Re: Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti v Gomez, Margarito v Williams, Cintron v Matthysse
That result was fucking bullshit, williams is a bitch.
the only time he won a fucing round was when that prick of a ref let him hold every time toni got close to him... It took the ref 6 fucking rounds to warn that lanky twat to stop cheating ffs, then when he stopped being a bitch toni toook every single round, untill the last where williams knew damn well he could hold on and get away with it..
Fucking discrace how he was alowed to do that, toni got screwed last night!

That is by far the most ridiculous thing I have EVER read...EVER.
Margarito got bit by a boxer puncher that outlanded him & out slicked him.

I think i give it to williams by one round...
I'm just sick and tired of all this holding and shit that goes on all the time... There aint one single round i give to williams when he didn't hold on and basicaly stop magarito being bale to work him...
If what he was doing was ok, why did the ref call him on it AFTER 6 rounds? why did he stop doing it untill the last round wher ehe knew he could get away with it again? It was bullshit IMO and it really really pissed me off
I'm no magarito fan, this is the first time i ever seen the guy, so i hope people don't think this is a pissed off fan trying to make excuses...

Wow. The holding wasn't that bad. I don't mind holding as long as it doesnt bog down the fight and make it a bore. And that was an action packed fight.
Though Williams did instigate most of the clinches, Margarito was happy to oblige. In fact, it was Williams who would end up pushing Margarito off of him to end the clinch.
The crowd might have made it seems worse then it was. Fight was in southern Cal...you heard all the chants of "Mexico". It was obvious who the crowd was rooting for. Everytime (only a few) that Williams would start to dance a bit on the outside or try for a quick breather on the inside he was boo'd.
He averages 100 punches a round...is he not allowed to tie up for 10 seconds a round if he needs a breather? ::** Christ, the holding wasn't even bad!
Tony was screwed my ass. Is that why Williams doubled Margaritos punch output? Acutally I think he even more than doubled it. That is a LOT of punching for someone who spent the whole fight "tying up" ::**

Re: Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti v Gomez, Margarito v Williams, Cintron v Matthysse
First fight with Cintron was impressive. He looked sharp. Second fight was sad because you would like to see Gatti go out on a win, but he bit off more than he could chew.Third fight I thought was pretty damn good. If Williams could learn to use his leverage in punches a little better instead of arm punches he would generate more power. Margarito has a good chin tho so I knew there wasnt gonna be a ko. I thought Williams boxed brilliantly and moved real good to set up combos. He also hurt Tony's inside fighting by tying up on the inside. You could see Margarito was the one with the power to end the fight, but he only landed flush about half of what Williams did. Williams completely outboxed him. Margaritos corner should have been telling him to step it up later in the fight, looked like he was either real tired in the crucial 12th or Williams got a burst of energy.

Re: Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti v Gomez, Margarito v Williams, Cintron v Matthysse
Williams also stopped Margarito's punch output with his own. In Margarito's last fight he threw like 1600 punches to beat Clottey, in this fight wasnt it only about 600?

Good thing gatti decided to retire. Thats the saddest lost in his career (actually anyones career in recent history).

I take it you missed his pre-fight interview.
The idiot himself said he would throw less and concentrate more on power punches then qty.
Bad idea and whoever came up with it should be slaped.
See below...

Cause there is no way he could win the fight throwing less. Margarito is a volume puncher thats his fight and he didn't fight his fight. As soon as the interview was over I turned to my bwoy! and told 'em I hope he was serving us a 'bluff'. Cause of course I thought he was just saying that to say it but that he didn't really mean it.

Re: Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti v Gomez, Margarito v Williams, Cintron v Matthysse
I feel Williams won and that Margarito doesn't have a leg to stand on if he feels he got robbed. Williams was simply more effective and Margarito should have jabbed his way in as opposed to move in with his head. But if you think about it, Williams did really hold a lot especially in close where Margarito does his best work to the body. Perhaps that was good strategy and part "I don't want to get hit in the body." Also, Williams missed, on the average, 8 out of ten punches thrown. So, Williams was more active, but not much more effective than Margarito (enough to win the fight and have fans marvel at his stamina/ability to punch endlessly for 12 rounds). I definitely want to see a rematch and Margarito putting the pressure on much earlier.

Yeah isn't it a disgrace how he was able to win the first 7 or so rounds and average more then 100 punches around yes that was a real hug fest ::**

Re: Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti v Gomez, Margarito v Williams, Cintron v Matthysse
Paul Williams went out and fought a great fight. It wasn't really his typical fight, he was on his toes a lot more in the first fight.
I thought he would fight a similar fight to that he fought against Matthyse where he was real flatfooted on the outside and long with his punches.
He was on his feet pretty much the entire time against Margarito which I thought really sured up his defense because it's a lot harder to exploit a fighter who's giving angles and on the move then it is to catch a guy who's in front of you. It became a lot more exciting when Paul winded a bit and decided to stand and trade a bit more obviously, that's also when Margarito picked up the workrate. I think it was more Paul letting Margarito into the fight then it was Margarito coming on late.
A lot of comparisions have been made to the Hopkins - Taylor bouts where Bernard got a late start, I don't buy into that really. Hopkins waited but had the opportunity to get into the fight anytime he wanted. I think the only reason Margarito made it closer was because Williams let him back in by becoming stationary. In that regard it's a bit similar to Taylor - Wright. When Wright got flatfooted, Taylor had his best success. When Williams got flat, Margarito had his best success.
I think a Mayweather - Williams matchup would be VERY interesting, I think that might be the toughest matchup for Floyd just because of the physical disadvantage. Williams is just fucken huge. Cotto would probably be able to walk through anything Williams threw his away, and he would make Williams pay a lot more on the inside then the long armed Margarito.
Good fight though, Williams really rose to the occasion.

Oh and you wonder why Mayweather didnt fight him, it would waste his time....
