.

i actually thought collazzo won rounds 2-4 and 5, along with a few later rounds, but i cant argue with a W for hatton, just the one judge who had it a 5 point win

Ok, first of all, that's far too big a post for me to chop and reply to individually. Secondly, it wasn't all directed at you, since you didn't suggest Hatton be removed from the P4P list. I just saw a few people shouting robbery, you being one of them, and I responded.
And if you can show me an example of me being fickle, I'll happily concede my flagrant hypocricy. The thing is I've made a conscious effort to avoid knee jerk reactions and I don't think I've ever written a fighter off after one poor display.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Hatton vs Collazo
I'm English and have been a fight fan for a while as you can tell if you google my screenname. I'm enjoying this new internet thingy, steaming drunk on Duvel beer and eating BBQ chicken and hot hot hot peppers. Hatton lost tonight. If he'd been facing Judah, he wouldn't have lasted six rounds. He needs to go back to 140 and fight the Castillos and Corrales of this world.
He'd be a bad joke against Floyd. He was acting in the ring after the last bell went. He knows in his heart he lost, and his dreams of PFP greatness are over. Never mind. We still have Amir Khan to watch, who looks to be Ray Robinson incarnate ( although half a dozen prospects over the past 20 years have looked equally as good at the four and six round level, let's see his heart/chin/stamina etc first . :) ) and Calzaghe for a couple of more fights. Hatton too for a couple, but his bubble was burst tonight and he knows it.

Hattons stamina faultered because Collazo made him miss and Hatton rarely misses because his opponents are in front of him. Anyone can go 100 rounds on a punching bag what happens when the bag moves and you expend energy missing.
Turns out the fight was BOTH Trinidad Joppy and Pacquiao Marquez. Trinidad Joppy for the early round knockdown, Pacquiao Marquez for the rest of it

That 12th round should tell you enough about what Judah would have done to Hatton.
Aggression means nothing if you don't throw and land.
Thats what I've been telling these Hatton fans who think he'd beat Floyd and the Margarito fans that think he'll beat Floyd. But they seem to think they can throw nonstop even when not landing and getting hit with no effect ::**

The first round 8/10 swung it for hatton.
way more lateral movement needed if he's gonna remotely challenge pbf
hard learning curve that Ricky must learn from
Back and forth like hes on a f*cking skateboard and must learn to change styles off the cuff.
Wicked fight and the yanks must surely love this kinda style.

Again...none of that was directed at you...but you did quote me...I quoted you back...just thought that it was a discussion.
Oh well.
Fickleness is not human nature. You're either fickle or you make a conscious effort to consider circumstances before drawing conclusions. I do not blindly call a fighter washed up once a 30+ year old fighter loses, nor do I question the quality of a fighter who struggles against a southpaw in an entirely new weight class.
I'm not perfect, but I know what I do and don't do. I'd say the same thing even if I wasn't a Hatton fan, maybe not quite so passionately, mind you.

wait a minute...
boxrec doesnt have names up yet but it says 115-112 | 115-112 | 114-113
i thought that means that either they got it wrong or one judge did a good job and 2 were questionable...
i see no need for anyone to be blacklisted tonight tho

SUNDAY IS MOTHER'S DAY...LOVE YOUR MOTHERS...BUT NOT...TOO MUCH LOVE... :-X
well, in summary a lot of questions raised by that performance....lets be fair to ricky though, it was after all just one fight. if he can go away and come back improved then thats all i can ask...
hatton is still for real and he can accomplish great things, lets not be too quick to condemn him on this...
collazo was an unknown quantity and now we know his worth...

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Hatton vs Collazo
Although Hatton has been very clear on not wasting time, since he doesn't intend to stick around for much longer than 3 years at the most, I think he should look for an immediate rematch and lay any doubt to rest. Two reasons: people will never allow him to forget that fight and Collazo is no longer an unknown quantity. Hatton knows exactly what he's dealing with now and I'd fancy him to end any debate in a rematch.

agreed. i wouldnt mind seeing a rematch...it would clear up all uncertainty...
if hatton doesnt want to waste time, then he shouldnt give performances that leave results that are too close to call!
