No Starr, I'm saying Jackie Robinson was getting court marshalled for hitting an officer that called him a **BEEP** and Joe Louis said "No that's not right" and BAM, Jackie is free and goes on to break the color line in major league baseball. So LITERALLY without Joe Louis there is no Jackie Robinson!
Ali certainly wouldn't have lost to anyone that Joe Louis or Rocky ever beat though, your missing the entire point... It's really not that hard to grasp... Nikoly Valuev could get to 50-0 within a year, does that make him greater then Ali??? Joe Louis and Rocky MArciano fought in the 2 worst eras ever of HW boxing, Ali fought in the best and beat everyone there was, even though he was robbed of 3 years, when he was in his prime.. It is very possible that he could have became 50+ and 0 if he hadn't been banned from boxing... Joue Louis fought some of the worst HW title competition in the world, he maybe faced 4 or 5 fighters in his career that were anywhere near as good as the average Ali opponenet when he was at his best... Ali is clearly ahead of them both in terms of his competition and talent... There's just no doubt, if you watch all 3 it's really no question.
So Ali fought all great fighters in his title defenses, what about Brian London, Henry Cooper, Karl Mildenberger, Richard Dunn, Chuck Wepner, Jean-Pierre Coopman...he was a real killer, Alfredo Evangalista, Leon Spinks had 6 FIGHTS, and many of Ali's fights were BORING. Joe Louis was IMO the greatest heavyweight ever, he completely decimated every top Heavyweight in his era on the way up the rankings, so when he was champion there was'nt many big names for him to fight, and remember this,... Louis defeated 9 ex or future champions in his career, no other heavyweight champ can say the same.
Joe Louis had the weakest Heavyweight era ;)
Moore, and Shmeling and thats about it unless you count the cinderella man :) And maybe a few others.

Walcott, Charles....I guess they don't count though....I mean Louis beat Walcott when he was WAY past his prime but oh well, Ali beat Trevor Berbick right???? hahaha

Do your homework, the song was out when the Fugees were well in their prime when the film When we were kings was released.
The song is called Rumble in the Jungle for those interested.

Hey Genius, Louis never fought Moore, Marciano did, Oh, and Ali fought a 50 yr old Moore.
Re: When We Were Kings (Hip Hop Tribute song to the GREEAATEST!)
You guys are splitting hairs and knocking Louis for the era he fought in is ridiculous and holding Ali's losses when he was old and diminished is equally bad. Ali fought everyone and everyone and deserves to be side by side Joe Louis.

so you bring up a song that is 10 years old to this forum...I decide to give actual comments to the lyrics of the song and you tell me to do homework? I could care less about the fugees or when this pathetic excuse for a song was released....I believe it to be racist, offensive and completely inaccurate.......and the Fugees ARE WAY PAST THEIR PRIME!! like is said earlier....read and comprehend what you read before you make a post like that....sorry i hurt you feelings by dogging you favorite band ....
