I realize few people are interested in Klitschko-Leapai. Even as a heavyweight fan, I'm not really looking forward to it myself.
But there are some fine up-and-coming heavyweights like Anthony Joshua, who looked very good today. I'll post a video tomorrow.
I know, Freedom. You're right. Too bad the up-and-coming heavyweights are starting to come around at a time when Wlad is beyond his natural peak and inching his way toward retirement.
What continues to piss me off about Wlad is that he claims to want to become popular in the U.S...... but then continues to fight the Alex Leapai's of the world. And when he DOES get a reasonable opponent, as was the case with Povetkin, he proceeds to stink up the ring sooooo badly that he turns people off. About all you can do is admire his record.... because at this point in time there is precious very little else to admire and cheer for.
well to be fair no matter who the klitschko have beaten recently they just get written off as being crap overrated and just no good, wladimir could keep winning for another 10 years and the guys he beat would be viewed as nobodies. Also the lepai fight is a mandatory defence and all wladimir has left to do is win all 4 main belts so he's sort of got to do what he has to do to keep the ones he has just now.. Although i totally agree about the povetkin fight, ibragimov was dire to watch too... although I think the povetkin one was worse he was just hell bent on grabbing povetkin even when there looked to be no reason at all, it was weird...

Anthony Joshua looks very similar to Frank Bruno with how he fights....here's hoping he keeps developing and doesn't lose focus on boxing when he gets a little celebrity about him.
As for everyone talking about Wlad, sure he can make a fight boring, but the guys he fights can do that as well. The Povetkin fight was a little boring but that is how you handle a pressure fighter that is constantly bobbing and weaving trying to get in close. Use the 1-2 to keep him at distance, if he slips the jab, quickly close the distance to nil so he can't land anything. vs Sultan, Wlad just had no target to hit. Sultan crouched down and gave Wlad no target, Sultan was loaded up for a counter punch but Wlad wasn't going to overreach when victory was his just by maintaining a steady pace, at that point Sultan has to try and win...which he never did. A lot of Wlad's troubles holding an audience or exciting an audience stem from his opponents' lack of desire to win...look at David Haye for example...he just wanted the money, he didn't believe he could win or he wouldn't have fought that way.
Leapai is at least going to gun for a KO, he's not going to get close to achieving that but I hope he at least has the intentions of hitting Wlad because it'll open Leapai up and Wlad will knock him out.
