I believe Manfredo when he says he was waiting for an opening...he just didnt stop punching. Now that brings up a good question, can you win a fight by just smothering your opponant and throwing a million shots to his arms? I hope not...way too early stoppage. I do belive Joe would have won eventually, but give Manfredo a little more time, I only saw a few shot hit clean ,and Manfredo was rolling on the last few shots...that shows he wasnt hurt at all. His guard was up. Calzaghe did hit him with a good shot to put him against the ropes, but the rest were just either weak shots or just glancing. Joe fights with a good style I like it but I wonder how hes gonna do with a good counterpuncher thats class A.

Manfredo has only himself to blame for that stoppage. He didnt answer back at all. In the beginning of the round he took a barrage of punches on the ropes and didnt offer anything back then either. Bottom line is Calzaghe wasnt gonna stop throwing and Manfredo awsnt getting off the ropes or throwing back. Calzaghe was starting to dominate.....on another note if he doesnt fight Kessler hell lose a fan, that fight needs to happen, no reason that it shouldnt.

Sounds like that stoppage was very dissappointing. Kind of had a feeling that it could happen. Not to surprised thou as Manfredo's last fight it seemed he liked to back into the ropes and wait till his opponent stopped throwing to do something.
Crap fight to begin, disappointed for Manfredo as I thought he had a good chance of going the distance. Oh well, on to other things.
