Number one Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) forced the corner of previous number four Robert Stieglitz (47-5-1, 27 KOs) to throw in the towel in round six after Stieglitz went down from a big shot. Stieglitz beat the count but his corner had seen enough. Stieglitz tumbles to seventh. Fedor Chundinov (13-0, 10 KOs) moves up a place to fourth. Andre Dirrell (24-2, 16 KOs) leapfrogs from seventh to fifth.
LIGHTWEIGHT:
Number six Denis Shafikov (36-1-1, 20 KOs) stopped unrated Roy Mukhlis (27-5-3, 21 KOs) in the third round. No changes.
SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT:
Number one Carl Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs) survived a major scare rising from two first round knock downs to win a twelve round unanimous decision over unrated Alejandro Gonzalez Jr (25-2-2, 15 KOs). Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23 KOs) advances from third to second after annihilating previous number five Kiko Martinez (32-6, 24 KOs) in two rounds. Quigg dropped Martinez twice in the second round to force the stoppage. Martinez slumps a spot to sixth. Leo Santa Cruz (30-0-1, 17 KOs) shuffles down a spot from second to third. Number four Nonito Donaire (35-3, 23 KOs) scored a second round stoppage over unrated Anthony Settoul (20-4, 8 KOs). Genesis Servania (26-0, 11 KOs) moves up a place from sixth to fifth.
BANTAMWEIGHT:
Number nine Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (44-6-1, 22 KOs) knocked out unrated novice Ibuki Tanaka (0-2, 0 KOs) in the fourth round. No changes.

Jean Pascal (30-3-1, 17 KOs) slips a spot from fifth to sixth after winning a won a controversial ten round unanimous decision over previously unrated Yunieski Gonzalez (16-1, 12 KOs). Gonzalez enters the rankings at number ten. Artur Beterbiev (9-0, 9 KOs) advances from sixth to fifth. Former number ten Thomas Oosthuizen (25-0-2, 14 KOs) exits the ratings.
MIDDLEWEIGHT:
Number ten Billy Joe Saunders (22-0, 12 KOs) kept busy against unrated journeyman Yoann Bloyer (17-28-2, 3 KOs) in an over-the-weight bout. No changes.

So Pascal goes down one beating Gonzales who goes up one in position? Very strange that should happen.
Pascal was demoted because although he got the decision over Gonzalez I felt he would have been very lucky to get a draw. Some have called the fight a robbery. I thought it was close but that Pascal hadn't done enough to win. Pascal was coming off a loss; add to that a debatable win over a previously unranked fighter and the demotion seems fair.Quote:

Like I said I had Gonzalez winning. I have watched the fight numerous times and the best I could give Pascal would have been a draw. The majority of the time I scored it to Gonzalez by a round. I think that is reflected in the rankings. Gonzalez deserved to enter and Pascal was only demoted a spot as I could see the possibility of a draw. But ultimately I thought Gonzalez had done enough to win.Quote:

You could compare it to yesterday's Payano vs Warren Bout. That fight was also close but I thought the right guy got the decision. Warren could have arguably got a draw but the 2 two times I have watched it I thought Payano won. Warren definitely advanced to just outside the 10 along with Rodrigo Guerrero and Lee Haskins, but unlike the Pascal/ Gonzalez fight I didn't think Warren won.

Former Super-Lightweight Champion Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) enters at number ten after scoring a ninth round stoppage over veteran fringe contender Paul Malignaggi (33-7, 7 KOs). Previous number ten Robert Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) exits to make room for Garcia.
SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT:
Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs) is removed as Champion as he is now campaigning at Welterweight and he has not scheduled a defense at this weight within fifteen months.

Shouldn't Walters exit the Featherweight rankings? He missed weight and was stripped of his title last time he fought. He's huge for 126. I can't see him fighting there again
A fighter is considered active in a weight class if they fight within 2 pounds of the weight limit (although a Championship must be defended at or under the weight limit). Walters managed to get down to 127 so he still has until June next year before the inactivity clause kicks in.Quote:

I agree he is big for the weight class but according to his adviser Robert Mittleman he is staying at Featherweight for now.
I can not see Walters fight at featherweight again.
