Its so dumb, thats like saying, hey mr bank robber, you could bust in here with your bare hands and demand money, OR we could make it legal for you to have a gun and things will go alot smoother.

Anyone that thinks its ok to carry weapons that were made for killing is has a loose grip on reality, As far as hunting goes, well thats just a balless tasteless slaughter of innocent animals, Those 40 year old beer drinking rednecks must feel like big men shooting an non threatening child of mother nature. I could understand if it was for food but its not, its just for the fun of it, why dont you just shoot other people who can shoot back........ opps! I forgot you DO do that as well!

It's tough! Don't get me wrong I see what you're saying, I've been there myself, and everyone has but but but... The way you're coming off is that of a person who is VERY inexperienced in the world. It's a waste of time bitching about the current situation with firearms, if you're so concernced try to think of a way to better the situation. The conclusion you're gonna come to will more than likely be 'oh damn theres nothing I can do'. That should help defuse the bitterness thats leaking from your last post. It's a vidy vidy different world now, and if you think it's still cool to throw down anytime anywhere in the name of 'honour', well you're forgetting about the psychotics of the world who genuinely don't give a shit about your existance or honour, and will end you when the time is right (I kinda like that mentality myself). Hunting was once a way to survive, I imagine you'd of read that in the history books (sounds like you're still in school). BTW 'You yanks' is very derogatory and condascending - and it's hard to make someone feel little when you're coming off as naive and inexperienced.
And if I've trained in hand to hand combat and own multiple firearms I'm twice as safe, ever think of that?! ;)

More power to ya brother! I've personally been robbed a few times (my gun being stolen one of those times) and the idea of a thief makes me wanna do horrible things. Theres a serial rapist/thief on the loose in my area right now, he's hit all the cities surrounding me. His method is to either break in or catch you outside, hold you at gunpoint, tie you up, steal your valuables (of course rape you if you're a woman). Add in all the other random robberies, murders, and everything else that goes on in big cities you'll feel comfortable sleeping next to a .38 special.

I live in the UK where guns are illegal, but it is not completely factual to say that there are no guns here. Making them illegal means that only lawbreakers have them, so they are one step higher in the 'arms race' against law-abiding citizens. If everyone could have guns, I think that there would be less opportunistic burglaries for example.
Having said that, if you make a mistake with a gun, shoot the wrong person etc, the damage done is pretty irreparable. Also, there really would be an arms race if everyone had guns - we would be dealing with poeple regularly using MAC-10s and all sorts of shit.
I think banning guns only works if EVERYONE has not got one.Therefore sentences should be much higher to those people caught with them.
People have made the inevitable point that it is not guns that kill people, but people that use them who do. People then say 'oh, well then why don't you ban cars as well because they kill, more people'. The logic does not really stand up as guns prime purpose is to shoot people whereas cars are for transporting people and crashes are an incidental matter.
Not a good argument on a boxing forum, as ours is one of the only sport where the one objective is to hit and hurt your opponent !!!!
