That was crazy. In the 1st round he stuck out his tongue and made some faces and I thought, man, watch it with this guy. He did that shit at the weigh in but I was surprised he did it in the fight and showed overconfidence. I think that he believed since he took some big shots from Miranda that he could walk through Taylor's, especially after the last Taylor fights; and forgot Taylor could hit hard. He won't do that again and almost lost his biggest fight out of silliness. My girlfriend was screaming and my buddies were laughing cause' they wanted Taylor to win. I was almost sick to my stomach, but he showed he's a survivor and whooped that ass. I was just thinking: What the hell are the guys on Saddo going to be saying if Pavlik gets smoked in the 2nd round, that's I think the 1st thought I had when he went down. Lol

CC Wack. Damn I was just grinning for about an hour straight after that.
I thought Pavlik was great, obviously he's got big time P4P power but I was really surprised by his jab. I couldn't believe how easy it was for him to land the jab. Taylor's defense for a "boxer" is just really surprisingly bad. I think he actually showed a decent chin cause he took some good shots in most every round.
I have to say I'm shocked at how many people on here thought Taylor was controlling the fight. He was getting outjabbed, outworked, sure he landed his flashy combos at times and I guess that's all that judges look for but still. BTW, what the fuck is Dan Rafael on about? Taylor was "dominant" ;D This is the same guy who said that Chris John convincingly beat JMM before he ever even saw the fight. But that's not the point. Great performance by Pavlik, I'm on the bandwagon for sure.

Also WTF was Merchant on about with his "the difference in this fight was one fighter got up and the other didn't" ??? I like Larry overall but WTF, did he not notice that Taylor didn't get a count? I don't like Taylor and Pavlik does deserve respect for getting up in the 2nd and making it out but it just seemed like kind of unneccessarily shitting on Taylor. Odd considering HBO's man love for JT, although I guess that's mainly just Lampley.

If he was going to say something to that effect, he should have said: 1 guy got up and the other guy COULDN'T. JT would have definately gotten up if he could have. Merchant is an old fool who spends most of his time staring at his feet trying to gain inspiration from his toes or something. He is as irritating as Kreepy Kellerman, and i can't wait till he keels over. He actually shouldn't have said anything, it would have probably made more sense :D

CC,totally agree on your points about the fight AND about Rafael. I've always noticed he says little thing like that. I find him annoying.

Personnaly,I think the ref could have counted until he fell asleep.Taylor was not getting up.I gained respect for Taylor big time but To Me He Fights like an absolute amatuer at times.I think Taylors mental Ko will be harder to overcome than any physical damage he went through.
I dont know what happened to Dan Rafael.When he was with USA today he really put boxing in the publics eye and did some awesome weekly breakdowns on top tens and upcoming bouts.He knows his stuff,but when he struck out on his own I think the glare of the spotlight blinded him and now hes a Gloryboy

I found the fights that evening on HBO to be entertaining and the middleweight fight between Pavlik and Taylor to be the fight of the year in the middleweight division. Pavlik wanted it more than Taylor. Taylor was not a hungry fighter and he was definitely out of gas and experience had nothing to do with it. Pavlik wanted to win and then he wanted to please in that order and the fact that he wanted to be in the company of the rest of the Youngstown bunch didn't hurt either. I was surprised at the more experienced fighter losing but I liked Pavlik anyway. He should keep his tongue in his mouth for the rematch because it might be a target for the ex champ and we can't ignore him either.
