why is joe louis praised and marciano criticized 4............

I just posted something like this elsewhere. Want to know Louis assessment of Marciano? Marciano's assessment of Louis?

When Marciano knocked out Louis, he turned away, he said so Louis wouldn't see him crying.

When Marciano died in the plane crash, Louis showed up at the funeral and quietly kissed the casket to everyone's shock.

Sad click me if you want to. Just my assessment of the two greatest fighters of all time (Ali and Robinson were the two greatest boxers of all time, there is a difference).

Just like baseball has eras, the 20s being the booze era, the 90s-00s being the steroid era, heavyweight boxing also has eras. The 70s were the golden era, the 90s were the exciting era, the 50s was the midget era. sorry

Marciano had a great temperament, power, chin and workrate but I can't imagine him dealing with a prime Lous who had the power to keep him off and vastly superior boxing skills. Louis dropped him as a shot fighter. A prime Ali would have jabbed his ears off for 15 rounds with Rocky swinging at air

He can say however that he beat Joe Louis.

Again, what Marciano did with his size was awesome. He was an exciting heavyweight and he is undefeated. You can't take that away from him, and why would anyone want to. If it is true that styles make fights, (as we are all so fond of saying) then his level of competition is relative.

Besides, Who else went out undefeated?

If you put anyone in Rocky's era of today's heavyweights a lot of them would be unbeaten.

louis can only say he beat a 169 pound billy conn when he was at his best. evey1 else louis was washed up or a bum. OLD MAN braddock was the best the division had 2 offer at louis's era---so rocky was just like his idol--they both fought in weak era's---louis era was alittle better providing there was more washed up champs in his ;D

You don't know anything about football to make a statement like the 72 Dolphins were a bunch of mediocore over-achievers, Bob Griese, Larry Cszonka, Larry Little, Paul Warfield, Jake Scott are all Hall of Famers, so you need to read up on football junior, stay on the porch if you can't run with the big dogs. And as far as Marciano is concerned, real true boxing fans know how great he was,.. and his place in boxing history. Let me say this about Joe Louis, who IMO is the greatest Heavyweight of all-time, no fighter from featherweight to heavyweight fought for such a long period of time at his high level of excellence, he was Heavyweight Champion of the World, when it really meant something, for almost 12 yrs.

Most people think the era that they were introduced to a sport was the best period, it figures its what they can relate to better, they were young and impresionable. Thats the time they will defend through ego of youth. After years they could change their perspective most people within reason will. the folks who defend the modern day fighters ,started I think recently watching boxing. So it goes on ,Im lucky being 146 years old.
