Being a bit flippant, the one I remember from the immortal Harry's commentary, was on Smith/Bruno...
"He (Bonecrusher) has hurt him with the right! Oh no it is Jumbo Cummings all over again, no... no.... NO!!!
Bruno came out with a classic in a fight at Elland Road between Henry Wharton and Fidel Castro Smith (Slugger O'Toole) midway though the 12th...
"If Wharton has won this, then there is something corrupt happening"
Your winner by decision... Henry Wharton!
I think Harry was the best, fiercly partisan in a way that they just arn't any more. Now professionalism seems to stop them from getting too involved in a fight, but with Harry he was a fan first, who just happend to be holding a microphone.
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
down goes frazier, to me, is the most exciting moment in comentating.
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
The best moment has to be after the decision was announced on Mosley Vs De La Hoya 2. George Formann went balistic on Larry Merchant after Larry said that is was not a big deal. " No Larry your wrong De La Hoya deserved this decision, your wrong you know about watching fights you no nothing about being in the ring.

CC back. They need to find someone else that can call Larry on his bullshit. Roy Jones, Emmanulle Steward, James Brown, etc have not done it. They need to bring Lennox Lewis in it, he can talk all night long.
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
"but this Klitschko guy, the fight is his...all he has to do is reach out and get it" George Foreman
Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis 6/03 Round 2

Lampley's call of the 10th round of Foreman-Moorer.
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
I know it's not boxing, but the coverage of the Apollo moon landings was supposed to be pretty dramatic?
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
tyson v spinks reg gutteridge saying at the start "incredible rise of the crowd" sounded all the better when reg said it
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
Reg Gutteridge was interviewing Sonny Liston in the 60's and Liston was being all truculent and intimidating. He went over to the doorway, put his shoulders in it and shrugged the whole frame out. He walked back to his seat and said 'I bet you can't do that, little man'.
Reg got out a penknife, cooly opened the blade, then rammed it an inch deep into his leg without flinching. Unblinking, he looked over at a wide eyed Sonny, and said 'I bet you can't do that'. Liston exited the interview, suitably abashed.
What he didn't know was that Reg had a wooden leg, suffered during the Normandy invasions.
I saw that on an old documentary about Reg, and the best thing was that they actually televised that interview at the time!!! Priceless

if my memory serves me correctly I believe that was the first Foreman-Frazier fight as Joe had not been down before and Big George made it look easy

Always liked his "Baby in a playpen" remark as Berbick was trying to rise again and again from that Tyson left hook.
Re: Most Dramatic Commentating Moment..
Anyone have the Tyson-Holyfield I with Bob Sheridan commentating on it? "EVANDER HOLYFIELD!!! EVANDER HOLYFIELD!!! EVANDER HOLYFIELD!!!" hahaha classic
