Evander is really going to get hurt if he fites top 10 material IMO. I hope he takes this win and just calls it a day.

Unfortunately there is no chance of that. He is going to take this victory and say that it shows he still belongs in the ring. Maybe against that level of fighter but not much higher up.

Top 10 material in the Heavyweight division is shit at best ! Evander would beat anyone in the Top Ten, now that Evander Shoulder has been operated on and is all healed up, I think he owns this weak ass division. No disrespect to the the Current Heavyweight Champions, they done a fantastic job getting to the top and winning titles . But Evander takes them all down. Including Wlad, and I think Wlad is the Best out there right now. I think Holyfield would stop Maskeav , and Valuve.. The WBO Champion Serguei Lyakhovich and Wladimir Klitschko would be the only real threats .
Re: Evander victorious...................................So what? ? ? ? ? ?
He still needs a few fights to shake of 2 years of rust , maybe Gutierrez and the Brian Minto by the end of the year to work on things and also to get the buzz going , and then he will be ready for a Calvin Brock in March 07 , then Maskeav or Valuve in the Summer of 07 . ;)
Re: Evander victorious...................................So what? ? ? ? ? ?
i think the only shot he has is to try and outbox a guy like maskaev. wlad is too big and strong for a 43 yr old holyfield. i would like to see him take on another journeyman, but one we know.
Re: Evander victorious...................................So what? ? ? ? ? ?
Maybe Mesi's claim to fame could be that the first to beat him was the great Holyfield.
Re: Evander victorious...................................So what? ? ? ? ? ?
Holyfield's left shoulder has been operated on three times to repair rotator cuff damage. It didn't heal properly, and that affected his ability to jab and to land strong combinations in previous fights.
Re: Evander victorious...................................So what? ? ? ? ? ?
It looks like Holyfield's next fight is with Samil Sam (26-3, 15 KOs) who is ranked No. 5 by the WBC ,by the end of the year. the fight will be overseas .

Yep, and get this--it's "almost certainly" ON PPV!!!

According to the Associated Press, 43 year-old Evander Holyfield will try to use the same stepping stone that 37 year-old Oleg Maskaev walked through on his way to 25% of the heavyweight championship. The Associated Press says Hoyfield, who just beat Jeremy Bates in Dallas on Friday, will fight next against Sinan Samil ("Triple S") Sam, a German-based Turk with a 26-3 record, who somehow is still rated fifth by the WBC after losing to Maskaev in a WBC eliminator. "It'll likely be in November and almost certainly on pay-per-view," wrote the Associated Press.
