According to allboxing, Wladimir Klitschko will be fighting Alexander Povetkin in Kiev, Ukraine.

Mariusz Wach is now training without a coach, since his promoter blamed his trainer on the positive PED test results.

Dereck Chisora will be back on March 16 in a ten round fight.

Apparently there are reports in Romania that Manuel Charr will fight Bogdan Dinu on Feb 22. Dinu is a bona fide heavyweight talent, I think despite his lack of experience he might beat Charr.
Povetkin is the one top ten heavyweight that Wladimir hasn't smashed so after he beats Povetkin, he will literally have cleaned out the division, bar no one.
@Freedom - I hadn't heard of this Romanian fella since you mentioned him a while back. I'll make sure to pay attention to him going forward. Some very good fighters have come out of Romania recently with Bute, Diaconu, and now this guy. I'm sure I'm missing some too.

Manuel Charr says David Haye will only run during a fight with Vitali Klitschko, and has no chance of winning:
World Boxing News: Charr: The only way Haye beats Vitali is on a race track!
Quote:
Charr: The only way Haye beats Vitali is on a race track!
WBC fringe world champion Manuel Charr has told WBN that David Haye has no chance of succeeding in defeating full title holder Vitali Klitschko if their proposed bout comes to fruition.
The 28 year-old from Lebanon, who was stopped in four rounds by the elder Klitschko on a cut last year, remains hopeful of a clash with Haye to decide which of them faces Vitali, but believes the Londoner would come unstuck if he beats him to a title challenge with the Ukrainian.
"Haye is fast, but unfortunately he uses his speed to run away when he faces a strong guy like he did in his fight against Wladimir,” Charr told World Boxing News.
“He is a good fighter when he knows he is winning, but I think he would be scared if he fought Vitali or any other real heavyweight contender.
“Vitali Klitschko is the best heavyweight in the world right now, so I have to say; ‘The only way David Haye can beat Vitali Klitschko is on a race track where he can just run away.’ - in a boxing ring he doesn't have a chance."
The ‘Diamond Boy’ is currently hunting his next opponent for a possible bout in February and is confident that he has the beating of the two-weight world champion if the pair ever crossed paths in the near future.
“David Haye is a cruiserweight,” stated Charr. “Even though he knocked out some heavyweights, I still don't think that he could handle my power and my pressure. I am young, I am fast and I can punch.
“I am not saying that I would definitely beat David Haye. All I'm saying is this; ‘Let's find out what happens - I'm ready to go!"
Quick Jabs: Manny Pacquiao in no rush to fight, Glazkov-Scott card could be unwatchable, more | Counterpunch - SI.com
By Chris Mannix
Quote:
• Last week, Main Events announced that heavyweight prospect Vyacheslav “Czar” Glazkov would headline an NBC Sports Network Fight Night show against undefeated Malik Scott on February 23. Now there has been some backlash to the choice of Scott. Despite good size (6-foot-3) and an unblemished record, Scott is rarely, if ever, in an entertaining fight, preferring to jab his way to lopsided wins on the outside against inferior opposition. It’s how his career has gone and, at 32, it’s likely how his career is going to be.
Certainly Scott wasn’t the promoters’ first choice. Main Events thought it had a deal with heavy-handed heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov before he backed out. They it turned to Joe Hanks, Jason Estrada, Travis Kauffman, David Rodriguez, Justin Jones and Franklin Lawrence. Each turned the offer down.
There is plenty of upside for Glazkov (14-0). Beating Scott (35-0) would be a nice feather in his cap. The fear though is that Scott, as he has done his whole career, will use his length, box on the outside and win a boring, unwatchable decision. And for Main Events, which has made Fight Night a success largely by putting together exciting fights, that would be a disaster.
Joe Hanks vs. Richard Carmack is off because Hanks was injured in sparring.
Police have no doubt Tomasz Adamek was drunk when he was in the car accident. He'll has a court date on Feb 14, and he may not be able to fight Kubrat Pulev in the IBF final eliminator.
Amerykański policjant: Adamek był pijany, mieliśmy dowody
Boente: Witalij wciąż nie wie czy będzie dalej walczył
Quote:
Berndt Boente, manager of WBC world champion heavyweight Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs) says Vitali has not yet decided whether he's retiring or not.
"Currently we're not having any negotiations, we're not talking to David Haye, or any other fighter. We are awaiting the outcome of the fight between Chris Arreola and Berman Stiverne. Vitali still has not decided whether he will fight any more or will be focused on politics" Boente said.
Who's wlad going to fight next?? I hope it's somebody decent, but I doubt it!
I don't know. The only qualified HWs are Fury and Pulev, or maybe Boytsov and Adamek.
Tomorrow is the last day for negotiations, it will go to WBA purse bid if they can't agree.
Nicolay Valuev was saying today that Wladimir wants the fight in Kiev and Povetkin's management want it in Moscow.
Валуев: Недостатков у Владимира Кличко почти нет
Yes, it seems Pulev will be fighting Adamek (unless Tomasz is put in jail for a month for impaired driving, which is unlikely). Fury is probably fighting Cunningham.
There doesn't seem to be many options available for Wladimir. Boytsov was offered the fight with Wladimir in November, but his promoter said no so they approached Wach. But Universum is now officially bankrupt, so they may want to cash out Boytsov.
what a mong haye is... i thought he would take the fight v chagaev.... chagaev is made for him to knock out in grand fashion..... seems haye has no intrest in going after wladimir again if he turned this down.... chagaev and then povetkin or it could have been the winner of povetkin v wladimir.... easy route to a klitschko fight ... why turn it down....
ah it seems like chagaev cant fight outside of germany due to the old hepatitis thing :S
I agree Haye is a fool and only has Vitali on his mind. He needs to keep active and get some rounds in. He still could do something in the heavyweight division but he's so arrogant and thinks he has nothing else to prove, which is complete bullshit. He has the potential to make more paydays for himself and be in some great fights but instead he makes fitness videos and goes in the jungle...what an idiot.

James Ali Bashir describes Wladimir Klitschko's sparring with Deontay Wilder:
Tha Boxing Voice | James Ali Bashir Sees Mitchell-Banks Ending The Same Way, Speaks On The Wilder-Klitschko Sparring Session
Quote:
Tha’ Boxing Voice spoke with James Ali Bashir, the longtime assistant of Emmanuel Steward and now the senior member of Stewards camp of fighters. Bashir was very forthright in his views of his camp and the current state of the Heavyweight division.
The always frank Bashir gave a candid view on the set rematch between Johnathon Banks and Seth Mitchell, in which Banks won via a dominant 2nd round TKO.
“Johnathon Banks is a steady professional; he’s going to do what Johnathon Banks does. He’s not going to change; he’s going to be the same guy he was in the first fight. He’s going to look to catch Seth in the mix somewhere and knock him out again.”
He went on to further downplay Mitchell’s prospects and question Golden boy’s decision to schedule the rematch. “As smart as that team is, I think it was a terrible mistake that they even chose Johnathon Banks, he’s a guy that has been boxing with the heavyweight champions of the world for 10 years,” he went on to add. He defiantly concluded, “They are going to get him knocked out again.”
Bashir explained his role in the Klitschko camp, clarifying he’s doesn’t have any direct training duties and eluded “I’m just there as the brain trust, I’m there for strategy side of things,” he detailed. “Johnathon Banks is the trainer and I just assume the position I’ve had all along.”
In addressing the rumors and declaration by American heavyweight, Deontay Wilder, that he got the better of Wladimir Klitschko during a sparring session in preparation for his last fight against Mariusz Wach, Bashir was quick to dispel the claims.
“I wouldn’t describe it like that. Because I was working with Deontay Wilder, he did better than expected. Of course I opened different doors for him to have some advantages,” Bashir said. “In fact Wladimir Klitschko hurt Deontay Wilder, on two, maybe three times in that sparring session.”
The topic then came up of the current crop of heavyweights and weather Bashir felt fighters were being protected in the current climate. Bashir commented that he felt times had changed from previous Heavyweight Generations, referencing Tim Witherspoon and Lennox Lewis as examples of fighters who took on significant challenges early in their careers.
“It’s a matter of timing, a matter of desire. Everybody is so careful nowadays that they would rather have a guy 30-0 fighting 30 cab drivers.”
Bashir’s frustration was aimed at up and coming heavyweights: Joe Hanks, Deontay Wilder and Malik Scott in comparison to Leotis Martin, Thad Spencer, Jerry Quarry, Ernie Shavers Ron Lyle: Heavyweights contemporaries of the past that competed against each other and the best fighters of their era.
In Conclusion, Bashir commented that he felt both Klitschko brothers would see out the remainder of their careers undefeated, but did single out two fighters he felt had the potential to cause some problems, Kubrat Pulev and David Price. In particular he focused on Pulev, commenting:
“I was impressed with Kubrat Pulev because he beat Alexander Ustinov, he didn’t just beat him, he knocked him out, I was impressed with that, I’m impressed with his mental attitude. He has that championship mentality and that’s a big part of boxing.”

Johnathon Banks breaking the mold with his double duty lifestyle
Quote:
Johnathon Banks breaking the mold with his double duty lifestyle
Report and photo by John DiSanto
Philly Boxing History (.com)
World-ranked heavyweight contender Johnathon Banks, 29-1-1, 19 KOs, of Detroit, MI, hosted a media luncheon at Harrington’s Bar & Grille, in New York, a few hours before the big Madison Square Garden championship boxing tripleheader Saturday. Banks, also the head trainer for heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, was anxious to discuss his upcoming rematch with Seth Mitchell (Saturday, February 16th on HBO), but it became clear that preparing for this important fight is just part of Banks’ very full career schedule.
In addition to working his way up the heavyweight ladder, Banks has taken on responsibilities as heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s head trainer. A long-time sparring partner of Wladimir’s, and a product of the legendary Kronk Boxing Gym and trainer Emanuel Steward, Banks stepped into the role as the champ’s trainer in the immediate aftermath of Steward’s recent death. Knowing the Steward training philosophies cold, and being so familiar with Klitschko, after eight years as his primary sparring mate, Banks was the obvious choice as a fast fill-in.
However, there is no plan to change things in Klitschko’s corner, as both Banks and Klitschko like the way things are working.
“I’m passionate about what I do,” Banks said. “No matter what it is, if I’m doing something I love, I’m passionate about it.”
So Banks intends to continue living his double duty lifestyle.
“It’s just that we can’t fight on the same date,” Banks said.
With Klitschko’s most recent fight (W12 Maruisz Wach) now in the books, Banks the fighter is up next. He will attempt to repeat his impressive win over Seth Mitchell next month.
Banks defeated Mitchell by 2nd round TKO in their first meeting, also televised by HBO, November 17, 2012. Banks’ victory in that battle of rising heavyweight prospects was quite definitive. So the fact that an immediate rematch was put together, surprised many, including Banks, who was not aware that the first fight included a rematch clause.
“Rematch? What rematch?,” Banks asked when he was told that Mitchell was considering exercising his rematch clause. “It doesn’t bother me. In fact I like that they are still building him up as the future of the heavyweight division. It makes a better fight for me, knowing that I’m fighting the future of the division. And I look forward to fighting him just like I did in November. It will be a different date, and I expect a different Seth Mitchell, but I expect the same result.”
If Banks can muster a similar outcome in the Mitchell rematch, it should push him further up the heavyweight rankings and perhaps even put him on a collision course with his friend, sparring partner, and boss, Wladimir Klitschko. However, Banks does not anticipate a scenario that would make him want to fight Wlad.
“I can’t think of one (scenario),” he said. “In my opinion, this is not an everyday thing. Fighters have short (career) life spans to do what they want to do in their career. And once you get near the top, you have opportunities to go for what you’ve been dreaming of. But in my opinion, some things are bigger than the sport. In life, there’s really nothing that can replace that value that you set for your family and friends. So therefore, whether it’s a lot of money or a lot of talk, or something else, it makes it hard to go in a certain direction. ”
In other words, Banks will target some other heavyweight title holder.
“In my wildest dreams, I would predict that Vitali will retire to go into politics,” Banks said. “That would vacate the WBC title and allow me to fight for the WBC title.”
Until then, Banks will continue working this very unique situation and seems quite happy being both a heavyweight contender on the move and the trainer of the heavyweight champion of the world. This double duty phenomenon hasn’t happened before, and it seems certain that it won’t happen again. Johnathon Banks has broken the mold when it comes to both boxers and trainers, and somewhere Emanuel Steward is smiling.
British up-and-comer Gary Cornish (12-0, age 25) defeated Tamas Toth (now 4-2) by UD today.

Arreola-Stiverne set for March 9
Cristobal Arreola-Bermane Stiverne fight rescheduled for March 9 - ESPN
Quote:
Heavyweights Cristobal Arreola and Bermane Stiverne will duke it out on March 9 for the right to become the mandatory challenger for titleholder Vitali Klitschko, promoter Dan Goossen announced Wednesday.
Goossen and HBO rescheduled the bout to take place as part of a split-site telecast. While Goossen will promote the Arreola-Stiverne fight at The Hangar at the Orange County Fairgrounds & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif., in one of the HBO bouts, the telecast will be headlined by Tavoris Cloud's light heavyweight title defense against former champion Bernard Hopkins at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Arreola-Stiverne was originally scheduled for Jan. 26 on the undercard of super middleweight champion Andre Ward's title defense against former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. When the main event was postponed to March 2 and later canceled because of Ward's right shoulder injury and subsequent surgery, the Arreola-Stiverne fight was left in limbo until being slotted on March 9.

The co-feature on the card -- but not slated for HBO coverage -- will be junior lightweight titlist Juan Carlos Salgado (26-1-1, 16 KOs) of Mexico in a rematch with mandatory challenger Argenis Mendez (20-2, 10 KOs) of the Dominican Republic.
Arreola (35-2, 30 KOs), 31, of Riverside, Calif., will be aiming to land his second title shot against Klitschko. As the mandatory challenger in 2009, Arreola faced Klitschko but was stopped in the ninth round of the one-sided fight when his corner threw in the towel.
The fight will be Arreola's first 13 months. He was supposed to fight in June, but an elbow injury forced him to withdraw. Then the fight with Stiverne was postponed when Ward-Pavlik was canceled.
"Prior to Chris' injury, he kept a very unheard of pace for a heavyweight, registering five wins in 2011 and a February bout in 2012," Goossen said. "This is the type of determination Chris has shown fighting his way back to his goal of becoming heavyweight world champion. He's been incredible staying in the gym and keeping his weight under control. I've said for years -- he's one of the most exciting fighters in the world, and now with his desire to be in tip-top shape, he's now one of the most dangerous fighters today."
Stiverne (22-1-1, 20 KOs), 34, who was born in Haiti and lives in Las Vegas, will be fighting for the first time in 11 months, since an eight-round decision win against journeyman Willie Herring.
