Re: Klitschko v Ibragimov - World Heavyweight Title UNIFICATION DRBR
No ref has ever called Wlad or Vitali out on swatting down on the guard....had Sultan not had his arm extended then MAYBE it would have been a foul had he continually done it but there would have been no need to do that continually.
Wlad has used that strategy of swatting down the guard vs: Byrd X 2, Mercer, Brewster, Shufford, well basically every fight I have seen of his he has used it in some form or another. In fact his best way to land the 1-2 is jab, swat the guard, and throw the right cross.....find the rule that says it's illegal. Vitali used it ALL THE TIME
Wladimir is 31 going on 32 he has a good 4-5 years left in the sport if he wants to go that long....if he's fighting 3-4 times a year that's up to 20 more victories he could have....he could have 70 wins at the end of his career (it'll probably be more along the lines of 60-65 or so). He's fighting and BEATING the best of this heavyweight division. You cannot punish Wlad for having a bad crop of fighters to fight against...Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson....those guys ruled bad heavyweight divisions and their stock doesn't slip because of it. If Wladimir DOMINATES this division then yeah he deserves some credit for it....I think he can be just as good as Lennox Lewis maybe a little better (but without the Holyfield's and Tyson's on his resume). The key is Wladimir's legacy isn't written in stone yet....he could lose his next fight, sure that would mean he's not one of the best all-time...RIGHT NOW is Wladimir's prime and he is just starting to write his legacy in the ring, so give him some time
Wladimir's jab is one of the best all time...I don't think anyone has the right to deny this. Larry Holmes' jab was great, Sonny Liston's was great, and Wladimir's jab is AT LEAST on par with those guys'

"No ref has ever called Wlad or Vitali out on swatting down on the guard....had Sultan not had his arm extended then MAYBE it would have been a foul had he continually done it but there would have been no need to do that continually."
It was bull shit and his "all time great jab" would have been more effective;)
"he could have 70 wins at the end of his career (it'll probably be more along the lines of 60-65 or so)"
He WILL NOT have 70 wins... If you follow that formula there are fighters out there that will have records like JCC;D
"You cannot punish Wlad for having a bad crop of fighters to fight against...Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson....those guys ruled bad heavyweight divisions and their stock doesn't slip because of it."
This is true... What is also true is at least at this point in time he has nothing else in common with these men.
Joe Louis one of the best finishers of all time...
Rocky Marciano had one of the best chins and heart of all time...
Mike Tyson was a phenom that people who knew nothing about boxing would watch for the sheer carnage he could inflict on opponants with one shot...
Wlad... has... a good jab:rolleyes:...
"If Wladimir DOMINATES this division then yeah he deserves some credit for it...."
He is doing that... and in my last reply I said that he deserves credit. Lets see how many of his next "20" fights are PPV;D
"Wladimir's jab is one of the best all time...I don't think anyone has the right to deny this. Larry Holmes' jab was great, Sonny Liston's was great, and Wladimir's jab is AT LEAST on par with those guys'"
I guess I'll have to conceed this... I don't hate the guy... Hell, I don't even dislike him. He's a good boxer but there are so many reasons why people can ridicule him. He doesn't help himself with the manner in which he has been fighting of late.

They're both lost causes;D
We'll keep on fighting, though:-\

You were 150 when you were 12 or 13?!!!

I wouldn't be too bothered that he doesn't remeber that means he can't correct you if you say you whipped him with ease.

Nah, he used to beat up on me... Only spared 6 or 7 times...
Well, I'm fairly soft right now... Around 225. The pic below is me at probably 215. I'm just under 6'2". I stay in decent shape... I have a bit of a beer belly... still box from time to time sparing with my 2 friends who are amatuer fighters... Just to slap um around a bit;D

Yes and saddly because you decided to compare Wladimir to Peter Manfredo you will recieve negative rep.
Dude I have nothing but respect for you but Wladimir is not a bad fighter, he's not a great fighter, he's a good fighter right now and his legacy is still being written right now and you're saying that there is basically NOTHING Wlad can do to become a great fighter.....and I am sorry, I disagree with that....but there is nothing Peter Manfredo can do to become great.
I said Wladimir's jab was all-time great...I didn't say HE as a fighter is great....he has the opportunity to become great the same way everyone else does when they become a champion. You cannot deny the jab of Wladimir is a great jab...it's the best jab since Larry Holmes' and it's more powerful than Larry's. And you can't deny that Wladimir has almost a decade of fighting left in him....even if he fought 2 times a year for 5 more years he'd have 10 more wins, that's VERY do-able
Wladimir isn't a lost cause...he's 50 (44 KO's)-3...and you DARE compare that to Peter Manfredo Jr.'s 28 (13 KO's)-5.

Ughhh... If you read my reply, all that was compared was that we fight for fighters that are not nessesarily favorites of the boxing public... Not the fighters themselves...
Jesus Christ settle down... You'd think I just kicked you in the nuts or something...

;D
....no mistakes were made in my handing out swift and tough punishment for the scurrilous attacks on Wladimir Klitschko.
You know I'll get you back later on...I just had to teach you a lesson. A lesson that is "At 31 and holding 2 of the 4 recognized titles, greatness is neither set in stone nor out of reach for Wladimir Klitschko"
