What truly seperates the greats is their ability to recover. Ali showed amazing powers of recovery, although he was saved by the bell in his first fight with Cooper. :P
Still there arn't many able to absorb punisment more than him.
I think George Foreman is definitely up there and Evander Holyfield.
I know Ali's was great at recovering and he had loads of heart which is why he could get up off
the deck and win, but fighters like Tito did the same! Ali was a great fighter and possibly no1 Heavy of all time but imo his chin was not the greatest
Re: Heavyweight Boxing's 10 Greatest Chins
How can Ike Ibeabuchi even be mentioned with the fighters on this list? The guy only had 20 fights and only one was against a guy who could punch, Tua. Ali was in with Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, Norton, and Liston. These are 5 of the most feared punchers in boxing history. And anyone who thinks Ali didn't take punishment because of good defense is totally naive. If that were the case, he wouldn't be walking around the way he is now.

Actually the best chin in the heavies right now probably goes to James Toney
Ill agree with u there, for a guy who started at Middle to be able to mix with the heavys
and take the punches is pretty impressive!
Re: Heavyweight Boxing's 10 Greatest Chins

I think Chuvalo had the best chin. The ones not mentioned on the list, Tua and Vitali Klitschko had great chins too.

Didn't Holyfield knock Mercher down?
Re: Heavyweight Boxing's 10 Greatest Chins
Personally i would have Marciano higher on that chin list. Everyone goes on about level of comp watever but boy then fighters still had a pop in there punches.
Re: Heavyweight Boxing's 10 Greatest Chins
Corry Sanders had a very good chin against Vitali Klitschko.

Scary ;D
You need some good reasoning to keep McCall out of any greatest beards list.
Re: Heavyweight Boxing's 10 Greatest Chins
Ali (always got up, never counted out)
Chuvalo (never off his feet and Fought the biggest hitters in history)
"Two Ton" Tony Gallento ( you guys forget him?)
Ray Mercer ( took the best from Morrison, LL, and was avoided by most when in his prime)
Foreman (Ali took his heart and soul, that kept him down)
David Tua (Ike, LL, Oleg couldn't even phase him)
Bonavena (only TKO'd once by Ali in the 15th)
Gene Tunney (forget the long count, never KO'd)
Larry Holmes (only at 38 and a 2 year layoff could he be KO'd)
Frazier (only Foreman Stopped him by TKO)
honorable mention....
Randall Cobb (ridiculous chin, only a round 1 KO to Dee Collier "wtf?!?!"... keeps him from number one)
Re: Heavyweight Boxing's 10 Greatest Chins
IMO I think a prime Holyfield should be number one. He could take some shots.
