But I firmly believe, even when I like a boxer, you have to praise when it's due and criticise when it's due.
I don't have anything against Wlad, I don't dislike him, there are a lot of things I respect about him. But his time can't go on forever, and once that clock starts ticking fast, it's impossible to slow it down.
Completely agree with all of that and yeah Wlad is a lot closer to his 'Sell By' date than his Prime right now....he's on borrowed time not in just the heavyweight division but in boxing in general. I think he's still got a few fights left, but we're going to have to see him actually have some fights before we can judge if what happened vs Fury was a perfect storm of a fluke or the new reality for the guy.
Guys like Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are exactly where Wlad was when Lennox Lewis was king, it'll be very interesting to see how things play out and I for one wouldn't be opposed to an Undefeated Anthony Joshua fighting an Undefeated Deontay Wilder for the Undefeated/Undisputed Heavyweight Championship....of the World (in my Michael Buffer voice). I think THAT fight could really spur on a renaissance in boxing and they're young enough to have a few bites at the apples if the first fight between them is a good one....I really like the style matchup too a tight muscle bound clinical boxer and a loose wiry power punching gunslinger. It would be a beautiful thing for the sport.
Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
Wlad should take AJ sooner rather than later as AJ is relatively inexperienced and will only get better whereas Wlad is getting older and nearing retirement.

Absolutely or Wlad could do as Lennox Lewis did and just wait it out and retire without fighting him.
The likelihood of Anthony Joshua and/or Deontay Wilder remaining undefeated is next to 0

Its all an act! It's to make a Price fight more acceptable.
Anyone nes who took in Hearns rubbish and swallowed it hook line and sinker needs a word with themselves;D
There are more obstacles involving Fury fighting anyone as he has a suspended licence due to drugs and health. He couldn't handle the pressure of the title so lets see if a real fighting champion can be found.
Lets just be patient and we will find a good champion who does cry at criticism from the media and turn to drugs.

Yeah, the guy who will go down as the WORST champion of ALL-TIME.....dude couldn't even make 1 single solitary title defense, not a 1 and it was a rematch...you'd think he'd have enough confidence in himself to at the very least handle that but nooooo.
Gypsy Warrior indeed....at war armed with his trusty razor blade and mirror chopping up lines
Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
What a joke.
The real heavyweight champion of the world has his IBF belt taken off him, even though it is physically impossible for him to follow their wishes. He would never have got the shot against Wlad if he didn't agree to the rematch clause.
The real heavyweight champion of the world then acts like an idiot, is subject to a politically correct media witch hunt and then crumbles under the pressure of being champ.
That oily grinning second-hand car salesman Hearn spouts shit about a fight that we would all actually like to see happen... then the Alphabet Boys revert to type and split up the titles to maximise their sanctioning money.
Instead of seeing two of the best four heavyweights in the world fight each other .... we get two untested nobodies fighting for the WBOffal title, Joshua defend against china chinned Price, who doesn't believe in himself any more. Wilder is still injured, and then we somehow have Haye in the picture .... WHAT HAS HAYE EVER DONE TO DESErVE A SHOT????
Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
When you lay it all out, this indeed has become about the worst case scenario, all four belts are being contested in about the weakest possible bouts possible. Wlad-Browne(WBA), AJ-Price(IBF), Parker-Ruiz(WBO), and with Wilder still out Stiverne-Povetkin for the #1 WBC slot. Its possible we won't get one really hoped for clash anytime soon. Luis Ortiz would be a great opponent for any of these guys, I don't even mind seeing Haye in the mix if he actually wants to fight.

Fact is he has no boxing licence and has drug and health problems.
He also has been stripped of the titles , I'm not sure what a sig is but I'm sure the people at your youth club know.
Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
Unfortunately we all know how boxing works. We can all see that the division has the potential to ignite, but let's just watch, those big fights won't get made. You can't even get the best of British level fighting each other because they don't want to lose their place in the queue.
There is so much money to be made without the risk of losing in the big fights, that promoters more than fighters don't want to take that chance. There's nobody out there that dares to be great! It's not just the HW Division either, look at the WW's, Canelo/Golovkin etc.
I blame the weak as piss and mainly corrupt "Governing" Bodies. They don't govern shit.

The only reason I said we should move on is that it may upset fury and he may think its a witch hunt and make him cry. It may also make him depressed and force him to take more cocaine , do you really want that ?
Remember he hasn't got a licence or a title so we should respect his privacy and let him dry his tears and recover.
Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
Anyone would think this thread was about a retired boxer the way Al is going:rolleyes:
Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
Fury had his 15 minutes of fame, and should be given some credit for it.

Re: Joshua v Klitschko edges closer - December 2016
Was confident in Joshua, but weary of him fighting Wlad a bit, even now. Was best fight possible though in the division outside of Luis Ortiz.
This is bullshit if they are all going to circle jerk with lesser fighters for the trinkets.
Par for the course though.
