I am sorry, but, I feel McGirt was entirely wrong with the advice he gave to Julio...
Julio was behind, he didnt need to tell his fighter to NOT worry about the knock out, just keep working the jab...THE F****** JAB WASNT WORKING!!! Also, if your fighter is behind and you tell him that, yeah, go for the knockout....
WTF McGirt?? I really like the guy, but he threw me off course last night listening to him in Julio's corner...
Gratz to Quintana for a well fought fight!! Very Impressive...
BTW, Brock lost a little credibility with me last night...
He was cheating like crazy in the ring last night....Alot of that came from the fact that he couldnt woop up on the guy like he wanted to....Why as a pro do you have to stoop to that level as a fighter??? Shame on Brock for that kind of fighting...
I think in a rematch Timur would knock his a** out....
Good Luck all,
Coach
You make some excellent points about the Julio Corner ,
That Heavyweight fight set the already lack luster division back even more ! What absolutely boring fight that was . I would say they both looked like amateurs except amateurs are a hell of allot busier and more accurate with their punches , like you said all the illegal tactics, made it even more painful to watch

But the worst was when he tried to have Gatti outbox PBF. Freddie Roach is the best trainer today

Re: What the hell is up with Buddy Mcgirt
So far I have not been to impressed with McGirt. From what I have seen and heard with him am not sure he can really take a fighter places. His between round info/speeches seem like he is lost at thinking any alternatives to what is happening to his fighters. It seems like as long as his figher is doing well then he is OK, but if they encounter any trouble then he gets shaky.

But you fail to realise that Julio had been goin for the knockout since the third round. And he went for the knockout and Quintana would switch around and hit him with hard counters and have Julio backpeddling, Julio was looking for the knockout the whole fight and Quintana was countering him with hard shots. McGirt wanted Julio to settle down and try to go to the body and breakj Quintana down instead of stop him with one shot, which is what Julio was trying to do(stop him with one shot) and he got countered every time.

if Timor could have beaten Brock he would have done it. But once Brock clocked him he decided to hold. Timor doesn't have it either, Brock is WIDE open for Right hands whenever he lunges, and when Timor used his right hand he was effective but he decided not to do it and landed no more then 5 punches a round, if anyone lost credibility it was Timor. I understand your points on Brock but Timor should have been able to do something about it but he neglected and thats why his corner was on him
Re: What the hell is up with Buddy Mcgirt
Watched the fight Last nite and it seemed like Julio wasnt listnening to Buddy at all seemed like he was loading up all nite...Obvious language barrier I only know English so I couldnt tell you if anything buddy was saying could have gotten lost in the translation...The kid just looked like he was hell bent on staying with the same thing regardless of what Buddy was telling him which is a maturity thing(I know he is only 21)....
Prince Badju the dude fighting Roy Jones next month is trained by Buddy...Curious to see if Roy will lose 3 straight to Fighters McGirt trains..

Thats what I was saying, Julio wouldn't listen
Re: What the hell is up with Buddy Mcgirt
I agree julio wouldn't listen...maybe McGirt needs to become a more "in your face" kinda guy ala Atlas...but for the most part Buddy's still one of the very best, imo...

actually Emanuel Steward is still the best trainer today, Roach is in a very close second place

I think I'll pass, if those two get together again... I'm not so sure that HWs, outdoors in the middle of the summer heat is such a great idea, anyway.
