Re: Amir Khan vs Andreas Kotelnik fight thread
Khan better stay away from the punchers. He wouldn't last against Maidana, Torres, Holt, Ortiz. He won't fight them anyway cuz they're way hight risk low reward. But I difinitely see Khan beating good names like Hatton, Bradley, Campbell, Witter, Malinaggi and Urango. Juan Diaz against him would be awesome too!
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
Khan has boxing ability as we already knew , but lets face facts , Kotelnik was a light punching fighter , who won the title from another warren fighter Gavin Rees. So lets judge Khan after he fights a guy who can break an egg with his power. Khan has a glass jaw and thats the truth , Prescott has since been exposed as an average fighter.

Thats exactly what I had, but also, thats what Kotelnik is. Tight guard and not much movement...... Saying that, he would probably be one of the most defensive fighters your likely to come across. I say that most of the rest at 140 won't be nearly as hard to hit flush. I wanna see someone take some flush shots from khan to see if he actually has any knockout power because as of yet I haven't really seen any apart from pure volume.....
You know, one of the things that bothered me a little was when Khan covered himself up, he just kind of tucked away like an armadillo but didn't look like he was watching atall. Maybe that was just me. I'd say tuckin up like that and really not lookin like your payin attention you'd be really open to a cheeky body shot......
Solid performance though for me. I'd given Kotelnik one round poss two.....

Alright they bud,Hatton would have a great chance on KO'ing Khan no doubt.Hatton would just charge him down and cut off Khan escape route.I was'nt too interested when i heard Khan would fight Hatton, but the more i think about the fight happening the more i like the sound of it.It would drew loads of people and would pack out any big stadium over here in the uk.I would go and watch it Live.It would be a great send off for Hatton:)
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
The most impressive thing about Kahn for me was his stamina, fair dues, he went 12 rounds and although according to punchstats his output dropped his movement at the end was fluid and effective.
Bilbo mentioned earlier in the thread that the 140lb division isn't that imposing - Kahn has noone to be afraid of.
I think he ommitted Torres and Holt from his consideration and I feel they both would relieve Kahn of his senses.
There's also Pacquiao, Hatton and Witter at the weight, so I'll find it interesting to see where Warren directs him next.
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
What is the bet that Amir will make a number of weak ass defenses against non-punchers.
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
I think he should avoid any of the top dogs and the power punchers for a few years. Maybe even relinquish his belt, and fight a couple out of Alvarado, Bailey or even Bradley. Keep busy and hone his skills. I don't think anyone can doubt there has been an improvement since he went with Freddie.
His chin looked a little bit more solid at 140. I didn't think he was troubled at any point and even though Kotelnik isn't a huge puncher he does have a bit of power and is a full blown light-welter. Maybe shades of Miguel Cotto who's chin was quite bad at 140 but good at 147. Bit too early to tell but the signs last night we're quite promising (unless you're Miles and you want to see him brutally knocked out).;D
He's 22 at the end of the day, he's still learning. There is no rush whatsoever. As for him mainly hitting gloves last night i should point out that he still landed more than double of what Kotelnik landed. He didn't have to change what he was doing because he was winning quite comfortably. Kotelnik was the one who had to change but he could never get to grips with Khan's speed and movement and as a result, he couldn't do anything.
All in all a good solid win. Kotelnik is a good quality fighter, probably up there with the best at 140 (apart from Pac) so to completely dominate him at 22 is decent.

Well the 1st opponent he fought after the Breidis Prescott fight, was a complete bum who fought Kid Thunder or whoever. If he can't dominate him he should be a postman.
The MAB fight well you know my views on that, MAB was undersized. He had looked terrible in past warm up fights. And was clearly past his prime, MAB was also headbutted and the fight should of been a no contest.
I don't really count that im sorry but i don't, thats just an old legend who's ready for the taking. But he got off to a terrible start, based on a headbutt and could never get in the fight. And was fighting with one eye.
You know my views on the Andriy Kotelnik, because there above. But again i don't see how that fight proves he's ready for the likes of JMM. Let alone beating him which is crazy talk. But if he somehow beat him, i would give him credit why wouldn't i ? its not the same as the MAB fight.
But lets get one thing straight here, this is the first real solid opponent. Amir Khan has fought yes lets give him credit, which he deserves. But lets also not get silly here like your doing, because your a big Amir Khan fan.
I think there's plenty of 140 pounder's who could test him.
Devon Alexander
Junior Witter
Marcos Rene Maidana
Timothy Bradley
Kendall Holt
Ricardo Torres
Lamont Peterson
Mike Alvrado
Randall Bailey
Any of these fights i would be fine with.
You talk sense.
It's hard to get carried away with someone who has been on his arse quite a few times in his career.
The Sky commentators are a fucking joke, they would tell you that shit was great to eat. Amir Khan said Kotelnik was the worst World Champion out there and that was the consensus. Khan was favourite and I fully expected him to win this fight. He won it and I have seen improvements in Khan's game which is hats off to Roach imo.
I think Khan is a good fighter but the hype that surrounds him and the Frank Warren BS that surrounds him too is outrageous.
£15 ppv for Khan is sick. Too sick for words.
I don't £15 is bad value in all honesty. You got the Amir Khan world title fight, three of our top Olympians all fighting and a really intriguing junior middleweight showdown between Anthony Small and Matthew Hall.
That's not a bad lineup for £15, certainly better value than some of HBO's weaker offerings.
come on man might be 3 of your olympians but they are fighting bums, as for Small and Hall it might be intriging but neither has been in with a world class fighter, can you really say thats a ppv undercard? thats friday night fight material at best, as for Khan-Kotelnik been ppv this is just Warren being Warren, didn't deserve to be ppv, heck Khan didn't even deserve a title shot, he'd never even fought at the weight, fucking Warren, as for the fight yeah Khan was good but I feel the next puncher he's in with will ko him, but Warren won't put him in with another puncher not untill he's drained people of money for more bogey ppv cards...wanker
(for the record I got the fight free with my dreambox ;D

Prescott is a monster for his weight.
Khan said so.

they all have a better dig and are better boxers than Kotelnik - so why would Khan fight them?
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
Well, Khan won, some peoples will see it as a good fight for him, some seems to see it as an average performance against an ordinary candidate. Personally, I think that he did bounce back nicely from is lost to Preskiboy, perhaps the best thing that happened to him as far as I am concerned, there is nothing like a good reality check when things seem to be too easy. PErsonally, under ROach, I think that the kid made giant leaps for his age and I think that he has the raw potential to impress a lot in the future, let's see now if his mental will follow the bumpy road and no matter how much we like or hate him, he still won a major title at a very young age and that should deserve a bit of respect at least.

I barely remember seeing more than 5/6 clean shots landed all night mate.
Fair play Amir though on his strap
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
I was watching last night and all i could think of is if this kid had a good chin we would have something really special....but he hasn't and the matchmaking reeks of protection.
i'm not a khan fan but well done to him last night he done a far better job than witter did and deserves credit where its due ;)
hatton vs khan on its way and strangly enough that fight is starting to grow on me.
Re: My Thoughts On The Amir Khan Fight.
It was definitley a good win for Khan considering what happened 10 months ago. Kotelnik is a ring top 10 fighter that beat the guy (all be it very close) that beat Ortiz.....
We all know that Khan has great physical talent and pretty good technique but the one question is how will he react when he is hit solid by a good puncher.....that wasnt answered yesterday because Kotelnik is rather light puncher.
It was a good win but it wont make me run out and buy his next ppv cause he obviously had Kotelnik outgunned and wouldnt press the action to close the show.

More likely vacate, hes mandatory is now against the interim champ Maidana who will brutally KO Kahn.
