Briggs beat Koval and honestly my opinion of Koval went down because of how badly he was beaten. Briggs did his job but I'm still not convinced that he's ready for the top heavyweights around today. Koval just isn't that good even though he went the distance with Dimitrenko.
Anyway, Briggs is gonna get a big fight now, within a year for sure, maybe within 6 months. If the guy has any sense at all he will start training right away, get his weight down to the 250 lb. range and take advantage of this opportunity to win a really big fight and get a big payday in the future. With his power he could probably knock out some of the other top 20 heavyweights. The younger, faster, durable ones [like Sam Peter, Brock, Chagaev, Dominick Guinn, etc.] would still beat him in my opinion by taking him into the later rounds when his age and excess weight would start to take their toll.
If Briggs is smart and can't motivate himself to train down then he should try hard to get a fight with an older, slower heavyweight that won't test his stamina. Guys like Danny Williams, Sinan Samil Sam, James Toney, DaVarryl Williamson would be good choices. A rematch with Jameel McCline sounds like a darn good fight to me, 2 big heavyweights that have both been busy and trying to work their way back up the ranks.
I just got off work so I didn't see the fight so I checked out Boxrec and saw the weight Briggs carried into this fight. Over 270. He was bigger than George Foreman when he fought Foreman. Yikes.
he's like butterbean...only with better wind and boxing ability...fighting bums and thinking he's actually getting better...Quote:

Everyone knows he can't touch the top ranked guys which is why he's happy fighting on ESPN and not going after guys like Sam Peter. He's basically pulling the post prison Tyson con job. "Look at me, I can fight, this guy is a bum, they are all bums in the division, I've KO'd x ammount of people in a row, who has done that?"
Briggs is a sad....SAD man
coulda been a contender. He certainly had the attributes.
If he is pullin a Post Prison Tyson Con, then he still needs to win two World Titles and get KO'd by Evander Holyfield to complete the master plan. ;D ;)Quote:

Shannon is a Bum.
So you're sayin Seldon and Bruno were given those titles specifically so that later on down the road Tyson could knock them out and take them? Dunno bout that. IMO he woulda done the same to Michael Moore if he had the belts, Shannon Briggs if he had a belt, Tommy Morrison for his WBO belt if he wanted it and possibly Bid Daddy Bowe. The last one being the toughest fight and one Mike might have lost.Quote:

From hhe ones over 30 Danny Williams and Williamson would close VS Briggs and Sinan Samil Sam too or even some better ... Hmmm James Toney would get the UD easy i think VS Briggs but who would get the KO would i would give more chance to Briggs but Toney got good chin...
I think a McCline re-macht would the best thing for Briggs or Whitaker ! ! !
You're saying Seldon wasn't an easy fighter to beat? He's a scaredy catQuote:

Michael Moore? The film maker? Yeah I'm sure Tyson could have beat him
Michael Moorer? I don't know, at the time before Foreman KO'd him Moorer was pretty good, he beat Holyfield...more than Iron Mike can say.
Briggs before he lost to Lewis would have been tough, Morrison would have been tough for him, Bowe would have been tough for him. Tyson came back and DK wanted him to look invincible to pull more money for a fight vs Holyfield.
Briggs usin his size might have been a chore, sam for Bowe. Morrison ...did you see the Mercer fight? Multiply that by two. And Moorer, well did you see his fight against David Tua? It would resemble something along the lines of that. ;DQuote:

I agree I would rather see him stay active instead of sitting around waiting and hopping for a fight with one of the top guys. He is building himself up so that an alphabelt gang will want him to fight for their title.Quote:
