I thought is was not a good stoppage. Kas.. just got his legs back and started being aggressive. He was beat to shit but he recovered.
That's exactly how I feel. He might well have gotten dropped/stopped/ktfo, but he deserved the opportunity to continue.
It wasn't premature imo, like ICB said there were so many unanswered punches from Kats. The safety of the fighter comes first and foremost. This is still a sport, not a death match. Bayless did the correct thing.
Agreed i mean how can you say that was bad call ? honestly Michael Katsidis didn't throw a punch for almost 50 seconds. And he was hit with what ? 30 answered punches ? the ref gave him every chance to throw back and he didn't.
Michael Katsidis is brave but he's too brave for his own good at times, and the ref done him a favour.

Rewatch it again Katsidis was get hit with everything and Bayless could have stepped in then but he let Marquez go at it. Then Katsidis got some space got his legs back and turned aggressive and then landed a short left hook right then Bayless stepped in. I would say it was an afterthought on Bayless' part that made him step in and not Katsidis condition at the moment when he did.

Will do when i get a copy tomorrow because i'll be watching this one again, thats for sure. But forgetting whether it was an early stoppage or not, how about we appreciate what an amazing fight we just saw.
Honestly my heart is still racing, one of the most incredible fights i've seen this decade. Michael Katsidis is the modern day Arturo Gatti, and JMM is just special he's made of something else which is why he's my favourite fighter currently.
But one last thing did Michael Katsidis complain about the stoppage ? he seemed fine about it to me. I mean it wouldn't of made a difference except Michael Katsidis would of been laid out flat on his back, and he would of took more punishment.

The stoppage was bullshit, I pay $10 a month for my boxing streams and I want to see knockouts. We could have had a nice highlight reel finish and some real drama. Instead we have Kats walking out of the arena unaided having been allowed to dodge the beating that Marquez had been training three months to dish out.
Everybody left feeling shortchanged.
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Marquez/Katsidis was tremendous fun. Marquez is a freak of nature and looked really fresh out there. He certainly didn't look like a 37 year old JWW. His counter punching was as crisp as ever. And props to Katsidis too. He showed tremendous heart and his post fight interview was quite sad. I hope he manages to bounce back well.
