Re: Opinions on De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr.
If it happens...& it won't...I would imagine it playing out about like Mosley Oscar II but a bit closer to score.
Floyd being faster than Mosley if he can carry the weight to 154...but having less power to stun Oscar than Mosley had.
It's be a great fight...but I really really think that Oscar would spend his time following Floyd & eating straight rights all night long.
Re: Opinions on De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr.
At 154 and what oscar showed the other night, I really really would put money on him.
But after 8 rounds?
ODLH fades, PBF picks up.
Oscar not gonna jab throught hose Winning balloon gloves ;D
Re: Opinions on De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr.
Why does everyone think that PBF will stand at let oscar size him early on? that was the strategy against judah because he knew that was judah's best strategy to be a front runner...trust me the strategy against de la hoya would be vastly altered.....oscar is too accurate with his right hand for floyd to stand still...
Re: Opinions on De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr.
Floyd vs Oscar wouldn't be as close as Mosely-Oscar. Floyd would outpoint him much easier. Oscar beats a guy who is nowhere near Floyd, and everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon. I hope you clowns can hear how silly you sound.

No...I think the people you are referring to are saying that a guy that beats, mayorga, campas, vargas (on steroids), Castillejo, Gatti, Carr, and Quartey definitely has a legitimit shot at hanging with and beating PBF if the fights at 154...and maybe even at 147....does that sound silly to you now? If so I think we all know who the clown might be....but If you agree with this I think we know where we are coming from now...and all is forgiven...

At any weight Oscar has a chance with anyone. He's alot older and his age would be badly exposed if he fought Floyd, then you'd be thinking I was wrong. Mayorga was hand picked to make Oscar look good. If you can't see that then you are blind. Oscar didn't look fast against an old-ass Hopkins, so why would he be able to all of a sudden hang with the fastest guy out there. All punchers have a chance, and Oscar has always had a chance. But, Oscar beat all those guys a LONG TIME AGO! If a person uses the Mayorga fight to measure what Oscar would look like against Floyd, then you are a clown, and have no boxing knowledge. Floyd would beat all of those guys you mentioned above. I don't find that outstanding. Floyd would beat Mosely too. Like I said, Oscar has always had a chance, but he's lost to every guy he fought who is similar to Floyd{Mosely, and should have lost to Pernell}, and he's only dimenished, not gotten better. Now, do you think he has that good of a chance? Punchers chance, sure. That's about it.
Re: Opinions on De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr.
floyd wins UD at 147
oscar kos floyd at 154
i win, you lose
Re: Opinions on De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr.
I couldn't see this fight going at 154 in Floyd's case. He would need at least 6 months to a year to fully grow to 154. Floyd won't bend too far and put himself in jeopardy. Oscar has voiced that he wants the fight at 147. I'm sure he'll change his mind, because he won't win at 147. I'd like to see this fight happen so Floyd can retire Oscar, and then destroy Tony. However, I doubt more and more that Oscar-Floyd will happen. Hopefully they decide soon so alot of good fighters aren't inactive awaiting Oscar's decisions.

I think your being a little harsh on Oscar eh... fact is fighters lose speed as they move up in weight. I think Oscar gained some moving back down to 154 and I think Floyd lost some moving up to 147, do you honestly think Floyd won't lose anymore if he keeps moving up?
How could you be so sure Floyd could hang with any of the big names Oscar fought above 140 when the only 2 names Floyd has above 140 are Mitchell and Judah, who only moved up to 147 because Kostya destroyed them both and cleaned house.
Oscar totally outboxed Mosley in the rematch at 154 it was only Mosely's single power shots that won the judges over and face it power is something Floyd ain't going to have at 154. ;)

If Floyd jumps to 154 right now, without being at 147 for a full year, he's not as smart as he portrays. I seriously doubt the fight would be at 154. When Floyd fought Mitchell and Jab, he stalked them, that's why he didn't look as fast. Against Oscar, he'll be on his wheels. That's the thing about Floyd though. Early in his career, he always fought inside, and didn't move as much. He has the uncanny ability to do both. Oscar was out of his weight at 160, but BHOP is as slow as a snail, and was still as fast as Oscar. I may sound like I'm being harsh on Oscar, but I'm just not convinced because he beat Mayorga. I also know Floyd will fill out and be able to handle all of the same opponents that Oscar and Shane has fought. All three{OSC, Shane, and PBF} all started about the same weight, and everyone wondered if Oscar and Shane could handle the weight. Why can't Floyd? I don't think that Floyd has lost as much speed as people think. Floyd has just become more conservative. Typical good vs bad. Everyone wants to see Floyd lose, and who better to beat him than Oscar. That has blurred the vision of some. Oscar is getting older, while Floyd is getting better. I think Oscar should pass on this fight for his sake. Unless he can convince Floyd to fight now, at at least 154.

well it wasn't that long ago that your boy said 154 was as high as he would go even calling out Winky Wright and Oscar did just pick up Floyd's beloved WBC version of 154. Oscar on the other hand as far as I know has not talked about moving any lower than 154... If that is incorrect then let me know. So to me it stands to reason the fight would be staged at 154. Down the road Floyd could very well be a great Welterweight but right now I think he is biting off more than he can chew. ;D

Before the Judah-Floyd fight, Oscar released a statement in the L.A. Times{might be the wrong paper, but it was posted}, saying that he was training at 154, and would like to finish his career at 147, saying he was at his best at 147. Then he mentioned that he would like to fight Floyd at that weight for his last fight ever.
I'm sure that Oscar realizes that his best shot is at 154. As for Floyd, I know what he said, but I think that was alot of hot air, not truth. I'd hope that Floyd wouldn't reach too far. We'll see. I wouldn't count Floyd out at 154, in fact I'd still favor him, but fighting at 154 would even a bit for Oscar. Money will decide what happens.

The problem for Floyd is he don't have a belt at 147 Oscar will surely want to be fighting in a championship for his last, also pops don't want it and Oscar said he will respect Snr's opinion. It won't be Tony because of Arum, it wont be Winky because he is too big, Trinidad say's he isn't coming back, could it possibly be Ricky Hatton?
That is my official prediction for Oscar's last fight!!
Oscar Dela Hoya v Ricky Hatton ;D
