And that Mickey Ward fight put away any thoughts in my mind that he was a powder puff not to mention all these other guys he's beating ;) I think he's made up for it since he didn't make "the dive" his career.
I can appreciate what your saying , but once a fighter has taken a dive, what is to keep them from doing it at some other point in the future ? , see what I mean? how can you trust him ? To me its a deal breaker , one thing you know is that he is weak in the area of integrity , and once thats established someone with the right money knows they can broker a deal for theirfighter to knockout the Muff Diver ! So why would any boxing fan pay to see that person ever fight again. ?? Can you imagine paying to see a fight that has the history of a possible fix? Hell no ! It cant be trusted. Its very important to weed out that type of behavior, in the most strict manner possible, fines and permanent suspension
cool click ! I enjoyed the discussion Starr !
If he was ever gonna dive again wouldn't he have done it against Ward? ;) Have you seen the fight or just that clip? Watching the fight it was obvious he wasn't going to win he was pretty much being beaten up and dominated so he ended it. So I wouldn't call it a "DIVE" I would call it his way of getting out of a fight, unacceptable but still, he didn't make the dive his whole career, looking at the Mickey Ward fight do you ever think this guy is ever gonna do that again?

Yeah Wacko and when he decided to fight seriously like you WANTED him to fight and TKO'd Rangell you found reasons to fault him then too even though he fought the way you said he should ::**
Why don't you look at it this way, its his style, it works for him, it wins his fights and as you saw fighting serious he isn't nearly as effective. Aint it what Sturm just learned yesterday? Can't fight what the people want you to see? You fight with what works for you and when you're most effective? Augustus does that and fighting your way disadvantages him. it's his style, leave him to it, he's at his best when he does it so leave it at that. It works for him!
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
It took him what 11 rounds to stop Rangel? A fellow C level fighter. Yet he thinks HBO should use him to fight Vivian Harris.

Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke

Yeah I have seen lots of Augusta fights, and have been impressed with him over all.. like you said the Ward fight was a classic war. and others I had seen were all good competitive fights . he is always on ESPN classic showing vintage fights of his , so you know he brings it, I just never seen the dive clip till today ! very disturbing to see an obvious dive like that. at least walk into the punch and take it flush on the chin. LOL

You speak as if Vivian Harris is anything above a C fighter ;)
Are we talking about the same Vivian Harris that was knocked out by Carlos Maussa and who was beat down by Ray Olivera.. oh yea the same Olivera that Augustus beat ;)

Remember Harris coming into the ring after Tszyu defended his title, and he squared up to him and looked down at him from above with that stare. Tszyu paid him no mind, a week or so later Harris is moped off the canvas, I loved it !

I don't think much of Harris myself. But wins over Urkal and Hurtado are still more than anything Augustus has done. And it's funny how you say Augustus is constanly robbed, yet mention Olivera-Harris. Which was an obvious gift to Olivera.
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
What? You think Vivian Harris won that fight? :o

You know what? I got Harris-Olivera confused with Harris-Robinson. A draw that should of been a Harris win. My mistake. Still it don't changed the fact that Augustus is unworthy of an HBO date.
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Do you think Vivian Harris is more deserving?
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
I really like watching Emanuel Augustus fight, especially guys who are about on his level,... But I love how people say he gave Mayweather his toughest fight... NO way was that even a tough fight... Castillo and Judah both were actually competitive with him, I would say Carlos and Genaro Hernandez both gave him tougher fights as well.. Watch Augustus' fight with Floyd, he lands one left hook worth a damn the whole fight, and it's not like he has alot of power... Other then that he managed to dance around while getting tatooed, that's supposed to be a tough fight?
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Let me ask you. When have you ever seen Floyd bloodied before? ;)

He's not deserving. But he already has the slot.

Nah, man fuck you. Augustus is a hell of a fighter. Like Starr said watch his fights with Floyd Maywhether and Micky Ward. Floyd still says he is the tuffest guy he ever faced, and would defeat a lot of world champions. Augustus at his best is a very exciting fighter to watch with a lot of heart. It is weird that he would do that in a fight, but since then I have never seen him lay down or even come close. He is a better fighter than Vivian Harris and has faced and beaten better competition, so he is more than worthy of replacing him.
