Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Today's PAC update:
Freddie Roach initially thought Mike Alvarado, an unbeaten super-lightweight from Denver, would give Manny Pacquiao fits in sparring.
Alvarado proved Roach wrong when Pacquiao finally got his hands in their initial encounter at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood on Tuesday afternoon.
“He (Alvarado) was nervous,” Roach said. Alvarado’s arrival had been much-anticipated since Pacquiao had been toying with every sparring partner thrown against him every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
A former wrestling star, Alvarado has a 25-0 win-loss record with 18 knockouts, including his last five fights, and is being groomed for stardom, having been signed by no less than Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum to beef up Top Rank’s galaxy of stars.
Roach said Pacquiao sparred three rounds with Alvarado then racked up three each from lightweight prospect Urbano Antillon and 19-year-old Philly welterweight Raymond Serrano, who has a 9-0 ledger with five stoppages.
Also on call is David Rodela, a perennial Pacquiao sparmate.
On Thursday (Friday in Manila), Pacquiao will do 10 rounds, according to Roach, who remains optimistic that Hatton will not go past three rounds when the rugged Briton finally gets a taste of Pacquiao’s blinding speed and paralyzing (left hand) power.
Although Pacquiao didn’t report for training on Wednesday, Roach said he did his early-morning roadwork under the strict supervision of strength coach and nutritionist Alex Ariza and Michael Moorer, who is Roach’s eyes and ears whenever he is not in Pacquiao’s presence.
“Manny’s doing fine and he’s where I like him to be at this time,” said Roach, noting that his ward tips the scales at 147 lbs.
With a little over three weeks remaining before the match, Pacquiao has enough time to get down to the agreed weight limit of 140 lbs, a weight class that Pacquiao has never fought in.
Still, Roach is upbeat that 140 lbs will be Pacquiao’s perfect weight class and that he’d be deadlier at this level.
;D

Another bit of Camp-Pac hype maybe... Are you sure that you don't work for them?
You are probably right, he tends to skip over posts that he can't explain or turn around in pac's favour.

Sorry Mr. Paul, I missed your post...
Yep, that's probably the kid... The kid doesn't really have a good record but he's bigger than PAC... And PAC did just that... busted his nose in sparring...
But mind you, it's a very important experience for the kid... An experience that the kid can't get in an actual fight inside the ring in the next year or so... That sparring session is priceless and taught some very good lesson for the kid...

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
After watching his fight vs Collazo I have certain doubts. I hope Mayweather Sr. has seen that fight carefully to adjust certain things in Hatton's defense. Collazo doesn't hit as hard as Pac and did some damage to Hatton. Imagine if those punches were coming from Pac :-\.
The few body punches that Pac started receiving vs Marquez on the second fight during round 8 seem to do its thing. Hatton is a better, faster, and more effective body puncher. Imagine if those punches came from Hatton.
Hhhhhmmmm...I see some pros/cons with each of them. Can't really say much about defense. Reason why BOTH end up with cuts, bloody faces, etc. after almost every fight.
I want Hatton to win all the way but I somehow give Pac the slighter edge :-\.

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Freddie Roach thoughts on PAC-Hatton fight:
"To stand in front of Ricky, that's not our plan. The best way to fight Manny is the way [Juan Manuel] Marquez fought him. I expect Ricky to be better than Oscar was at this point. He is younger, fresher."
"We'll make the weight a lot easier. Then again Ricky will be the bigger guy. But bigger and stronger does not win fights."
"Manny's abilities to bounce laterally are key. Yes, he feared Oscar for three rounds. The bigger, stronger guy. If you stand in front of Ricky Hatton, he'll have success."
"We can't use the exact same strategy as we did against Oscar. Hatton is more adaptable. And maybe he won't be so aggressive against Manny. Maybe he will have been instilled with things from Floyd Mayweather."
"I know how to fight Manny Pacquiao, and what styles trouble him. Boxers don't give him trouble. Marquez, yes, but he's just smart.
He goes with the flow. Thinks his way through."
"Manny's not like that. Ricky's not like that. Ricky gets hit - he wants to fight. Manny gets hit - he wants to fight. They revert back to what the do best. If you hit Manny, he claps his hands together and away he goes."
"Ricky - I respect him. His Dad - I respect him. They are great people. I have nothing against Floyd, but he likes to make poems up about me. "

I just can't picture Hatton fighting like Marquez. No freaking way. Hatton is a come-forward-I-don't-care-what-will-happen-next fighter, and he will get a lot by most Pac's power shots.

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Hatton has exercised caution and ability to fight smart numerous times, especially prior to the Kostya bout. Since then he has been too gung ho, but has showed glimpses of his boxing skills. For the opening rounds against Urango Hatton boxed quite beautifully, a shame the second half wasn't so fun but Hatton was sick prior to the fight. We saw echoes of that against Paulie too, however it was Malignaggi spoiling with the holding this time.
Hatton can box when he sets his mind to it, and his mindset seems headed that way. I personally want to see smart boxing, but also really taking it to Manny when the opportunities present themselves.

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
I'm a firm believer that the fight between Hatton and Mayweather could of had a real chance of having a different outcome at 140. I think he's far more durable at this weight and it would suprise me very much if he was rocked like against PBF. For me thats a huge part of whats so great about this, we're getting to see Hatton fight a P4P fighter at the weight he should be at.
Very hard to decide the winner here cause all I can see if flashbacks of Tszyu fight....But I still say Pac by tough decision..

Pacquiao knocks down sparmate with body shot
April 12, 2009, 5:19pm
Alex Ariza raved so much about the current condition of Manny Pacquiao that the conditioning coach could not come up with anything bad about the progress of the Filipino fighter’s training for the May 2 showdown with Ricky Hatton.
“He’s a juggernaut,” Ariza told the Bulletin yesterday from Los Angeles. Ariza has been presiding over Pacquiao’s strength training at the Wild Card Boxing Club the past several weeks that there’s no doubt in his mind that Pacquiao would prove one thing come fight night.
“Manny’s lethal at this weight division (140 lbs) and he’s going to show that he’s the stronger guy,” said Ariza when told about the common knowledge among aficionados that the British bomber packs more power.
“I will not go as far as saying what Freddie (Roach) said about a third-round knockout but Manny’s been unstoppable right now.” On Saturday afternoon (yesterday morning in Manila), Pacquiao went 10 rounds with three sparring partners, according to Ariza, who supervises Pacquiao’s morning roadwork, his nutrition and plyometrics session, a high-grade form of calisthenics.
“Manny had four rounds with Urbano Antillon, then three with (Raymond) Serrrano and three with David Rodela, who went down from a body shot.” Ariza said Pacquiao weighed 149 lbs last week and “had a 6.75 percent body fat.”
“(Making) the weight (limit of 140 lbs) will not be a problem and we’ll make sure that he even gets to eat on the day of the weighin,” said Ariza, brushing off suggestions that game meat should be included on Pacquiao’s diet.
“We’re sticking to the things that we’re used to.” Meanwhile, Hatton is also deep in training in Las Vegas under Floyd Mayweather Sr.

Doesn't Hatton use open headgear, unlike the type Pac is using which is more like a Hannibal Lector mask with cushions? Of course Hattons going to be getting a few bruises and getting hit is part and parcel of it.
If Hatton wasn't getting tagged in sparring I would be amazed. Nothing to worry about, he's working things out. I've no doubts Ricky will eat a few on fight night too, he can take a fair few, but will Pac be able to take what's being dished back out? I'm not so sure.

It has the same protection for the eyes but more open in the nose section tho... I thought Floyd Sr. is teaching Hatton to "hit and not get hit" but as of now it's not showing yet...
Hatton can take maybe a couple of shots but how about bunches of shots? Definitely PAC can also take some shots...
The real question now is, can Hatton land a clean meaningful shot on PAC?

I don't recall anybody in recent memory, except for DLH, fail to land a meaningful blow on Manny. Manny isn't that hard to tag, just because Diaz and Oscar couldn't hit him doesn't make him such an elusive fighter. Marquez, Morales and Barrera were all able to land meaningful blows on him. And they are smaller and not neccessarily much faster than Hatton. Manny will get damaged. If he tries to box cute he might get hit less, but if he fights fire with fire, Hatton will burn him up.
We know Hatton can take WW punches and take hard JWW punches, Manny hasn't shown us this yet. Oscar didn't lay a glove on him because he was dead at the weight.

Morales, JMM and Barrera did land some big shots on PAC and PAC absorbed them without causing big problems... What PAC showed at higher weights is more on "not get hit" while still dissing the same slashing and stinging bunches of punches...
PAC also will not back down from any toe-to-toe encounter if necessary... That's what he loves to do and that's what he's looking for... He got an advantage in this situation, he got the faster hands with moderate pop...
Hoya took some powerful shots from MW down to WW... PAC's shots may not be that powerful but it still re-arranged Hoya's face and eventually made Hoya quit... PAC inflicting the worst beating ever on Hoya...
If the same punches will land on Hatton, I'm guessing Hatton will also eventually quit...

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
I think that the issue of the fight won't be decided by who has the overall better power or the chin resilience, I think that the main issue will be if Hatton can cope with the southpaw style, we've seen that he normally has a hard time against the lefty and I think that Pacman is by far the most dangerous one he has ever met. The other issues will be the style of the fight and Hatton's stamina, Hatton tends to grab very often and to wrestle, if the referee is tolerent, it can play against Pacman, if he's very rigid, it neutralize one of Hatton's hidden ace. As for the Stamina, I wonder if Hatton can go 12 full rounds with the number of bombs Manny will unload unrelentlessly on him if he can do that and if a tolerent ref is in, we might have a few surprises along the match but other than that, I stick with what I said, PAcman will chop him down in the middle run.

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
I am picking Hatton, i think Manny will feel the strength in Hattons punches and if Hatton starts to land to the body early he will stop Manny in 5.If he fails to land to the body early i think he wears Manny down in a hard fought fight around the 9th.
Who ever wins its going to be a great clash of styles ,but i'am leaning towards Hatton.

Hatton will be in deep shit if they indeed pick 1 of these 2 no-nonsense ref - Bayless or Draculich. We will see point deductions against Hatton for holding. Possibly a DQ win for Pac.

I think Floyd Snr will try to make Hatton work on the inside without tomuch holding. He wasnt holding in his last fight he was making Paulie do all the holding.

That's what Pac's camp are pursueing. They're trying to get either 1 of them.

I think they're trying to derail Hatton's comfortable (punch-clinch-punch) game plan by trying to get them refs.

That's just Freddie Roach's prediction. There's no "they", it's singular. Plus, wouldn't it be much easier for Pac to hurt Hatton in good striking distance?

Saddo Boxer makes the excuse that he´ll be drunk and wont be online...thats only so he doesn´t have to listen to the Hatton fans celebrate the next day!
