One thing that has to be taken into consideration though, what physical gifts do you have? None of this is said in bragging but I personally have alot of natural speed, power, and coordination in my hands/feet, so everything I do is gonna revolve around that. And maybe this is just because I have limited training in Judo but to get in close, it seems like you take a chance on getting clawed, bitten, hell even someone attempting to grab ahold of your groin area which would probably be the end of you if they get the right grip. I'm not down with facial scars :). But say theres 3 people surrounding you, and they're bigger, very tough, and like to throw down. Once again this may be because of limited training in Judo but it would seem like all that stuff goes out the window when 3 people coming at you from all angles throwing strikes and trying to wrestle you to the ground. In a situation like that what makes sense to me is to create distance, actually start running away and seperate all the attackers from each other. Turn around then strike, create more distance and strike again. Of course you better be one for cardio excercises if you plan on using this tactic, but still just assuming the worst Judo doesn't seem like the best bet. Maybe 1 on 1 but unfortunately alot of real situations aren't fair.
