No roy would have never been able to beat tarver like hop did. Not saying roy can't beat him but people must understand it wasn't just the right hands that beat tarver. It was the way that hop was roughing him up that won that fight. Tarver wasn't ready for that type of fight. Once he saw how rough hop was i think he got scared. Imo tarver would have never been able to beat hop no matter when they fought. Roy would never fight that type of fight and thats what gave tarver the confidence to fight him the way he did. People try to descredit the win by saying tarver didn't show up. He showed up. Listen to the commentators in the beginning of the fight. Tarver showed up but i think he thought hop would run and fight him like he did eastman and taylor but when he started to come in on him in the 1st round he didn't know what to do.

How did Roy Jones Jr lack heart?
You all seem to forget that Roy actually FOUGHT at Heavyweight anc came back down and fought the light heavyweight champ at the guys weight class... AND WON.
And tarver filmed a movie, not even a real fight at heavyweight and came back down to fight a middleweight moving up to that weight class. And loses every single round.
Roy got more heart then he ever got credit for ;)

In 100 years nobody gonna care if roy jones was fighter of the year in 94,or if hop was fighter of the year in in 01. But they will talk about the titles and the records. When you look at it like that it might look a little different:

whoa in hundred years the books will read...roy was four time- four division world champion fighter of the decade in the nineties...and beat bernard hopkins....

i know he had heart back in the day .and he took his losses so i'm sure he still has heart YOUR RIGHT i' gonna modify what i said ....its just that RJJ doenst look like he wants to be there when he fights now

So toney moves up and beats iran barkley for the ibf strap and that made him universally recognized champ? Are you serious?
