Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
I see what you mean but the indifference from the Hatton camp raises questions,Hatton may not(should though!) get past Collazo AND aside from the places which Gyrokai mentioned,Hatton is not that popular. Granted all the Latinos will churn out to see Tony and not only that but Arum is shrewd,he knows if he invests in Tony now,it will pay off later as he has an attractive style which will excite fans meaning more $$$ for Arum whereas the Hatton fight does not have that same appeal YET to the ordinary man, therefore Arum will not invest as heavily in it,understand what I am trying to say?
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
Also, don't forget,as Arum promotes both Floyd and Tony,it is an in house promotion therefore even more $$$$$.
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
:D
So much speculation. Makes sense, since Floyd is so unpredictable.
One thing is for sure, if Floyd gets paid less than 8 million in his next fight, then he's ducking Margarito.
And if he fights Oscar, it's a good choice, but not a pound-for-pound choice, in my opinion. He's old! He needs to fight fellow fighters in their prime also! Well, at least TheBESTP4P will be happy for that. ;) In a way, I don't blame you, because that will be Oscar's last big fight (If it isn't his showdown with Mayorga.). Mayweather to take an Oscar fight, if it's EVEN possible... I won't blame him, because of the loads of cash and fame he'll make. But I will criticize his opposition. Floyd, the fighter who picks on older fighters like Sharmba, Gatti, and Oscar.
Oh yeah, thanks, The Game, I remember now, Arum doesn't think the Hatton fight would sell yet.
(Blame Frank Warren for keeping him on the other side of the ocean for a long time. ;D
And by the way, Hatton wanted to fight in the States, even before his fight with Collazo, that's how bad*ss he is.)
A Ricky Hatton isn't afraid of anybody!
I just think that circumstances have it, that a Hatton fight will be forced to wait just a little bit. It isn't fair, because Hatton has proved himself already, but to America he's not famous yet. That is why he's going to invade the U.S.! That's why he's fighting here on U.S. soil! To make a name for himself here, and to make loads of cash. Like the Klitschko Brothers.
In the meantime, Margarito is waiting on a silver platter coated with diamonds.
I'm just trying to say,"Don't get all bent outta shape if Margarito reaches Mayweather first, because circumstances, fair or not fair, have it that Hatton needs to and can be built up here on U.S. soil."
Hatton has to wait. But if Hatton Mayweather happens, then great. But if Mayweather doesn't take that fight and fights for someone else for less than 8 million, then I am forced to say he is ducking Margarito. If he fights Oscar, then good for him.
And yes, Floyd can't be controlled. haha
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
Alright. I'd rather see Hatton Mayweather before Margarito Mayweather!!! There I said it!
But I'm such a huge Margarito fan, that I'd absolutely love that too!
I'm so confused. ??? :-\ ;D
Both those fight's I'd drive to Vegas to see!
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
I'd loooove to see Hatton Mayweather but as the situation stands right now,Arum is not interested in that therefore, and being a slightly bigger Tony fan than a Hatton fan, I want to see that first but hey,no reason why both cannot be made!
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
Man fwook Margarito....this dude ain't shat..and he's running his mouth cause he wants to get paid...floyd has nothing to gain as far as his legacy goes by beating wack ass hyped up margarito....Hatton is the man....
Truth be told Floyd obviously doesn't need any fwooking money and fighting margarito is a lose/lose...because if most of the "real fans" on this board say
"i want to see FLoyd fight tony, I don't think tony would beat him, i just want to see the fight", that's fwooking stupid because right there is an example of how floyd wouldn't even be given credit for beating this dude...
It's like calzaghe just said of ROy Jones..."He's been knocked out 2 out 3 times, and if i beat him, then they'll say he's old but if he happens to have one good fight left then they'll write me off for that"..
Like floyd...if he beats this over-hyped contender, who ain't fought anybody...people will say "oh tony ain't have the same boxing experience as floyd" ....If tony, the bigger man by far happens to beat floyd then its "see I told you floyd wasn't that good"
PBF doesn't need this fwooking guy to legitimize his career or ability...floyd is already going to the hall of fame and margarito might wins some tickets if he keeps beating up guys from the tiajuanna bars...
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
I gotta say that this is some funny ass shat right here.
I know that "writers" often consider themselves "journalists" but writers should know that a story is not a story until you have all basis covered.
Until Floyd has said no then this has no merit.
Now...my problem is this...either way...yes or no...Floyd is going to catch flack.
You tell me how Floyd is going to fight Hatton & Oscar & Margarito all in a year?
He can't. Floyd was talking Judah, Hatton, & Oscar last year...how the hell he gonna fit Margarito in?
I mean...I want him to tag Antonio's ass...but I don't see how he will take the risk with those two names out there.
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
Margarito is trying to cash in without doing any work...didn't he just beat gomez...a dude with ten losses...and floyd doesn't get any credit for beating mitchell & judah...the more people talk about margarito the more i don't want floyd to take the fight..because unlike the other real fighters who let their fists do the promoting this guy has nothing but his wack-assed supporters talking about him....all he need to do is beat someone with a real name....anybody he could beat gatti, or baldomir, or mayorga..oops i forgot he can't handle the seven pounds...but he wants to come in around 10 pounds heavier than floyd.....
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
Wack, come on man,you and I both know that the chances of Mayweather-De La Hoya are slim and getting slimmer slimmer:Arum,Oscar wanting Tito, the purse, just waaaay too many factors in the way. Second, you also know Hatton changes his mind every fight:I thought it was supposed to be Collazo,Gattin and then either Floyd or 1 more tune up?
Finally, you are incorrect in saying that Floyd will get flak for taking the fight. From whom?Respected writer and journalists will shut up,Margarito fans' will shut up and no-one else can say anything because Tony is the best WW on the planet and you are DAM fwockin right no one will hear the end of it if he does not fight:Floyd always alLWAYS goes on about the making dollars, making sense,,where else will he make $8friggin Million?!?!?!

I'm sorry but that is some BIGASS Floyd nuthugging right there!!! Also, your comments lose credence when even the majority of PBF fans who dislike Margarito want Floyd to take the fight! Also,Gomez had not lost for like 8 years before he fought Tony soooooooo ::**
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
The Oscar fight would prove nothing if he beats him, Oscar is old if it was 1999 then Oscar would school PBF remember they have two opponents in common both of which were younger and stronger when Oscar fought them and beat, took them out in less time then PBF. And Oscar has said it before he does not want to be a stepping stone for anybody. As far as the Margarito or Hatton fights go either one is fine but he should take on the one the fans are calling out for and that is Tony, Why not if he can be as easy as some keep claimming it would be. HE would just get paid an easy $8mil correct? then there is still time to fight Hatton at the end of the year or if he really wanted to and the Oscar fight does happen then fight Hatton early next year. either way I hope Oscar and PBF does not happen.
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
I think the article is kinda 'guilty until proven innocent' but I agree with a lot of it. His motto is if it makes dollars it makes sense. It certainly makes dollars so why not sign? We'll see how this pans out but for now, my pic is staying the way it is now.

right, ive finally got a chance to chime in with this debate...little did i know the interest the article would kindle as i hurriedly posted it this morning! :D
i agree with yoitsdan saying "guilty until proven innocent". PBF is always talking about the money being a key factor in making a fight. $8m talks to most people, if its suddenly not talking to floyd then you have to ask questions. PBF had been "coasting" for a long time prior to fighting zab. he hasnt been clearing out divisions and he hasnt been fighting the absolute cream of what has been on offer. even the fight with zab lost a lot of its garnish because of zabs lapse against baldomir. what im saying is that its not unheard of for floyd not to fight someone we would like him to fight. however with this kind of incentive, if floyd doesnt take the bait then you have to think somewhat negatively.
we know hatton is all swings and roundabouts when it comes to floyd at the moment. realistically hatton is probably 2 fights away from fighting floyd. a big money fight with delahoya is potentially one down the road. but in the meantime why not fight margarito for the "easy" $8m? he has belittled margarito saying the money isnt there, saying margarito isnt much of a fighter....heck, just beat him then and take the money!!!
the author is definately not on floyds side and does seem to be trying to stack it against floyd....but to be honest unless floyd fights margarito OR hatton this year then floyd will not have flattered us nor answered any of the key questions.
most of us predicted floyd would beat zab. opinions are much more varied when it comes to floyd against hatton or margarito.....lets see one of these fights come off, and not too long down the road....
Re: Floyd: The $8m Chicken
the whole boxing world wants to see mayweather fight hatton. floyd has got his agenda and i could call out fucking floyd if i wanted too. oh look he said no. yeah he must be scared. bollocks! mayweather is becoming a legend and its too early from his last fight for any decisions to be made.scared my ass.

Why is it nuthugging? It is a fact that gomez has ten losses? right...11 now...It is a fact that many had negative things to say when PBF beat Mitchell?
And I don't know what it is about margarito supporters that seems to think if you lose a while ago that it erases your losses...sorry but "no" it doesn't....i don't care if Gomez lost 10 years ago..he's got 11 losses....the guy is a fwooking loser d-rated fighter...and so what if tony stopped him...oooo big deal...I don't get it...margarito must be trying to build a new school in mexico or something, because everyone is hyping this dude up for the money fight when hasn't fought anybody to earn the money fight...
I think floyd fans, such as myself only want him to take the fight so people who like tony can shut once he takes the assswhooping...Me personally i'd rather see floyd fight someone that could seriously be someone he could lose too (hatton)....
