I'm big on Peter (Heh heh heh ;D ) but he really needs further work.
Your'e right...a new corner would be a gracious help.

Umm...I don't know if I am haha. I kind of hated that name but since I used it for everything, and since I didn't fully intend to stikc around here, I used it. I don't know maybe I'll change it later.
Re: Sam Peter Declares Himself Only Real Contender At Heavyweight
If Sam Peter beat the BOSS dude he could talk but he's not unbeaten is he? Until he beats someone thats the top of the division he can call himself a contender.
Re: Sam Peter Declares Himself Only Real Contender At Heavyweight
From my POV, anyone can claim to be the 'only' contender in the division, because fights between them are so rare, and each one is fighting bums to boost their record enough to become a mandatory for one of the belts. Boring, boring, boring, granted he looked fairly resilient against Wlad, and that might give him some more credibility than our friend Calvin Brock, I still don't think that there are enough contenders to make a proper judgement, and until he beats someone who is up there, then my judgement on him will be reserved, apart from the certain fact that he is a big talker and shameless self-promoter.
Re: Sam Peter Declares Himself Only Real Contender At Heavyweight
Calvin Brock is more of a contender then Sam Peter
Re: Sam Peter Declares Himself Only Real Contender At Heavyweight
Of course Sam is only a real contender at heavyweight he'd have to starve himself for years to get down to cruiser.
DUH!
Sam is not the only real contender...people forget Lamon Brewster is without a title right now

I don't think so. He gives anybody a tough fight. Even if he should be a level above them. He fights to the level of his opponent. But I don't think he'll ever be outclassed.
Re: Sam Peter Declares Himself Only Real Contender At Heavyweight
When Samuel Peter is on stage, he is electrifying. Not a heavyweight commands such respect. He should get contenders right and left... and guess what? He will KO them all. He's young, and I think he will improve. I doubt if Klitschko wants him again and he (i.e., Wladimir) is my favorite fighter (and scholar!). ::**
Re: Sam Peter Declares Himself Only Real Contender At Heavyweight
If Peter could learn to set up his power punches then he could really be a force. One thing I didnt like about him against Wlad was that he was throwing one punch at a time. He was trying too hard for the KO instead of just letting it happen. If he would have set up his punches better (ie using a jab, combos, etc...) he could rule the heavies.

I def think that the boy needs to learn the definition of the word "jab"! ;D
Then...once he learns what one is...the next step is: How to throw one...not how to eat one.

Wladimir will fight him again once Sam earns the title shot (the fight with Briggs was to pass time for the winner of Brock-Timor, however the Peter-Toney winner might get intrest too). Wlad beat him fairly easy the last time despite getting knocked down 3 times.
To be a true champ Sam is going to have to get the idea that he's a new Tua or Ibeabuchi out of his head. He doesn't have TRUE power the way everyone sees it, his hands are slow, and he can't jab worth a damn. Any good boxer will outbox him

Agreed ! Like Curtis told Ibabuchie, don't try and land one punch hard , just throw lots of punches and hit the chest , arms whatever is available , then you set up the big shot. .but Ibabuchie was in great shape. I keep saying this and it redundant but it’s a huge factor and that’s the weight factor, A 5'9 - 6”0 heavyweight is not going to be able to close the distance on these tall fighters unless they loses that fat. plain and simple, poor eating habits cement your feet, and don't allow the shorter fighter to get in close enough to do the work necessary to catch these tall guys. Example : David Tua at 228 was awesome combination puncher , an opponent could not hide. but David Tua at 256 is an easy opponent because he is reduced to just one punch at a time , he has to reset every time he throws a punch because his weight distribution is off. Also he slowed down by the extra weight , which does not allow him to close in .
