he would NOT be considered g.o.a.t. imo
but its hard to say that having won world titles in 4 different weight classes without ever losing a fight is a "waste of talent"
Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
You really need to see the interview & see what was said & how it was said.
As far as for him being great. Personally...I think a shitload of people are just out there to break out the pitchfork for Floyd...nothing wrong with that I suppose.
Floyd's not God almighty...& again...he knows better than to put stock in being better than Ali...but Floyd is the best of our generation...win, lose, or draw...Floyd brings great fights & excitement.
He was just going at BK again.
Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
Yes, Mosley is a real star. Oscar.... beyond a star.
Hatton, no. He's my favorite fighter though. ;)
Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
"The Best Ever" is a huge mouthful. Although PBF's mouth is plenty big..... I'm pretty sure most of the civilized world would agree that those three words are a bit much even for him, right now.
Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
He might be the best ever for all we know.
Just hasn't proved it yet.
I suggest we craft an open letter to PBF from saddoboxing. Something that tells him what he needs to accomplish before we will agree with him.
It can't be hater material, obviously. Haters can make suggestions, but not directly edit material ...
It also can't dictate only one possible route; it needs to respect his options and freedom.
But recognizing that he considers himself the g.o.a.t. - let's give him some clear ideas of why we are not able to agree with him at this time, and what it would take for us more or less to be persuaded. (Not that it would be an absolute; it would always be arguable; but to legitimize his claim to the point that it is arguably true - what would it take?)
Let's do a great job with it, and perhaps get it noticed and mentioned by the boxing media - at least, some of it.
And maybe even by PBF.

Cotto beats PBF at 147.
Cotto will beat the man that PBF fears too. Margarito.
Thee End.
I know what you guys are thinking. We have never seen Cotto at 147. You all might not have but I have. Prophecy! ;D
Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
Floyd is a good fighter (I have him 2 pfp after pacquaio) but he's got a long way to go before he's manifested his legacy. Great fighters are made from great fights. Where is Floyd's statement fight? Floyd's greatet moments have said "I'm here" instead of "This is MY game". His biggest win was a steady but unspectaular performance against the consistently disapointing Zab Judah.
Is there anyone you'd like to see knocked tf'ing f out more than this guy? (ok other than Judah). He's a wife beater and his excuse was that she was messing with his material possesions that he worked so hard for. He comes into the ring with a robe that says "philthy rich records" which is a record company that he started. He's such a prolific label tycoon that philthy rich hasn't released one record.
The greatest fighter of our era is Bernard Hopkins period.
and lastly, remind me again what IMO means? (trying to keep up).

You hit it right on the nail! CC Lyle, you know he's working with his special Solar Plexus punch. Pulled it off against Mitchell, did not see that much against Zab though. Maybe a little more refinement and that would be his specialty punch. I mean a perfect blow to the solar plexus can produce serious damage.

James Toney is just as great as b-hop or greater!! i think greater :)
Anyways, Who did you say was a wife beater, mayweather or judah?

Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
PBF talking nonsense and making a fool of himself once again, nothing new ALTHOUGH if he beats the guys Lyle mentioned,he would be one of the best ever for sure!
How his legacy turns out is entirely up to him,if he persists in fighting purely for money and fighting guys like Spinks etc then he needs to shut the F up about Ali,SRR etc but if he really cares about the legacy,he'll take Hatton etc.
Also,I could not care less about the multiple titles in weights,he did not always win the RING title soooo......

I wish PBF would just shut up and show us why he is "so great" in the ring. He needs to start doing his talking inside the ring against an opponent that can put up a fight against him. I am getting so tired of hearing how "great" he thinks he is. Just get in the ring with an elite fighter and prove it to us. I lose more and more respect for PBF the more I hear from him.
Re: Mayweather-"If I Retired Today, I'd Go Down as the Best Ever."
WOW!
See what happens when you guys don't do research and just base your opinion on what somebody told you someone else said? It was on ESPN friday night fights, was nobody here watching it?
He said "If I retire today I would go down as the best"
Kenny asked him if he was sure about that (or something to that effect)
Then Floyd said "I can't take anything away from Ali or Robinson, but I didn't fight in their era. I'm fighting in my own era. Of course I think i'm the best. If you're a boxer and you DON'T think you're the best, get out of the sport right now."
