Those last 2 goals really sucked.

Brian Boucher? He's been wildly inconsistent through out his entire career. At one point he's setting the NHL record for the longest shout-out streak and the next he can't remember how to stop a puck. The guy definitely has talent, but just lacks the focus to maintain it.
It all comes back to the Flyers D tanking in front of him in that series, before that he was hotter then a rolling dice.
After that he was never the same goalie

He must just have a fragile mentality.

To a degree,I agree. But they really went totally in the tank in front of him. It was almost like they were giving up penalty shots

I don't doubt that in that case it was the defense, but throughout his career Boucher has had moments of brilliance surrounded by long periods of mediocrity (at best). That, to me, speaks of a lack of focus/the proper mental make-up. The guy couldn't have set the shut-out streak records if he didn't have a great deal of skill, he just lacks the ability to be consistent and to actualize that skill for more than a few games at a time.

That one year to get them there,he was freaking lights out.It was just frustrating as heck to watch him never continue it. I mean watching Bouch that year, he was unreal. And then the defense tanks when it really mattered. And then he becomes often pedestrian.
A lot of any sport is mental, and he just never really recovered mentally from that.
Talent can only take you so far, your brain has to be clear as well

Yeah, Pens were pretty outclassed the whole series. But that had those moments that made you think they just MIGHT be able to pull off the upset.
Wings are far and away the best NHL team

Re: Any other NHL fans on the site?

Edit: Didn't see Cortez's post. It's bang on.
