Lewis was fortunate to retire at the right time because he had the sense to control his career, keep his money and achieved everthing he could. Good luck to him for that. Had he not he could have been beaten by lesser fighters.
You know the story with Tyson, he had to continue past his best because he was not in control. Tyson's peak was shorter but whatever version of Lewis, when he fought Rudduck, Holyfield or Grant, IMO he would have lost to the Tyson that beat Spinks.
You should not have to mention fights particularly Williams and McBride defeats because they should not really harm Tyson's legacy. It did not for Ali who lost to Leon Spinks and Berbick, Holmes to Micheal Spinks and Tyson, Joe Louis to Marciano.
In short peak mike Tyson beats Lennox Lewis.

agreed ive actaully seen this fight posted about 100 times in my life and i always respond to them....dont ask why! but yeah i always come to the same conclusion that a prime Tyson would beat Lewis and i rekon he would stop him around the 10th!

Like i said again Lewis beats Tyson a 1000000 times out of a 1000000 and i have not seen anything in Tyson career to tell me different.

One could argue that Lewis was past his prime when he faced Holyfield 2 and Vitali Klitschko.
Yet they are two very large wins on his record?
How can Tyson have been so great I f his Prime was so short?
A part of a fighters greatness is his longevity and Mike didn't show anty.
What he did show was a return after a lay off in which he abandoned all skill tactics and defense and was beaten at his own rough house game.

Tyson made more defences than Johnson, Dempsey, Tunney, Foreman, and Frazier at his peak. He did win the title after that which is some sort of achievement but was past his best because of his physiology and style.

Mike Tyson is lucky he is in the weakest era of boxing since Rocky and if he fought prime in Lewis era he would of been a splash in the pan.

Do not wish to. Prime Tyson beats 205lb (v Bowe I) or 218lb (v Tyson) Holyfield IMO.

Other than the fact that Tyson was passed his best, lost his discipline and skill, coming back from a long lay off because of prison, had only fought mediocre fighters and was a shell of the fighter that beat Spinks, your right. ;)

Every Tyson loss is explained away by But he was past his prime....GET A CLUE Mike Tyson is HUMAN he would have lost to tons of fighters because stylistically Tyson was an easy match for well rounded fighters.
Who honestly was the BEST fighter Tyson beat? Old Larry Holmes? Scared Michael Spinks? one sided Frank Bruno? I am more impressed with his victories over Donovan 'Razor' Rudduck than any one else...and that was "outside his prime" so to speak. It's not his prime that ended but he changed styles from combination throwing pressure fighter to pure power puncher and both those suited him well though as a pressure fighter he could go the distance easier

Lyle respect you opinion. However when he fought Rudduck he had lost the discipline of boxing, hitting and not being hit, it was an exciting fight but only because Tyson was not avoiding the punches. He showed a great chin but he was awful at times and I am not saying it for convenience sake but he was passed it. Maybe it was the fire that had gone in him but he was not the same fighter.
