I guess Tyson's been fighting as a heavyweight ever since he got started (quickly skimmed a bio); but I can't imagine anyone could reach Mike Tyson's physique without any sort of weight training @ all.
Boxing is good for endurance and strength no doubt, but to put on size, unless someone has ridiculously good genetics, weight exercises generally aren't enough in regards to building physique (unless the goal is to stay lean).
Tyson was my build when he was 13... ;)
... and I am nearly 20 :P
what weight divison was tyson fighting at when he was an amatuer
Light heavy when he was younger and then heavyweight, not sure if he ever fought at super heavy weight or not.

It's just Tyson was naturally born with that physique (although i do remember reading that he did weights when he was younger at the centre)....hard work pays off, it would be easier than you think.
Mind you, if your an ectomorph and over 6 feet it would be extremly difficult because that's a very hard base to build muscle on.
But possible nonetheless
It's not possible for every one, fact... for starters only a select few people have a skeleton of that size and some people anabolic rates just won't allow them to develop that much lean muscle.
Hard work? Please :P easy with the right genetics maybe.
It's easy to develop mass and 'bulk up'. a cut look with lean muscle can only be achieved by a select few, sure you can go the 'supplement and sun bed route' where you basically pump your arms full of water but even then you would still only look like a poor man's Tyson... and that is of course assuming that you have the same frame.
Carlos Maussan is Tyson's height, nothing short of plastic surgery, bone implant ants, steroids and a team of experts working with him 365 days a year would get him looking anything like Tyson.
Like I said it is all about foundations and genetics, if you don't have the frame, metabolism and Anabolic rate than it won't happen.
That bloated would be muscular look that every body walks around with from miss using supplements and pumping a few weights is a piece of piss to get, actual lean muscle fibers are only available to those with the genetics to get it.
What does Tyson not being a body builder have to do with it? Genetics may be the main factor in body building but all athletes need good genetics. ;)
Quiet a high majority of people can at 5'10 can get a body like Tyson's......Ok, probably not ectomorphs like Maussa because that would be strecthing it.Quote:

Genes have a big part of it, but it dosen't mean everything...it just happens to mean that it would take you longer than a person with better gentics to gain muscle.
If you have a fast metabolism, then that means you have to eat alot more so your body is forced to gain weight..
And i don't you want you mean by the 'supplement and sun bed route' pumping your arms full of water....Almost everyone who lifts weights seriously uses supplements, to improve their gains.
Besides, Tyson didn't have the greatest physique anyway...
He was pretty big, but not that cut most of the time...This physique is achievable with consistentsy and hard work for alot of people at 5'10 (not all), i guess we just don't agree.

Well, you gotta know that at age 13, Tyson weighed 200 pounds, and could bench more then his own weight (although I think this is highly unlikely, I read this somewhere before)

Tyson was cut... we'll have to agree to disagree, I am talking about his physiques in terms of his strength, speed and power... the efficientness of his muscular mass, I get the feeling that what you are talking about is simply size, ie: cosmetics over athleticism ;)
It is achievable, but only with the right genetics... ;)
I know why people take supplements, what I am talking about are the miss users you get now days who train purely for cosmetics... so use supplements cosmetically... for mass. I can tell who is using supplements properly (if at all: basically eating right) just by looking at them... the same goes for people who use it simply for volumizing... they have that bloated look.
I'm simply talking about the would be body builder look it is trendy and easy to get you see every one getting in gyms.
