Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds! Hatton vs Castillo!!!
Hatton did an excellent job. No way did I expect him to stop Castillo like that. But he did. Hatton went to the body and hard. Few would want to taste more of that.
Hatton deserves credit. More so for stopping Castillo. Even more so for doing it so quickly.
Castillo did NOT look like a shot fighter. Ive heard it said he looked slow and sluggish. There really is no comparison to the Corrales or Mayweather fights though. Hatton fought at a pace and with an intensity that Mayweather never did with Castillo. Hatton fought at an overwhelming pace and put in body shots that Mayweather cannot match for power. It was brutal. Corrales is also not comparable. Hatton is like a freight train and has those short arms and he is surprisingly quick. Its a different inside game completely....
Castillo is not the fighter he was several years ago but he is still an extremely tough competitor. If he continues as I expect he will, this will show. I dont think anybody else at 140 pounds will actually stop him.

Agreed.
I want to touch on something here...
A phrase that I think is totally cliche'...fwockin done to death applies in regards to Hatton/Cotto vs Mayweather: STYLES MAKE FIGHTS.
While I hate to hear that shit & I think that people use it far to much in boxing...neither Hatton nor Cotto effectively cut the ring off enough to deal with Floyd. While Cotto had a lot of luck with Judah & Hatton looked great against Castillo...Floyd is a gameplan fighter with more instantaneous winning blueprints than a fwockin architect could come up with in a year.
Floyd has the ability to out think & out slide just about anyone & he's proven that he can take a shot.
I think that Hatton's wrestling & holding would hurt him against Floyd & I think that Cotto's barn door openings would be devastating against someone as fast & accurate as Floyd is.
That fight just gets so interesting, we all know how good Floyd is at exposing weaknesses, but at the same time there's a case that Floyd isn't so great at handling the pressure. What we saw tonight proved that Hatton still has the strengths we thought he did, and he put a huge excalmation point on that tonight. I'll ask you again, what active fighter on the planet today could put Castillo away with a body shot? I don't think there is one man on this planet who honestly believed that Castillo could be finished by a left hook to the body in or before the 4th round.

Yep, Hatton's stock is back on track after the last 2 fights. Hatton couldnt have done anything more than this..

Sorry...I didn't see that you asked me that...if I had...I'd answered you right quick...COTTO.

Well then that's a good sign, I think it shows that Hatton is in Cotto's league right now.

You know...that's something I've wrestled with since day one.
The thing is, while I am a HUGE fan of Cotto, there are still waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many unanswered questions for me...not being a fan of Hatton's...well there are more unanswered questions there, but I think that a match between the two would close the queries.

Agreed. Ive warmed again to the possibility of this fight. Give Hatton a warm up at 147 and then let it be considered!

Hatton vs Floyd at 147 is career suicide for Hatton. Hatton is best suited at 140lbs & Floyd was extremely stout at both 147 & 151ish. If Hatton wants to do it for me & gain a load of fans...dominate 140lbs just like Hopkins did with 160lbs...that would be the stuff.
I'd love it...& he could do it.
I'd love to see Hatton vs Witter, Harris, Malignaggi, M'baye, & Torres.
IWO, those 5 wins would make Hatton an all timer. Moving up to 147 proved to be a mistake...he shouldn't compound it by facing Floyd @ 147.

Just finished watching the fight. I agree that Hatton should stay at 140, he's too small for that division and if he had troubles with Collazo, he'd be in trouble against the best of 147.

It seemed apparent that Hatton was back to form this go 'round & that he was focused for the challenge.
Maybe he is one of those fighters that needs to rise to the occassion & the better the man across the mat from him the better he himself will perform...but I agree with you 100% due to the Collazo factor.

I quite like Hatton and this was a fantastic performance, but I can't see him beating a Margarito, or a Mayweather. He's just too small. This was a great fight though, my eyes damn near popped out of my head when he stopped Castillo. Never in a million years did I think that would happen. Hatton just looked too quick and too powerful for Castillo.

collazo again: slick southpaw hard to deal w/ but...
i agree and have said 140 is the natrual weight of hatton.. and he should stay there, but malignaggi is the only fight i would like to see the other fights will just be made out to seem meaningless anyways..
i think he will be forced to 147 to face cotto, margo, or mayweather
and i've already said hatton can go toe to toe with cotto (cotto leaves himself open for left hooks to the body) and i think he could beat margo (i thik margo is a little overrated) but i think mayweather would probably beat cotto or hatton (but not for long)...

Very mature from someone who runs a site ::** I also love how you delete a post I put up about Hatton beating a shot fighter, and even more hillarious is how you think a man going into his 66th professional fight can in no way be considered as shot ::**

Either youv'e never been punched in the liver...or youv'e never been punched in the liver.
Hatton is one of the most devastating body punchers in the game today @ 140lbs & Castillo took about 4 of those before he buckled....again...I aint a Hatton fan...but he did step up against Castillo & just 3-4 fights ago everyone was on the man's jock.
If Corrales ruined him in their first fight like many say...there was enough of Castillo left to knock Corrales the fwock out in their next fight & ugly or not...Castillo won his following bouts up until getting stopped tonight.
As I said...Castillo was on the slide...but not the dead fish you all are saying he is.
It's wrong to dismiss him that way because it discredits Hatton.
What's funny is that there's more stink here than there is when Hatton stopped Maussa.
Re-gotdam-dick-ulous...but...this is boxing & if we all agreed...well what fun would that be?
It looks like you are believing a little of the hype on hatton now huh ;D ...
thanks for giving your honest opinion and for not hating on hatton for a quick stoppage... i know you was saying castillo was on the slide so that could have been your out, but i think your post fight analysis was dead on as always... you give credit where credit is due...
