I think both Quigg and Campbell are in really good fights. I can understand why people think it's shit for a PPV but they're good matches in their own right.
Quigg-Simion is a great styles matchup. The Romainian gave Selby a tough fight, looked hard-as-nails and never stopped coming forward - that's his only loss. Should be a toe-to-toe punchup with Quigg's superior variety and vicious combos being the difference.
Quigg is 7/4 for the stoppage. Rds 7-12 3/1
Campbell is facing former champ Perez, whose only blip was against Crolla, since then he's scored another good win (robbed to a draw). Considering Campbell is a bit shakey around the canister, it's a credible step up.

Two lines of thought here just looking at the weights Wlad's team could be thinking 1. AJ is gunning for a quick KO and Wlad's team have planned to take him in the deep rounds....also it could be that 2. Wlad plans to move more and have AJ give chase meaning Wlad would be looking to counter rather than lead, but we'll see.
A heavyweight fight with both competitors in great shape, there's a positive for the average boxing fan already

I dont know that theres anything to be read into the weights. Wladimir has been on a mission for this fight so a few pounds off is no surprise, I doubt it's for any great tactical reason. If Ross was here he'd say AJ cant possibly go to 250 naturally, he must be on steroids, or boar. I think it's nothing more than him maturing physically.
If there are tactics at play and they are anything like Lyle suggests, it's a ballsy move on Wlads part inviting AJ to come onto him.

When Wlad is 245 or thereabouts he's usually looking for a stoppage earlier or at least his records in fights when he's that weight seem to bare out.
At 240 I'm thinking he's put in a lot more cardio vs lifting weights....maybe it's a plan, maybe it's how he has to train since he's older, I guess we'll find out on Saturday night.

I've watched very little build up to this fight and got most of my info from here.
Just watched the BBC documentary road to Klitschko. Fuck me they're way too friendly.
I'm also now leaning towards Klitschko down the stretch..:-\

Here's the deal, Wlad has 27 World Title Fights under his belt....AJ has 18 TOTAL fights under his belt. Wlad could very well get KO'd in round 1, AJ is a young fighter, big puncher, it could very well happen and a lot of people are very quick to say "Wlad is old, he's done, Fury finished him" and hey maybe that's the case, all I posit is that MAYBE Wlad isn't done, MAYBE he's back in a good space and has the hunger to win again....if so, then AJ could be in for either a very long night or a very short night, it'll depend on how he takes a punch.
There have been times where the older fighter has been ignored by the fans and pundits and there have been times where those older fighters have come to the arena with something to prove and they've won.
Foreman over Moorer, Calzaghe over Lacy, Hopkins over Pavlik, etc.
It isn't beyond the realm of possibility that Wlad dominates the fight just like it's not beyond the realm of possibility that AJ wins by KO early on, but hey don't bother reading my posts, just put the blinders on and think there's no other result than AJ winning....I won't be shocked regardless of the result. They are both good fighters, but one seems just a tad young in terms of experience, but hey, experience is something you earn on the job, maybe AJ is ready only he and his camp know right now, everyone will just have to find out Saturday.

I don't buy into the notion that Wlad is finished. It's doubtful he can be at his peak at 40 even with a great camp behind him, but a loss to Fury doesn't really mean much going into this fight. Wlad lost the Fury fight because he is generally too tentative, even against guys who he enjoys a big reach, size and condition advantage over. He didn't have the same advantages over Fury and in addition he had to deal with Fury's bizzarely awkward style and the fact that Fury believed he could win.
Now Joshua doesn't possess the same awkward style but he does possess similar size issues for Klitschko and more importantly he also possesses an even bigger reason for Wlad to be tentative. On top of that, Joshua will most likely try to engage Wlad. I don't believe he will just try and bomb him out but I do think he will let his hands go fairly early unless Wlad can get his attention early doors. History tells us that Wlad falls to pieces when he feels power, especially when fighting out of his comfort zone. When you throw in their respective ages and career trajectories, it's hard to invision anything other than a passing of the torch. The real intrigue probably comes in discovering exactly how that torch will be passed.
