He can fight backfoot(abdullaev,Ndou)
Front foot (most fights)
Great body shots
has lateral movement but can bang too
Has fought bangers(Torres,Pinto)experinced fighters and ex champs(bailey,Corley etc),undefeated prospects and boxers(Malignaggi),Olympians(Abdul) etc etc That's a very very good resujme which just needs the big names and as for not havinbg a good chin:
He was fighting Torres who had a 98% KO ratio and the knockdown was a push,he took the rest of the punches clean which showed he has a great chin +but poor D in that fight)
and Corley,he got caught on the temple, nothing to do with the jaw,and Corley has also shaken Mayweather.
Need I go further bro??
Majety, when Maracho comes on,ask him for the link man!
YOU CAN GO ON FOR HOURS BUT FACT IS he is still overrated!!!!! and why are you making excuses for his poor perfomances?????....Where do I ever mention Hatton and compare the two? so why are you sitting there comparing them in defense of Cotto?....Get over it Cotto is an average boxer with Power and THATS IT!!!!!!.....As for Hatton since you seem to have this complex about him when speaking of Cotto....He is nothing more than a punch macHine with no defense and limited speed who was Lucky in his bout with Colozzo. He will get killed the first time a guy with speed that is a hit and run fighter...Hatton also has a limited jaw he has been down against fighters not even in the top 10...Happy I also said what I think of Hatton so you dont have to think I am picking on Cotto....
What top caliber fighter has Cotto fought? What dangerous fighter in his prime. Has he fought and beat? What fighter on the P4P or in the P4P in the P4P has he faced? Wins over Torres, Corley, Magliaggi, N'Dou? Not great prime guys...Magliaggi hasnt reached his prime...Fight Hatton,,,Mayweather when they were both 140..Hatton is coming back to 140...Hell Gatti at 140,,,Margarito at 147,,,Mosley,,,Baldomir,,
I don't even need him to win to make me a believer just a good showing...I say he beats Gatti but he will have to fight hard against a guy who has been in with the best...ANYTHING...his resume is not great...the top guys he beat were top notch befor Cotto
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
Cotto would beat Urkal easily IMO.
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
I used Hatton as a comparison to his nearest rival....and I don't see excuses for poor performances, those are facts..where is there an excuse? He went down to a guy with 98%KO ratio and it was a push, where's the excuse in there?it's a FACT! ::**
As for what guys has he faced that are P4P,if you read properly,I said that he needs the big name and the only fighters that are P4P are around him are Hatton who is a weight class lower and Floyd, who's busy. If that is all you use to define what a good fighter,if he's beaten somone P4P then you must hardly like any boxers....
And I don't understand what you are saying,if it's that you have not seen Cotto perform well, then I'm sorry but that is a load of BS. Like I said, all those guys he fought are good, decent fighters with excellent records, heck P4P PBF has fought 2-3 of them himself!!
Cotto is a young fighter, great talent, has fought good opposition and has a good future ahead of him.He is being brought up slowly and I agree he needs a big name but the ones you mentioned:
Gatti(prob retires)
Hatton(at 140,COTTO IS AT 147)
PBF(busy)
Baldo(Cotto's camp spoke to,he decided to fight PBF)
Margarito(no one with a reputation on the line wants to fight the Tijuana Tornado and Arum wouldn't make this fight!)
Mosley(taking rest of the year off)
You have not pointed out a single thing that is over rated, all I hear is who has he beat P4P,is that all your argument is? That's weak.

Give it up IMO he is over rated too bad if you dont like it....im not the only one who thinks so....your not getting the job as his press agent so forget it
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
Fair enough, you think he is over rated without a particular reason why,not my problem,as I pointed out, your arguments were weak....but each to their own.
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
Cotto, IMO is far from overrated. What has he done wrong? You can see vast improvements in his technique every fight.
He is undefeated, Who is there left at 140 that would have made you believe he is not overrated? I am very impressed with him, it's not just his power, it's also his intellegence in the ring, his timing and his movement. So I guess the question is, if he is overrated, who do you rate higher at 140?

I agree bro, Cotto's the #1 Jr. Welter in the world just behind champion Hatton. I'd definitely rate him higher than Castillo or Witter.

Ok I read your list Hatton, PBF, Margarito, Mosley, Gatti.......are you saying that these guys have fought competition in their prime??
Hatton - fought Kostya Tszyu at the end of his career
Gatti - fought Ward when he was at the 50 fight mark, sure he fought a prime PBF, but I wouldn't exactly say it was a
good showing
Margarito - I'm failing to think of a notable prime name.
PBF - #1 p4p probably will never give Cotto a fight
Mosley - sure he beat ODLH, and Vargas....I'll give you that, but he isn't going to fight Cotto either, there is nothing for him to gain there.
There really isn't an apples to apples comparison here. I don't think anyone is saying Cotto is approaching #1 p4p or anything like that, but he is an incredibly solid fighter at 140 and I think he will do better at 147 and by the end of next year he should be fighting the elite names. Maybe then you will be convinced.

Cotto had tough moments against the Torres and Corley, thats it.= and against Corley,it was his intelligence that could him out of trouble. What makes Cotto over rated? Cotto won't fail like Hatton did because he has more skill imo.
Too much Hype with too little...To back it up....Please give me examples of his boxing skill? Other he can hit hard...IMO his jaw isn't all that good..Just IMO
Watch his fight against Mausa ( a boxing lesson, unlike what we saw with Hatton) and his devastation of Sosa. Here are some of his fights in youtube.com To tell you the truth, IMHO I think that Hatton is more overrated.

By the way Quintana stated in primerahora.com (PR newspaper), that he is not planning to step aside for Cotto to fight Urkal.
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
what a fight it would be.
Edge to Cotto due to boxing ability.
Late TKO. 8)

You talking about a Quintana/ Cotto bout? Man that'd be choice. I don't know tough call there for me. I think Quintanas southpaw stance my give Cotto some trouble & lead Quintana to a decision win.
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
I love Cotto but this kid Quintana has good Boxing ability also the fact that he is a southpaw gives me doubt to pick a Winner and most part is the weight issue for Cotto since is gonna be his first fight at that weight with a southpaw that has good boxing ability and is Bigger and stronger than Torres. hmmmm ???
Cotto is a smart boy he can pull a UD but has to try not brawl too much ( a guy la Quintana you have to smother him a bit a couple of times to take him out of his game)
Re: COTTO VS. URKAL FOR THE WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE!!!
Cotto would knock da shit out of Urkal. Cotto has a big heart! Urkal become every time nervous when he is in trouble and it seems that he becomes every time frightend when he is in trouble. Cotto by Ko in first few rounds.
