I couldn't agree more with you on this. I think its a smart thing to do on his part to get a couple wins under him and then step up to the plate against the big dawgs. I think he's at the point where all he wants to do is win so like you said can get his confidence back up.
Great idea, always think it works. I remember Ali comming back against fringe contender Trevor Berbick, or Tyson fighting that fringe contender Danny Williams. They both showed the critics, who was shot! ;)
Ali was already showing pre-mature signs of Parkinsons when he fought against Berbick, and Tyson had Williams done in the 1st until the knee prob, if you would have used the Leonard/Camacho fight as an example i wouldn't be saying anything
Like I said, it is a great idea ;)

WTF happend to Roy fighting Calzaghe??? I thought that was almost a sure thing, and would have been a great final chance at redemption for the greatest fighter of our era, Roy Jones Jr. Howevr if he is fighting Prince Ajuma, it is a respectable and good matchup for Roy. I have had the pleasure or displeasure of seeing Prince fight at least a couple of times and he is a top 10 fighter with solid power. But he is hesitant and unsure of himself. He waits on his opponents and that has cost him. With Roy's speed, and pop, he should be able to handle this guy, and possibly even look good doing it. This is a good fight for Roy. :)

That's the thing, Ajamu's strong and if he just jumped all over Roy from round 1 like Johnson did he might well be able to make something happen but I've noticed the same thing about him you have, he's a bit hesitant, a bit lazy. If he waits and lets Roy have space and time to relax and pick his shots he'll get outboxed.

Exactly man. He is like a Jameel Mccline or something. And I am hoping that if this fight happens, he does just that, be hesitant. The longer he waits, the more Roy's confidence will grow, and the more active he will become. Maybe just maybe we will see someone resembling the old Roy Jones in this fight. But if he loses it will be the equivalent to Tyson losing to Williams or possibly Mcbride, well maybe not that bad. Oh and by the way you see the asskickin Johnson laid on Richard "Destroyer" Hall recently, Hall is a tuff suker and took almost a bad a whippin as the one Roy laid on him years ago.
