De Gale's victory is the greatest since...... Kell Brooks beat Porter.
De Gale just doesn't do it for me. He packs a decent punch and is clearly very awkward and skilled ...... but he comes across as a right arrogant twat and I find his style pretty boring.
Has anyone else noticed that he only ever throws punches when both feet are flat and planted on the floor? He has good balance and that makes his punch economy good, but it does seem that he can be outfoxed by someone who moves him around and refuses to let him 'get off'.
De Gale knockdowns came from no where and I was frustrated he did not capitalise but he got the job done.
Haven't seen the fight, but have to man up, . I Picked Dirrell.
I'm blown away. Is Direll not world class? He is fast has pop or is Degale world class?
Is there a future for Dirrell on the world stage from what you guys saw?
Damn Andre.
Dirrell is a world class boxer and he would beat Abrahams to win a title but the other champions are better than him at this moment in time. He can come again like his brother. They need to be active and fight better quality fighters if they are serious about winning the titles back.
Ok I watched it.
Dirrell couldn't time, evade or counter Degale's looping right hand. It's not a straight left, like say...Pac's left hand which is straight as an arrow.
Kinda like Calzaghe punches: hard to determine where the punch will land.
I had Dirrell pegged to win...until the 11th, 12th rounds.
Chris Byrd and Andre's grand pappy imo don't mix well and as an end result didn't tell Andre what he needed to hear.
12th round, when I heard Byrd taking about a jab?
Are u kidding me?
Some one like Freddie Roach for example has told Pac and James Toney: u need to put this guy on his ass.
Our When Bouie Fischer was with Hopkins would say in the final round, Son, you got to close the show big.
Dirrell NEEDED to hear that.
No doubt in my mind, Andre may have had to contend with that one screw ball score card, but the other two were on the money.
Andre lost that fight because Degale wanted it harder in the 11th and Andre just posed in the 12th.
Decent fight, but not great.
Degale is a good fighter who will lose in the next few years. He is unorthodox, but is no potential great.
It is said that De Gale trained for 9 weeks in preparation for this title fight. So he may have over trained which could be the case as he did tire and slow the pace down drastically in the mid rounds. He certainly was more aggressive at the end of the fight and that seemed to have clinched the title.
Groves is up next to win a title in the USA. We seem to be making a habit of it now. :)
