Maybe he would but I think it's legit. He was out of his element, you could see it just on his ring walk and after round 1. He wasn't ready for a fight that big. He didn't really discredit him, he said it was an excellent performance but...I'm sure he was telling the truth. I mean it's a lot easier to say he got beat by a better man then say that he blew it and it was on him. I have thought from the night of the fight on that it was as much of a Lacy loss then it was a Calzaghe win. Still it was a masterful performance.
To be honest I dont really see him saying " I was beaten by the better man". He said he could have been beaten by any man. Thats a small token of respect.
I wanna see Jeff do well, but to say any man could have beaten him that night does not bode well for the future....he needs to solve that defence..,.
Agree on the defence. But when he says any man could have beaten him, I think he was alluding to him being burnt out. It was his first ever big fight and...he just wasn't ready. Oh well, he'll be back and I think he'll get another fight with Calzaghe somewhere down the line and I still think he beats Calzaghe. Call me dellusional but Calzaghe fought Lacy's fight on the inside last time. It was just that Lacy was nothing more then a punching bag standing in front of him. Won't be the same a second time. Of course he needs 4 or 5 fights before a Calzaghe rematch is even discussed but I think it will happen.
I hope there is a rematch in the future. And though I will be supporting Lacy all the way in his comeback. When it comes to a fight with Joe, you know where I will display my loyalties.
I think Lacy can rule the division, but a victory over Calzaghe will not play a part in it...

Kind of wierd that we say one of the most lopsided 12 round shut outs in the history of boxing and we're talking about a rematch ;D

The thing is that Lacy was awesome, and most people thought he would mutilate Calzaghe. it just happened to be that the hottest young US star got beaten by a welshman....
Lacy needs a lot of work and to be honest he should stay away from Joe for at least 2 years, and even then only if Joe is still around then...
Re: Jeff Lacy: “I am coming back to dominate”
Like I said before you dont have to question this kids Heart, Power, Courage, Tenacity and will...A few refinements and this kid has all the tools be top flite for years to come...
The fact that he was fatigued goes without saying, he was an extremely active champion he was fighting every 3 months....
Hey like I said before the ones that think to much of themselves and believe there own hype are the ones that never recover Mentally from a beating....Lacy is Humble and Mature

I think he will be a top 10 p4p fighter, and I think he will be a multi division champion and I've got bashed for this before, but I still think he can KO Calzaghe. I wouldn't mind a break til next year because of his activity up until the Calzaghe fight. Can't wait to see him back in the ring.
CC, too many fans leave a fighter if he loses a fight, Lacy's still an exciting fighter whether he lost or not.
Will he dominate? I don't know but I think he'll probably stop Green and he deserves a LOT of credit for taking that as the comeback fight.

He might be, but I definitely think he is as good as he showed himself in the Lacy fight. I mean, I think if there is a rematch, Calzaghe is going to have to be better then he was in the first fight. Ok, not better, smarter. He stood in front of Lacy all night, capitalize that night. fought Lacy's fight but Lacy just didn't have the tools to on March 4. I think he will put his punches together in a rematch. I think he'll do everything better. He had Calzaghe in front of him all night. Just didn't capitalize. I would like to see what he would do given a second chance.

Anyone notice who posted this? Seems to be some spelling and grammar errors. Is the writer of this story not so good with English or is the poster
ROYAL and made a few 'minor' changes to the article? :detective:
But its a positive look at lacy's comeback and there is no talk of kessler!!
Perhap our good friend Royal is using the 'devide and conquer' strategy. He post this positive article on JL , yet it seems to have JL not give JC credit. So you have to ask yourself this: Why would Royal post a seemingly good article on JL when we all know he hates him 1. because hes black 2. because hes American. Look back to his last post on JLs return. "Really? Who cares....blah blah". He dosent mention Kess because he thinks us, of lower genetics , might catch onto his ploy to take over! So now he pits the JC fans against the JL fans all in an attempt in to further his quest for 'saddo domination'!!! We must form an allegence against this evil before its too late!!! :army:
Anyway, did anyone see Holy vs Tyson 1? Holy beat his ass. So why did Holy vs. Tyson 2 happen? Because it was hard to believe Tyson got his ass handed to him. Much like hardly anyone thought JC would win. Id like to see JC vs. JL part 2.

Regardless of what Lacy says do you really believe he wants to fight Calzaghe again?
He can say whatever he wants, now, theres not a hope in hell of there ever being a rematch
I like Lacy, I hope he comes back and shows what a good fighter he is and that he lost because he was facing an exceptional champion.

As a follower of Lacy, I rally do. I really do beleive everything that comes out of his mouth in regards to the Calzaghe fight. The guy took what Calzaghe had for 12 rounds and after the fight was fairly repulsed when Jim Gray asked if he wished the fight would be stopped. I have no doubt in my mind he wants to prove himself again. But even he knows that Calzaghe doesn't have to give him a rematch and there would be no complaints if he didn't. Even if Lacy dominates 175 or 168 for a while, Calzaghe doesn't have to give him a rematch.

Re: Jeff Lacy: “I am coming back to dominate”
I am Huge Lacy fan. I believe what he says about the calzaghe fight. There was alot of pressure being put on him! The nerves got to him and made him weak on fight night. LACY WAS SUPPOSED TO COME TO ENGLAND A FORTINIGHT BEFORE THE FIGHT. HE CAME ONE WEEK BEFORE, SO HIS BLOOD/BODY WASNT USED TO THINGS. i believe his worse nightmare came true on that night, no fighter wants to get embarrased or dominated like that!
I have 21 of lacy's fights, and i noticed that he has a good defensive reputoire when he uses it. But he gets hit alot by ordinary guys cos he is usually concentrating on offense. he has very little head movement. This guy is a Power/Pressure fighter, if he gets his defense good, i feel sorry for his opposition. i still feel he could KO calzaghe. Lacy is a slow starter, he always will be, but once the fight goes on, he becomes stronger, and once his opponent is worn out by running around he usually finishes em!
I noticed Jeff was getting hit quite a bit early on in his career by silly shots, but then in some fights like the richard grant fight he showed some good defense! If he improves his defense he will come back and put the fear of God in other fighters hearts! he will dominate...i hope he does!
Go Jeff, You have our SUpport!!!
Re: Jeff Lacy: “I am coming back to dominate”
I believe Lacy will come back with a vengeance,I believe that he was in there with a man(JC) who is light years ahead of everyone else in the division and I think Jeff can beat everyone else. I'd like to see him go after the other champs(prob Kessler after he unifies with Beyer) and then,in a year,if JC is still about...who knows?? He hs alot to work on but also has alot of positives like his power, determination etc and dam,the boy has a HECK of a chin! Didn't JC land like 1,000 times????
Usually,I would say it as a load of crap about not being himself etc but alot of my hardcore Lacy friends said at the beginning of the fight they did not think it was Jeff in there. Not that the outcome may hav been much different but I would have lied to see Jeff land a few times cleanly!!
Whomever his next opponent maybe, they better be prepared!!
Re: Jeff Lacy: “I am coming back to dominate”
Jeff Lacy is a forward fighting pressure fighter, but he is also a very methodical fighter. he adapts as the fight goes on. He paces himself early, then explodes later on. He has all the qualities to become a GREAT Fighter!
One thing i didnt agree with what lacy said was, He said he needs to have more gaps between his fights. why? James toney back in the days didnt have alot of rest between fights! if he has more years like 2004/2005 fight wise, then he could dominate for years to come, HE NEEDS TO STAY BUSY....NOT TWO FIGHTS A YEAR!
Re: Jeff Lacy: “I am coming back to dominate”
Jeff Lacy never needs to fight Joe Calzaghe again...EVER.
People that still believe Lacy can beat Calzaghe...well...then you need to see more Calzaghe fights.
Lacy bulls in constantly & that plays right into Calzaghe's game plan.
It amazes me how some peeps still under rate him after the beatdown he dished out.
Calzaghe's natural abilities are one step above Lacy's. Don't get me wrong...I'm a Lacy fan...but I'm a Calzaghe fan also...bottom line is that Joe is faster & shows more angles than just straight ahead & swinging for the fences.
Lacy needs to dominate on the back burner & wait on Joe to retire.
