I think Marquez will win, but I doubt Jones will (unless Calzaghe has really slipped), now back in the day it would've been a different fight entirely.

Yeah, I worry about this fight because Caballero has such a big physical advantage over Molitor. I also think there are a few questions surrounding Molitor's chin that need to be answered before I'd pick him over Vasquez, though those questions will likely be answered in his next fight. I'd like to see that fight if he gets by Caballero though.
113-115
115-113
116-112
SD win for Diaz. Even 116-112 seemed far fetched.
I expected to see 118-110, maybe 117-111, but 115-113 and even 113-115 is crazy to me. Lenox Lewis was talking like it could be 120-108.
Diaz boxed well, but its not like he looked ready to beat Pacman or anything. Good solid win over a less skilled opponent.
For the benefit of those who didn't see the fight, since there was a contraversey in the scoring, Harold Lederman gave Kats 2 of the 12 rounds and those were two close rounds. There was no noticable difference in the power of the two, Kats was just outclassed in the skill department.
As for Kellerman, I don't think he grandstands. When he interviews fighters he tries to get to the heart of the matter. He's trying to get the fighters to say something interesting, and that's not always easy.
Not saying that kats could every beat diaz, he might just not be skilled enough, but for the first 6 rounds he fought a completely wrong fight, and for the last 6 rounds he only fought the fight he should be fighting in select spots. His trainer must have smoked some good shit before the fight to have been behaving the way he was, I mean wtf was he watching, the boxing part was obviously not working for kats and one could argue that when it turned into somewhat of a brawl he was losing that as well, but at least he was catching diaz with some shots then, and i figured kats could take more punishment than diaz. I really like kats good fighter tremendous heart but I can't see how glenada or whatever his name is had it 115-113 closest score I could realistically would be 116-112 for diaz. Also I don't think kats needs to necessarily fight lesser skilled opponents he just needs a new trainer that knows what in the hell they're doing, or are at least even halfway competent at their job.
I thought HBO and Lederman were way off. They get worse every fight, it seems. 116-112 for Diaz seemed like a very good score to me. Diaz clearly won, but Kats took more than two rounds. In defense of the judges, I guess I can see 115-113 Diaz, but that's pushing it. Glen Hamada must have been stoned to score it 115-113 for Kats. 118-110 from Lederman was almost as stupid as 115-113 for Kats.
The split decision is poetic justice for Diaz. Campbell was robbed of a UD in the last fight, in which he beat Diaz just as thoroughly as Diaz beat Kats in this one.
Fuck yes, that was beautiful. Was just not sure how Diaz would respond.
Casa's nowhere near what he once was, I'd be surprised if he beat Diaz. Guzman is a bad one for him and I don't really want to see it anyway as I'm huge fans of both.
Funny how a bad weight class can quickly turn around, 135's looking pretty good IMO.
Well their lies the problem.
Kats in the post fight interview when Max asked him about the oppostion and to turn it down a notch Kats said "Go big or go home"
He said he wanted nothing but the best and that he wasn't looking for easy fights he wanted to make the best of it since a flight back to Oz is a long one.
He completely fought the wrong fight, but more then anything his corner should have told him he was loosing and his corner is shit.
I hope Golden Boy get's him a new trainer.
What about 140 for Kats? Probably more opportunities to get a belt there. He seems like a pretty good sized lightweight.
glen hamada scored it for katsidis...
hes proved yet again that he remains the worst judge in the sport
fuck glen hamada
ye he came in at 150 tonight i think, he could go up and challenge the likes of holt or torres, maybe even hatton or malignaggi
i thought there was going to be a little bit of a robbery in the fight and katsidis might steal the win, im not ashamed to admit that would have made me very happy for katsidis although it wasnt deserved and im suprised the cards didnt actually show how one sided the fight was at times
i dont know were katsidis can go from here, his been found wanting on two occasions now when venturing into the top end of the division, infact his in a similar situation to khan now were the choice of his next opponent is critical to his career i think,
godda run, but my oversimplified assessment....
katsidis spent so much time tying to get inside and take away diaz's punching room that he actually forgot to punch back. that's a natural consequence of that style of fighter.
and diaz handled it perfectly by circling.
I actually agree here. I know you hate him because of the Judah-Mayweather fight but he never scores anything right.
Katsidis fought a fairly bizarre fight but to be fair Diaz looked very very good. However, if anything was taken from the Campbell fight it should have been that Diaz was a bit soft to the body and didn't like body shots. He was on his chest half the fight but for whatever reason did most of his punching from the outside, didn't make any sense at all.
However, the jab from Diaz from was absolutely awesome, very stiff jab I was blown away. He turned Katsidis great in the first half of the fight, was a very encouraging performance for a fan of the guy.
Juarez will never have a fight that's not on HBO or Showtime. Ever. Why? I don't know but that lip was Sebastin Lujan-esque.
Damn, I missed this because i spent the day with my dad. It was fathers day here in Aus and have been busy with work since. Bad luck Kats. Keep trying.
