If you also looked at the final stats, Marquez had the higher percentage in all categories.
It was a great fight, but I personally think that Marquez won it by a close margin. Yes, Manny knocked down Juan, but Juan hurt Manny on several occassions as well. Juan also controlled the pace, for the majority of the fight.
The fight is over, and I'm not going to cry about the decision, because it was a close fight, but I do disagree with it.
What were the overall punch stats ?? do you know the exact stats ?? if you do can you post them here ??
COMPUBOX
Manny Pacquiao total punches: 157/619/25%
Juan Manuel Marquez total punches: 172/511/34%
Manny Pacquiao power punches: 114/305/37%
Juan Manuel Marquez power punches: 130/310/42%
Manny Pacquiao jabs: 43/314/14%
Juan Manuel Marquez jabs: 42/201/21%
That about says it all! Manny could not hit JMM consistently...although when he did it did count but it's not like JMM punches were weak.

Why don't they just allow bandages and stitch it up while they're at it. That's ridiculous.
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
the fight should of freakin been stopped, or the ref should of done sumthing, the freakin guys in red jackets are there for a reason right.
out of the whole fight no1 made a comment on that yellow thing they put in his cut which seemed weird.
is that even legal in boxing. first time i ever seen a cutman do that to a cut, its usually viseline or sumthing, but a piece of thread wth isthat
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
This is probably the best thing to happen for Manny. He got humbled without an L going on his record. Hopefully on the next Countdown to the third fight pacquiao won't be hanging out with the black eyed peas singers shooting pool and training in hollywood :)

Im not a fan of counting punches but Damn...........They might tell a story huh?I am a fare fan watching religiously for the last 20 years and Marquez was landing the more effective punches!Pac looked off balance badly at times, But the record books will have him as victorious.Marquez is still in top form also, shite call when all is said and done Imo.

Woow,4 even rounds Teddy ? JK bro ;D But hey,Ya had it right with Marquez getting it .Nip & tuck fight. very good action but Marquez took this .If /when both move to lightweight the match ups will be huge.
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
I would not have any problem with a draw, if it were without the knockdown, however, with PacMan scoring the knockdown, the split decision is justifiably deserved.
I can't believe how many people here gives JMM the nod when clearly, all he had in this fight was counterpunching. Taking no chances at all. Pac needed to be in harm's way (all out attack) to make the fight. If roles were reversed, and JMM needs to knockdown a PAC the champion, (NOW) to be one again, given his skill set, will be an extremely difficult task.

Pac impressed the judges and his fans. But yea, he kept initiating and attacking and sent JMM on the canvas. JMM did not do (could not) any of those. Don't forget JMM's 6 low blows too.
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
I will watch the fight again, this time really objectively. I am hoping to see what most people here saw, a JMM unanimous win despite a knockdown of LEGIT VARIETY. Having picked sides and adding the tension of the fight, might have made me blind as to what my eyes are actually seeing. A case in which your heart and mind makes you see conversely, but I doubt it. PACQUIAO wins 'em all. No shame in that too.

Marquez believe it or not was effecting pac just as much with stiff precise punches as Pac walked in.This was Boxing against a stagnit aggression. At first it was 3 LB's by Marquez....now it's 6..........Sun am it'll be 9
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
The Lampley guy might have something there, stating that gaining that much weight around fight night makes one really weaker. I believe too that in a short fight, 5 rounds or less it is advantageous, but disadvantageous going the full distance. Gaining that much weight 16 lbs! meant PacMan going almost to a point of dehydration just to make the 130 weight. Thereby this also signals that Pacquiao is no longer comfy fighting at 130, his fighting weight should at least be 4-5 lbs heavier.
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
PacMan comes in, overextends gets tagged. Learns his lesson, tames his beastly agressioin. Fight gets boring. PacMan comes in again, overextends but connects, somebody kisses the floor. Somebody comes in, overextends, emboldened to go toe to toe...gets sent to dreamland! Makes for an exciting fight.
Re: ICB's RBR of Pacquiao vs Marquez 2.
...somebody comes in, overextends, emboldened to go toe to toe, the Pac send them to dreamland. Makes for an exciting fight. The toe to toe seldom happened in this fight, it made the fight a little less exciting, imo.

it could have gone either way. but you telling me that 115-112 for marquez by jerry roth after the KD is warranted? come on now.. ill take 113-112 but 2 points for marquez and hes the one who got KD.
