Since we are deep in this...discussion...this is something that I said elsewhere along the same lines...maybe this will clear up my statements that seemed to have shocked you out of reality. ;D

Again...yes to defeating Jones. Not sure about the Nard.
Please note for the record...as you often do. ;)

Wright's defense would give Kess hell.
Having seen how your train of thought works over the last year or so...let me go ahead & say that I think that Kessler would beat Taylor if they fought & since Hopkins has expressed interests & moving up to 200lbs...I didn't include him in the discussion. :-*

JT...I'm not sure that Calzaghe's fans are saying that he's a world beater...every man can be beaten.
I'm sure when you were riding high on Lacy that you didn't see anyone within miles that could be him...did you? Be honest.
I really don't need to ask for an answer because I am sure that you thought Lacy was a world beater, yourself.
I know that I did.
Problem is...what's good for the goose is good for the gander...
Joe had a tuff night...he didn't get hammered into submission, he didn't get knocked out, he didn't get dropped, & he managed to get his shots off & he kept his title.
We all know that none of the above pertains to Lacy...so I can understate you being slightly bitter...but the facts are that Joe is the real deal & he has been for 42 fights now.
Rest assured...when or if Joe loses everyone will low ball him just like they did when Jeff Lacy got his a** handed to him & you can jump right on that boat...until then...just enjoy the performances. ;D
Fair enough My friend...When Lacy got BEAT DOWN I wasnt bitter...I was Heartbroken let the truth be told..
Again I'm gonna be a broken record here....I just get irratated when people(NOT YOU ;D) will trash Floyd Mayweather jr and call him a record padding bum who carefully hand selects his opponents Like Roy Jones did...Well look at the records regardless of general U.S Boxing fans lack of knowledge for most european fighters Line for line compare Floyds resume at 28yrs old and Joe's at 34yrs old and lets talk about quality of opponents..I would give Floyd the slight edge in that department and I would love to respectfully converse with anyone who may think otherwise.. Floyd has 6yrs to go before he is Joe's age.. Again so why is Floyd regarded as a fraud but Joe is the Prince of wales.. Not to mention Roy has a few hall of famers on his record...Thats why I comment on these things...Joe is great really great but again step it up pleaseeeeee!!!!!!

Good post.
Now let's unsticky this mess & get ready for another weekend of fights.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Calzaghe vs Bika
Ok my thoughts.
wacko you make a very good point on how nobody knows how good Bika was and how much of a tough time he gave Beyer.
But, that only makes Joe look worse imo. Because given all that you've said that only furthers the notion that Joe should have came better, and fought better then he did. The way he fought it looked like he came in thinking he would blow Bika out and if Joe was as disciplined as a Hopkins or a Roy Jones Jr or even a Floyd Mayweather, then he would have came in the best Joe Calzaghe he could possibly be, especially given the points you gave on Bika.
You're right, nobody knew how good Bika is and he does have good credentials. All the more disappointing that Calzaghe didn't come in the best he could imo.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Calzaghe vs Bika
sometimes your flat on fight night, it happens in boxing, for some reason things just don't come off right. The thing one has to do is find a way to still win the fight, and Calzaghe did that. I was impressed, Calzaghe was flat no question but he still found a way to dig deep and win the fight. Bika was very determined and motivated. It's a good win O0

Agreem bad performance though.
But why do some fighters get the benefit of an 'off night' while other fighters that are less liked get the 'overrated' rating ??? Shouldn't all fighters be attuned to an 'off night' or two?

I think its a tributed to the history of a fighter. Calzaghe is usually very impressive, has a bad night and still wins. take fighter B who might never have ever been tested , steps up and gets his ass kicked. its easier for one to assume fighter B was just overrated because he has no history. see what I mean? if fighter B had a history of winning tough fights and thus has one bad outing most people would feel he had an off night. That my opinion

Floyd looked bad against Castillo.
Hopkins looked bad & lost to Jones & Taylor.
Roy's been knocked out twice.
Calzaghe looked bad against Bika & a few other people...he's only human...& unlike Jones & Hopkins...he's still undefeated.
If everyone took bad performances as coffin nails...95% of our favorite fighters would be buried 6 feet under.
Again...I keep saying to everyone...enjoy undefeated fighters as long as you can...the minute they lose...everyone buries 'em.

Here's an example

As far as Hopkins and Roy go, bringing up Taylor and Roy getting knocked out, imo both Hopkins and Roy were past their primes. Hopkins lasted longer because his style didn't depend 99 percent on his reflexes imo.
And didn't Floyd have an injured rib against Castillo? I don't know the whole story there.
Calzaghe is supposed to be in his prime and didn't seem to have an injury against Bika. I just think Joe fought down to the level of his opposition and didn't look as dedicated which isn't a good thing as far as long as he should be. Thats all I was saying.

Before I say this...I want to make it clear that I'm not lashing out at you in particular Majesty...but I want to address the above statements you made.
Hopkins also had a hard time with a few others...Echols comes to mind first. Floyd had spots of trouble with Corley...rib or no rib...he had some trouble with Castillo...again the point is that all fighters do not ace it in every fight.
If injuries do excuse fighters...Calzaghe is always fighting with brittle hands...which this go around bothered him again...but it's no excuse.
Now...that being said...all this shit talking about Calzaghe is dispicable.
I'm not shittin you people...it's ridiculous.
Truly...I just don't get some of you. It's almost as if you just want to hate for the sake of hating.
You all act like Calzaghe lost or that this was the worst performance that all of you have ever seen.
Maybe it's because he totally annihilated Lacy & didn't just blast Bika out of the water...either way...it's still bullshit. The guy's undefeated in 42 fights & he guts it out no matter what to gain the win.
Watching the fight again...there were only a couple of rounds that I thought Bika actually won...while I did think he put up a fight...in the end...he still lost. I just can't believe that people are tearing into him over a win...especially one that wasn't covered in controversy.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Calzaghe vs Bika
Lots o' good sense all around here. Without putting Calzaghe down, I will just say - the point has been made that he fights down at the level of lesser opponents. (That could be taken as a put-down of Bika, but let it stand.)
Fair enough that it works for him, and so I won't really judge him for it.
Still - he shouldn't oughta do that. It's rather a fool's game.
He should stay in his best style and fight from there, so the distinction between him and the opponent is made clear during the fight. Fight down and you might get caught, because you allow the opponent to fight a familiar fight.
Sure, you can say that in the end all that matters is that he is 42-0. And from one perspective, that is right. And I have no business dictating to Joe how he should approach fights.
But it's my opinion, to which I'm entitled, and I'm sharing it with you. Obviously you have to adjust from one opponent to another, but this is not the same - fighting down.
He shouldn't oughta do that. It's not very Hopkins-like. And, from one way of looking at things, that makes it wrong. Heh. Science it up, Joe. Out Box. Don't just win. Figured you could. But that doesn't make for great fights, for the memorable clinics, for the building of the legend. Don't you want those things too, along with the W?
'course, ain't none of my business ... can't argue with 42-0 really ...
