I've read where Quebec City is on the verge of landing another team....that would be great for hockey IMO. Would love to see the Nordiques back in the NHL.

We'll see what happens with that. I heard Las Vegas and Seattle were in the mix too. I'd be more excited for a Las Vegas team, although I have no idea if people would take to it there.
I always get more excited about new American cities getting teams so it expands hockey's influence in America. You don't have to sell hockey to Canadians, we're already fully invested. Getting new American hockey fans (especially in the southern states) is always good.
Hurricanes, Panthers, Lightning, Preds, Dallas Stars....I think there are enough teams in the southern US. Atlanta has tried twice (Flames and Thrashers) and shouldn't be allowed a 3rd bite at the apple.
Virginia might could use a team other than the Caps which they share with Maryland, but I don't think they have a big enough city that's far enough away from DC to handle it.
Yeah fuck Atlanta, they stink. Las Vegas would be pretty cool though I think. 30 teams is kinda enough already though. The Coyotes will be relocating soon by the sounds of things, so they should all fight it out to see who gets them.
Or maybe they should expand to Mexico, get a team in Tijuana. Strap some skates on those Mexicans and watch them go. Like Luis Mendoza!

The Coyotes should be moved to Vegas
Jack Eichel sent a wrister through the fucking net at practice the other day....oooooh man, thing of beauty!
Niiiice. They missed out on McDavid but got themselves a great prospect all the same.
Im going through hockey withdrawals so bad. Last night I listened to a Bobby Hull interview done by Christ Jericho (whose dad played for the Rangers). It was a pretty cool interview! He goes into detail about when they figured out putting a curve on the stick would allow you to shoot way harder, a lot of NHL history, jumping ship to the WHL and getting blackballed from the NHL and international competition... pretty cool interview if anyone's interested
TIJ - EP148 - Bobby Hull - Talk Is Jericho
I know there is talk of a London franchise for the NFL...is there any talk of an international team in the NHL? I imagine Scandinavia or north eastern Europe might be potential destinations in that regard.
i don't think so, a team in blighty would be the only one that brings in the huge money to make it worth looking at, and there are 82 games in a nhl season and they play every other day so I think it would be impossible to have a transatlantic team..
Next to get an expansion team is apparently las vegas :S
I can't see it happening, unless it was somewhere close like Mexico. I think it's a bit more feasible for the NFL to have a team overseas, where they only play 15 games each or whatever the number is. When you're talking an 82 game schedule with 40 home games, that's way too much overseas flying. I guess the closest place that would make sense would be Sweden, and even from an east coast city like Boston that almost 4000 miles of flying for a game. Doesn't seem very cost efficient.
Quebec City have applied for a team
Montreal and Toronto
The Habs signed Alexander Semin....1 year, $1.1m ......suckers
That's his last chance right there. If he stinks this season he's out of the league like Dany Heatley.
Much better to pay him 1.1 than 7 million like the Canes were.
canucks trade Bonino, Clendenning and a 2nd round pick to the penguins for Brandon sutter and a 3rd round pick :S... no idea if this is good or not
That sounds like an awful trade for the Canucks! I don't think a 1 for 1 Bonino for Sutter trade would have been good for the Canucks, let alone Bonino, a young D prospect and an earlier pick!
I dunno... I could be wrong but that sounds like a horrible trade.
That same GM from Pittsburgh traded Sutter when he was GM of the Canes
Yeah I could be wrong, maybe Sutter will thrive in Vancouver. He's a quality 2-way centre who does good work in the defensive zone too, but I don't know what he does that Bonino doesn't.
Haha same! I have a few die hard habs fans, it sickens me haha
Speaking of the Habs, our city now has their farm team for at least the next 2 or 3 years. Booooooo
St. John's IceCaps reveal new jerseys - Newfoundland & Labrador - CBC News
1 year and 1.1 million might be a great signing for montreal.... It's short term and fairly low money so it's an acceptable risk incase he turns crap but I have a feeling semin might turn it on this year and fool some people into giving him a longer contract :S
Played a game last night, my team had a goalie and 5 skaters, we played iron man hockey 1 long ass 60 minute shift. The opposing team had about 8 players and we dogged them all night! 9-6 we win, I got to play center (my favorite) and I scored 2 goals + 1 helper as well for a 3 point night. The team we played were no slouches either, very good skaters we just played the better game.
Youch, no shifts, that's rough. That's going to make for a lame game!
I guess they were good by American south standards. You punks would get smashed by any Canadian rec team, let's be honest.
It was a fun game albeit my team DID make strategic use of icing.
When I say good skaters I mean good for the league I am in they weren't world beaters by any stretch, just athletic and had good stamina. I'm not thinking we're a great team or anything I just play because I love the game and it's a lot of fun. I wish I had half the ice time you hosers are afforded....then I WOULD have been a really good player.
Maaan if they were taking shifts and playing against 5 guys on the ice for 60 minutes, and they lost, they had to be the drizzling shits. Or maybe the yanks just don't play with the same intensity, I only play pick up games with some boys from work but after a hard 1:30 shift I'm heading over to the bench to grab some air.
It's the French Canadians you have to watch out for. I never met a frog who couldn't play his ass off.
They didn't have much help from their goalie and to be honest we parked the bus on them. We packed the center and pushed all their attacks wide to help out our goalie. We slowed the pace at times but also our transition passing was really solid.
The league I play in isn't the cream of the crop of talent down here, we actually do have some pretty good players.

...I mean that's a pretty fucking big deal for a hockey team from North Carolina
That's cool, it's such a great sport and fun sport to play. I hear now even the Chinese are starting to get into it.
Canes Acquire Versteeg, Nordstrom from Hawks - Carolina Hurricanes - News
A little wheelin' and dealin' done by the Canes....I think Versteeg will be a big help!
In the UK strategic use of icing means this

Season starts TONIGHT! Any predictions for the season??? Awards? Cup winners?
So there's that much excitement so far?
Well the Canes have finally started winning! They play the Kings tonight and should get beat, but I'm hoping everything has clicked for the boys and they can have a run of success to get up the standings.
