In the prime of his career, Floyd is not tied to any promoter, or any network, or any sanctioning organization. He doesn't have to do what a promoter tells him or waste his time fighting manadatory contenders that don't bring him big money.
He has made himself a free agent where he can call all the shots and he can fight for only the biggest purses. There are very few fighters that can pull that off. I would say that only DLH has the same type of freedom right now.
...well I must admit that it's an assumption I made....he's a boxer, he grew up in poverty, he has a ton of money now, he has a huge entourage, he lives a lifestyle with lots of luxury.
I have no clue how the guy is going to be in 5-10 years but there have been many guys who have lost that kind of money faster.
Let's get facts straight, I don't wish anything bad on him...(humility isn't a bad thing)....I don't want him injured or poor or anything. I don't like the guy's attitude and I don't like how he carries himself is all, and I am sure I am not alone
I think Mayweather only rolls with that entourage when he's preparing for fights. In his personal life, I think only Ellerbe and his family are really ever around him. Floyd is flashy with his money, but considering how meticulous he became with handling his career and managing himself, I don't think he's that stupid with his money. He's probably got people handling his accounts and managing his money and blowing a little off of the interest. The only thing I'd be worried about is the gambling and riding around with wads of cash on you. But I can say that I think Floyd's gonna be one of those guys that says he wants to retire in his prime, but won't be able to let go of the spotlight. He'll come back when he's 35 or 36 (if he's still undefeated when he retires) and want to fight the new young star. While he may not have the natural charisma and speaking ability, I have no problem calling Floyd, a modern day Sugar Ray.
