Because Taylor seems to get the decision no matter how many punches you outland him with.
If you were a defending champion that valued his career...would you want to take your chances against that? Especially in said fighter's hometown?
Didn't think so.
I'd fight just about anyone to if all I needed to do was be standing after 12 rounds to be given the nod. A disgrace in boxing scoring tonight...
Yes I would and so does JT. because that is what being champion is about. taking chances and knowing you are putting yourself and your title at great risk. So far, JT has been a great champion. Going right to winky instead of dodging him. JT said he'd fight anybody, anytime and I believe the man.

So you have to take the belt from the champ... I guess you'd have to really take the belts from someone who has held them for a decade? Apparently not. JT never deserved the nod against BHop... that was way too close to go to JT. Tonight however Winky outdid Taylor much worse then BHop did. Winky outlanded him, dictated the pace and ring generalship of the fight, and many of Taylor's 'landed' punches were off the gloves.
A sad night in boxing. When they went to the cards I said to my buddy, "I will walk home if Winky doesn't win". That's 1.5 hour walk.. I was so sure Winky got it. But no.... I don't even know what to say.
No, whats sad is that people like you cant call an apple an apple. Youve got to try to convince someone its a basketball or your not satisfied. Waste of time and unknowlegable. I hope you had a long walk. That was your mouth that earned you the walk home, not the draw decision or JT.

What's sad is that you, an obvious JT supporter isn't even making the argument that Jermain was the one that was robbed...since you believe he clearly won the fight...because deep down you know he lost..and you're just happy to see him escape with the draw and keep his belts...

I dont think either fighter seperated themselves from the other in this match. People say, taylor didnt land puches, Bullshat. Thats not true. He snapped winky good many times in the fight. I thought it was a draw. I love taylor, but I call it like it is. I said it before they gave the scorecard. For me, theres nothing to argue about the draw. but there is something to argue if you say winky won, cause he didnt. It was a draw and thats what I personally had it too.

I don't agree with u there. I don't think u have to take the title from the champ. U simply have to win the fight........even if u win by one very close round. U stil win the fight and the title that comes with it. A champion shud not get the privelege of keepin his belt simply bcos he dint lose bad enough. A loss is a loss. It happened to b hop the 1st time he met taylor. B hop did nothin for the 1st 7 rounds n pretty much lost them all. Forget askin what did taylor do to win the title..........start asking what did b hop do to hang on to the title???
Re: j.t welcome to top p4p
I belive Taylor can´t box very well. many times he just stod against the ropes and took shots without moving his head. he´s going to be punished bad by someone like Edison Miranda or Amin Asikainen.

Winky won the fight..there is no way JT is the top p4p...end of discussion...

There is nothing to debate, Winky won the fight and the majority says it all, you say the the challenger has to take the title, the same is said about Taylor because in no way did he take the title from Hopkins. But in this case Winky did take the title from Taylor, but the judges gave it back. Taylor is the new Golden boy. I give him respect for being humble and respectful, he is a good guy but he should not be the Middleweight champ this morning.

wrong. lathan gave the last round to taylor. had she given it to wright, he would have won by split decision. had all three judges given R12 to taylor, it still would have been a draw (by majority rule). they talked about this at the end of the broadcast last night, and starr's posted the official scorecards on some other thread.

No, you don't have to "take it away from the champ".
Every fighter's obligation begins and ends at winning the fight. Having to dismantle a champion to win a title is a silly myth that has been prepetuated by insular boxing pundits.
If a fighter wins the fight, by 1 round or by 12 rounds, he wins the fight, title and whatever other accolade. That is how it is. That is how boxing is scored. There is nothing in the rules to suggest that you need to destroy a champion to win a title. And any judge who scores in such a way should be banned from ever judging again, in my opinion.

what i meant was he should of finish the fight convincingly leaving no doubt he wins...not giving any chance of losing one round or two just because he feels he has out scored the champ already...it was a mistake for winky having his corner already tell him to go out for the 12 rounds and fight taylor but he didn't listen...so he is at fualt for the draw not the judge not anyone but himself...

Taylor didn't fight the last round either. He had as much to fight for as Winky. If the fight hangs on the last round, it hangs on the last round for both fighters, not just the challenger. Winky just looked gassed to me in the last.

I don't know I was actually sober for this fight and it looked pretty even Taylor got the best of Winky in the middle of the ring and WInky got the best of Jermain on the ropes....You guys are all saddly mistaken if you think that Taylor didnt hurt Winky a few times in that fight Taylor was getting shots through the guard and side of the head I have never seen Winky get hit like that before, But again Winky was landing too it was not a screwing by anymeans at all!!! Jermain new he hurt Winky a few times and I think he was going to the ropes cause he knew that winky would open up on him and Jt was hoping he could counter with Winky's guard down..I thought it was a good fight I was satisfied with the draw....I say shame on each fighter they both had opportunities to break away in the later rounds and they didnt.....
I do believe though if Jt's eye wasnt closed by that headbutt his punch output in the last few rounds would have been better....If there is a rematch I got to go with Taylor I would think he would have learned a lot from this match
Re: j.t welcome to top p4p
Nothing is more selectively applied than the 'gotta take the man's belts' bullshit. Sick of hearing it. If a fight was a legit draw the champ keeps the belts anyway. Hopkins' belts weren't taken with any sort of authority and Taylor was beaten down at the end of the first fight but hose rules weren't applied. Hopkins landed all the big stuff in the 12th round of the second fight and couldn't get the round.
Taylor's lack of thug wannabeism is refreshing and he is a good fighter who's been competitive with a couple of the best P4P. He's also been very fortunate with his choice of promoters, networks and their choice of judges. How often will the dice get rolled and keep coming up this way?
