I dont like A clockwork Orange so much either. I think that is completely overrated too.
I've never seen A Clockwork Orange but i heard thats a really weird film, with some disturbing scenes in it. So i'll doubt i'll ever watch it because it doesn't sound like my type of film.
I actually quite like the book, but it doesnt translate onto film for me. Kubrick did much better work.
I generally like both the book and the film, but one thing I dont like, the cutting out of the 21st chapter,in both the original American release of the book, and the film.
The whole point of the original book as it was written, was that redemption cant be forced, but even the biggest hard ass, will redeem himself,if only because he's getting to old for this crap
Re: Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked
star wars aint overated
best film ever
the effects for 1977 are outstanding, its better than some effects 25 yrs after if not longer, this cgi stuff is utter wank dont look real
the first film i ever saw at the cinema was bloody star trek now that is overrated the movies all the shite series everything
Re: Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked
I agree that the Lord of The Rings movies are all horrible and they are long and boring...just when those little trolls get to the top of one deadly deadly mountain peak, they look out and see the next deadly deadly mountain they must climb and it's way the fuck away in the background......bastards!
Star Wars is a masterpiece the original trilogy are great movies...the newest 3 are ok I guess, there was no way they could live up to the hype...IMO they should have spun off on a character like Boba Fett...it would have made it easier to meet expectations and different than the original trilogy.
Clockwork Orange is a great movie...loved it. I haven't read the book though it's probably why I'm not as harsh of a critic of it. I would like to read it one day along with 2001: A Space Odyssey parts of which I hear would have been extremely difficult to film even today much less back when it was made.
Re: Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked
I liked Fight Club, it didn't change my life but it was good.
Kind of the same way I feel about Chuck Pahlaniuk novels in general. I like them, they wouldn't make a top 50 favorite books list but they're pretty good.
I liked the Lord of the Rings. It was goofy, but I appreciate the fact that they didn't try too hard to act like Frodo and Sam's relationship was solely platonic.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Just didn't get the whole thing I mean it was a good movie but I not great

I was furious when I tried to watch this.
I rented the DVD and when I put it on, the first thing it said was that it was a criminal offence to watch pirate films.

Why is this in the MMA Section?
Re: Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked
Can I add Moonlight to this thread. I didn't watch the whole thing. I turned it off when the 2 guys started kissing. But what I watched was boring as f-ck.
Re: Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked
Matrix 2 and 3 (evenif Roy Jones was in it)
Re: Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked

"I understand that this war was dominated by brave male soldiers. I get that. But the packaging of the film, the general vibe, and the tenor of the people applauding it just screams "men-only"—and specifically seems to cater to a certain type of very pretentious man who would love nothing more than to explain to me why I'm wrong about not liking it."
Yes why isn't a movie like 'Dunkirk' told from the woman or PoC perspective....I mean they were on Earth too, doing other stuff, but still.

Marie Claire, my god man who cares ;D. Writer of review is historically inept. It looks as though this dope is getting ripped a new one in response to those sentiments and frankly, jolly good!
Have you seen the movie? I have it on top of my must see list and for the record one of our girls from work...all of 20 something...went to see it on opening and wept like a baby she said. More importantly she finally learned what decade WWII actually occurred in ;D.
