Penalosa deserves the respect, he never stopped trying even though he wasn't doing much, and his ability to take a punch was awesome, but Juanma showed that he has future p4p written all over him
Which is why, while it would be a good fight, I don't think Jhonny Gonzalez would last as long as Peñalosa did against Juanma. Gerry KO'ed Gonzalez with a shot to the body a couple of years ago. Judging from Juanma's attack to Gerry's body last night, Gonzalez would have that much more to worry about.

i think Lopez would take Gonzalez but i don't think we can compare the Jhonny of today compared to the one that Penalosa beat, he was having issues with the weight and he had just lost the biggest fight of his career after nearly having it won (Vazquez), he seems to have gotten his confidence back and is a different fighter at super bantam, plus Gonzalez is a harder puncher and he carried his power when he moved up in weight, should be a great fight

I'm TOTALLY excited about Lopez. Everyone knew he could punch. Last night he showed tremendous stamina (throwing over 1000 punches in the 9 rounds), and good chin (he took some good shots from Peñalosa). To me, he's the complete package. I just hope he hangs around at 122 long enough to clean out the division (Gonzalez, Vazquez, whomever), before he moves up to 126 and beyond.

It's just unfortunate that there's always some a$$hole proclaiming Peñalosa was raped for 9 rounds... I disagree on this one coz I believed Peñalosa was fighting from the opening bell until the stoppage and he never ran away from JuanMa...

I still saying that Juanma Lopez is the best in this Div. , that probably can have some challenge with Caballero , Vazquez , Marquez and Gonzales , of course he could , but is good now to analyze of how would be a fight with each of them , i think Penalosa was the big test for Juanma , who could exploded everything on Juanma , his Stamina , consistence in amount of punches and putting pressure until the end..................

LOL what a hater...I give mad props to "Fearless" Gerry for bringing his legendary toughness and condition, but IMO anyone else on that division wouldn't take that kind of punishment.
Every damn body hook impacted Penalosa's body like a damn bomb, and they clearly were hurtful cause you could see Penalosa several times getting his knees buckled by those. So IMO no one would have taken that kind of punishment.
As for Juanma, he showed stamina, chin and some ring saavy inside fighting, so he looked pretty damn good for you to be hating on such a dominant performance.
So, if u were expecting a Penalosa win, BOO HOO mthafcka!!!! LOL JK
