Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto
Sounds like two decent, if slightly one-sided fights, I should have stayed up but the superheavy is off the booze and saturday night tiredness put me down in the hay before 1am. Disgraceful I know.
As for this:.....

Peak activity for the Leonedis Shower
In the 2007 Observer's Handbook of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, meteor experts Margaret Campbell-Brown and Peter Brown indicate that this year's peak activity should occur on the night of Nov. 17-18. They cite 4:00 GMT Sunday, which corresponds to 11 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. PT on Saturday evening.
This is the moment when Earth will be passing closest to the orbit of the long-departed comet, and when our planet seemingly is most likely to encounter some residual comet material. This time is highly favorable for those in Europe and Africa. In contrast, for North American observers, Leo will still be below the horizon; they will have to wait until later in the night to catch the best view of the Leonids.
Should be some good S***.
Unfortunately it is now winter in Europe, so there is no chance in hell we'll be seeing anything as the permanent dark haze of rain has settled in and will be around until about March. So if I look up in the sky to see something, all I'll get is an eyeful of dirty water.

Sounds like my boy Soto disappointed. I don't blame him though, from what I've read,Guzman potshotted and moved,Soto wasn't expecting that fight. Both have not won anything from this though.Soto has just become way too high risk, low reward for anyone to fight him and Guzman is going to have to wait for the winner of JMM-Manny which means more inactivity, fight Fana for a paprer title and little exposure or leave the States and fight Valero. I feel for them both.2 warriors.

Don't forget that he's got to fight Alex Arthur at some point because Arthur has the interim version of Guzman's world title. If they could schedule that in around the same time as JMM-Pacquiao (is it penned in for March?) then that would suit everyone for a summer super-fight. Yes, another super-fight. :P

I'm really wondering where Pacstraight had gone. It's becoming lonely here without Pacstraight. hehehe. Could he be one of the victims in the forest fire in california?
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto
Another correct prediction for me. So far, I have no incorrect prediction in the big league. I'm already excited with the Mayweather vs Hatton fight. I'm picking HAtton and if he loses to Mayweather this will be my first incorrect prediction in the superfights.
Honestly, I think Hatton's power will prevail.

I agree. Ice,I REALLY think you should leave the scoring to someone who can see the picture clearly/has better quality or wait until you have seen a good quality version of the fight. Relying on those streams for a score in unreliable.10 rounds to 2?!?! ???
Also,I CANNOT believe that Guzman rehydrated back to 148?!WTF?!He was almost 2 divisions bigger than Soto and couldn't hurt him?!Dam!
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto
Wow,Guzman was impressive. You can see the similarities with Floyd Mayweather but a big difference was his ability to stand and trade with Soto.He was far more agressive than Mayweather has been for a LONG time.I've mentioned his shoulder roll before,it was superb tonight.
A Guzman-Pacman fight would be good, but if Guzman can defend like he did tonight,I think it's going to be a LONG night for Manny. Soto's punches are short, sharp and accurate. He is not slow either yet he looked slow v Guzman. 2 big weaknesses stood out for me from Guzman, somtimes he leaves himself WIIIIIIDE open when he is exchanging punches and he tends to slap with his right hand.He was very impressive though. Soto was game and has skills but was just outclassed by the better boxer. I hope he continues to fight,he'll get a title shot sooner or later, there are not many fighters at 130 as talented as Joan.

It wouldn't have made a difference in this fight, but at what point does there need to be some rules about the amount of weight someone can add on after the weigh-in?
It's understandable for guys to add on some weight, but 18 pounds is outrageous. That was a 130 pound fight, and Guzman weighed as much in the ring as Mayweather did in a 154 pound fight against Oscar.
I don't think a 10 pound rehydration limit would be a bad idea. Maybe 12 pounds.

Yep. Me too.

Guzman is impressive as hell...& he's fast as fwock. The thing that reminds me of Floyd is the shoulder roll & the way he fires out of it...that & the defense is almost identical.
Especially with his back against the ropes, using the shell and the rolls. I wouldn't mind seeing him move up to 135 or even 140. He clearly has the size to move. There are lots of fights for him if he is willing to move up. I would be interested to see him in against Juan Diaz.

Even though rules like this would have led to possible punishment etc for one of my favourite fighters,Cotto, who hydrated to 155/56 for the Corley fight,I am in favour of it.10 pounds rehydration or go to another weight class. I recall Clottey weighing in at 170 or around that area for the Corrales fight if I remember correctly?! Even though that fight was stipulated for 149 or something stupid, that is RIDICULOUS!
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto
Credit to Soto, I mean he did what he could do but Guzman was always a step ahead. Many fighter would have lost their cool against a showy guy like Guzman. Parts of the fight reminded me of Leonard-Duran 2 but Soto did his best not to show his frusturation. Guzman is really a gifted fighter, a lot of what he does cant be taught...Also credit as much as I hate to say it credit to Floyd Sr. cause he didnt change Guzmans style but he did looked sharper than he did vs. Barrios. He seemed to shake off the rust after round two.
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto
What im saying is that Wacko watched it in good quality and still had the same score as me.
Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds : Guzman vs Soto
Soto won rouns 1,3,and 12. You could argue that 3 was even but he definately won 1 and 12.

Yup,Zorrita must be credited for sure,he never gave up although he did slow down in the middle rounds. He showed lots of heart and is still a good fighter imo but Guzman shined. It's a testament to his skills that his best performance came against the best opponent he has faced, and this is coming from someone who is not a huge fan. I respect him though. He looked ALOT sharper han he did v Barrios.
I don't think Guzman's performance made Manny Pacquiao want to fight him(I know OumaFan,Fesnter have been wanting to see this fight and I'm inclined to agree,I think Guzman/JMM/Juan Diaz all have good shots at beating Manny but especially Guzman due to this lateral movement, speed of foot and hand)_.

I though the first 2 could have gone either way,Guzman won the majority of the middle rounds but I had Soto winning the last 2/3 because all Guzman did was pose whereas Soto was forcing the action and landing the odd punch. I had it 7-5,at worse 8-4 for Guzman. Any less than that would have been giving ALL the close rounds to Guzman.
