Actually Cotto is 2 inches taller and has 2 inches more in reach, Cotto is much bigger than Hatton I don't see what you are basing Hatton being stronger on. I hear what you are saying about Hatton's workrate, but like I said I believe Cotto could outtime Hatton all night long. I don't think that we are gonna give way on this, we need to just agree to disagree. I will stake money on Cotto if this fight ever happens though.

At 140 Hatton to strong for me, 147 things get tough, i think Cotto is naturally bigger, but Hatton is stronger at 140 than Cotto.

The only opponent that they have both faced (that I know of) was Carlos Maussa both at 140, and Cotto knocked him out a round quicker, that is the only judgement I can honestly make on their strength without it being speculation.
That and Cotto has an 84.6% knockout rate. Hatton has a 73.1% knockout rate. When Hatton had 26 fights (Cotto's current total) he had a 76.9% knockout rate.

Them late rounds of Hatton pounding away wont do any favours to the weight drained Cotto at 140.

He is struggling to fight at the weight, why is he moving up?

He only got knocked down once against Torres, and he still came back and knocked the bloke out after knocking him down 4 times, he's moving up for the same reason that Hatton did, there is more money in the Welters. Please justify your statement that he is struggling at 140.

You don't have to be taller to be bigger. Hatton is a monster at 140, Cotto is big and reasonably tall but Hatton has more mass.

I could be wrong, but if they are both 140 doesn't that mean they have the same mass?

At any rate, back on topic I respect Hatton taking his mandatory defense against Urkal. If JLC gets banned or whatever
Cotto may be available at 140 for Hatton, depending on when Hatton takes his fight. Does anyone know the proposed date of Hatton - Urkal is?

He says he is talking to Hattons people on Thusday, do you think it is possible to fight Urkal then Cotto before the year is out?? I very much doubt it, but Cotto obviously has Nov 11th penciled in at MSG, is that to long to wait for Hatton?? I hope this fight can be made at MSG that would be an amazing fight.
bob arum just like king....he is so full of shat that you can't believe anything he says...the only thing you can believe is that he will do anything to make more money.......and say anything....
Re: Bob Arum says Hatton dont want Urkal!!
At 140,it would be close,Killersheep,I have read numerous times my boy Miguel struggles to make the weight@140 which is why he is moving up.He just about makes the weight and come fight night,he's usually near or at 150(157 for the Corley fight!)
At 140,I'd slightly favour Hatton but I doubt Miguel would fight him at that weight. At 147,Cotto all the way.Miguel fights superbly on the front foot and back foot(Abduallaev,Ndou etc) and I think Miguel is going to get better and better especially at 147.I cannot wait and rememeber,if he does well with Paulie,a Mayweather fight is more likely whereas Arum said if he does not do well, then a PBF is unlikely.

I agree that Cotto would want 147, for many reasons, more money, it would be for a title, more money, easier to make the weight, more money, higher chance of victory etc.....
On the point of Malignaggi, I am a little concerned for Cotto, he hasn't watched any film of paulie, and to Paulie's credit he is a fast, slippery mother f**ker I am banking on Cotto cutting off the ring, but if he can't he could lose a UD after get slapped all night with little more hurt than his feelings. I really want Cotto to win and I really think he can it's just that initial slowing Paulie down and dictating tempo that will be tough, let me know how you feel about that.

I've managed to see some more fights of Paulie and I agree,I think he is a slippery little bastard but seriously, the leap in competition for him is huuuuge! Who are the other "names"on his resume...thejn compare their powert etc to Cotto's!! The only thing,I want Miguel to really pressure him,use the jab etc,I don't want him to wander around aimlessly. I have heard in sparring,he was fighting some fleet footed guy and was cutting off the ring well and also,I don't believe Malignaggi can run from Cotto the whole night,he is not good enough. Trust me,Miguel will catch him somewhere and even if he does not win via ko,I still envisage a points win.
This fight is intriguing me more because this is the one of the first few times Cotto will be fightin a slick boxer,so I'm interested to see how he deals with,he's faced bangers etc,it'll be interesting.
