last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)

Watched Tom Cruise in Oblivion last night. It also had Morgan Freeman, didn't recognize the other actors, so thinking Cruise and Freeman were the biggest 'names' in it. Basic plot = Aliens attacked Earth in the near future. Earth won but devastated the world during the war. Humans built a space station to help in transporting humans to Titan, Saturn's biggest moon. Tom Cruise and a woman are tasked with maintaining some machinery which converts/transports water to Titan (i think).



It started off REALLY slow. I was a bit confused and I'm an action movies and science fiction movies fan. So I was giving this a way longer window than other types of slow starting movies. Others may have already left the movie.

Missed 30 mins during what was probably the start of the exposition - a buddy called. This may have been good for me, as it renewed my curiosity when I got back.

There was one hand-to-hand fight around the middle of the movie. I was looking forward to the fight as I've heard prior to my viewing of the movie that Tom Cruise was teamed up with the same choreographer as his past few movies which featured Keysi Fighting Method (first seen onscreen in Batman Begins). I'm not a Keysi practitioner, but some of the fights in Cruise's prior movie, Jack Reacher, looked cool onscreen.

There may be 2 or 3 plot twists depending on how astute/critical/sharp the viewer is.

I liked the 2-3 plot twists and the latter part of the movie. The beginning was THAT slow! Can imagine others not liking those parts.

You can probably pass on this movie but if you watched this, hope the payoff in the last half of the movie will be satisfying for you. Don't know how critics rated this movie, but i can see if they panned it. I think for the smart viewers, they can predict the ending and see the plot twists coming.

Anyone else watched this? Yea or nay?

The Conjuring.

What a good horror film.

Has to be on par or if not, a close second to The Exorsit. Not your Saw, Hostel type horror films.

This is a proper, in-your-head, root-fear type of horror. Though it was brilliant!

The Counterfeiters.

Oblivion was slow but then got kind of interesting even though it was obvious what was happening when it got interesting.

Searching for Sugar Man - documentary film about an American/Latino guy that made a record in the 70s that was a hit in South Africa without him ever knowing. Amazing story.

Normally not my type of move, but if I don't feel in the mood for action movies (my regular preference when and if i have time to watch) - i will check out SFSM - premise sounds like it should be good plus your comment piques my curiosity.

Oblivion was surprisingly good.. Anybody whose expecting action is going to be let down but if you are a sci-fi fan, you're going to like it very much.

I was SUPPOSED to watch 'Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf' but the disc Netflix sent was broken so I had to settle for streaming 'Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers' ....I must say the Sleepaway Camp trilogy (I haven't seen 3 yet) is pretty entertaining for what it is. It has an original envelope pushing plot and you can tell the actors had fun making the movies as well as the director and the make up & special effects people. All in all they're pretty awesome "bad" movies, I recommend them given you're in to watching movies like that.

There's a special awesomely bad movie niche and I just love them

Im just leaving greenwich cinema with wifey after watching "2 guns".

I wont spoil it for anyone but imho this ranks alongside taken 2 in the multitude of films i have seen in my life.

Could be good or bad.

This movie isnt known in the states but u guys need to check out " Brotherhood of the wolf ".. it's the best french action movie ive ever seen..

This past weekend I was feeling sick, and there was shit to do, and shit on TV, so it was hit up the dvd collection time. I like doing blind picks sometimes, where I'll just run my finger up the rows of dvd's, and where it stops, is what I'll watch. So this was my viewing this weekend.

Oh, and two weeks ago, me and my son went and seen The World's End. It was good for a laugh, but Shaun of the Dead is still my favorite with the pairing of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Watched the children’s classic film Borrowers, they enjoyed it.

World War Z - as someone that prefers plot/story over action I really liked it. Normally these movies, about the end of the world, are full of obvious shit and stupid characters making stupid decisions, which I thought this would be. However, it was more of a "real" zombie film (what a stupid thing to say :D)

Me and my son went to go see that about a month ago. We both liked it as well. I'm sure that there were some who were disappointed that there wasn't more gore, being a zombie flick and all, but I know they were trying to appeal to a wider audience with a pg-13 rating. I liked it, but the ending was a little lackluster for me, but I guess they left it open if they decide to do a sequel.

BTW, was it actually rabies then that started it all? I don't think that they gave a definite answer as to how it started. Maybe I missed it, I don't know.
