Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
i thought johnson won it, he landed more power shots and kept backing woods up but woods stole the last few rounds

Neither deserves a technical decision after the fight to mar either performance.
I think the IBF should mandate Woods/JohnsonIV, that would seem fair, and I would be up for it!
Another bout between the 2 would be a fair decision....would mean Calzaghe continues to wait for a big fight though..
I would be more than happy for Calzaghe to fight the winner of Kessler: Beyer though...
Calzaghe would be mad to fight Woods.
A) It would be a potentially tricky fight
B) No one outside of the UK would care about it, it wouldonly be a biggish fight in the UK.
Kessler and Beyer would be even worse! Who but hardcore fans,Danes and Germans has heard of these fighters?
A big fight for Calzaghe now is Jones or Hopkins...
Maybe Wright or Taylor could be considered big, butJones or Hopkins would probably a lot easier and bigger fights than either Winky or Jermain.
Naw man, the fight between the winner of Kessler Beyer is not about who he's fighting against as much as it is to crown him the undisputed king of SMW, if there are two fighters, both with two of the big 4 belts, then that will always give historians ammunition to fire at Calzaghe's legacy, so from my POV, i think one of his last two hasto be against the winner of that fight. As for RJJ and Hopkins, RJJ is washed up, his win against Ajamu didn't fool anyone, and I don't think he hasa future as a true major world title contender. As for Hopkins, he's probably nursing his arthritis these days, he just seems to be a little too old to come out against Calzaghe, and it'll never make the money that he would demand to come out of retirement.
And as for Calzaghe against Woods, I'd be fairly pleased for a fourth woods/johnson, while Calzaghe beats (probably) Kessler, and then a light heavy shot as his boxing swansong.

i agree with you 100%
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
It didnt work for Judah though did it
Re: ***Glen Johnson camp cries foul!***
Close fight, but I thought Johnson should've gotten the UD.
I saw the ref yelling "Get Down, Get Out" to the corner near the end of Round 11.
If Woods corner did get on the canvas I think the IBF MUST call this a at least a NC and demand a rematch.

No Calzaghe is THE World Champion, he won the vacant title when he fought Jeff Lacy as #1 and #2 contenders to the Championship.
Kessler is merely a virtually unknown #1 contender, that Calzaghe would gain nothing worthwhile from, if he fought him.

Yes, his intensity and rough tactics would cause Calzaghe problems, and he is the bigger fighter. Joe has nothing to win and everything to lose fighting Woods. If I was Joe I would look for the more lucrative and possibly easier bouts against Jones or Hopkins.
After all Calzaghe is getting no younger and IMO only has one or two excellent fights in him...
Ok, I was already shaking my head in disagreement when you said that a fight (for JC) against Hopkins would be easier than a fight against Taylor or Wright, but now you're saying that Hopkins would be an easier fight than Clinton Woods?? I would actually pick Hopkins to BEAT Calzaghe if they fought right now. I'm not sure I'd say the same thing about Wright (that one's a 50-50 for me), I wouldn't say the same thing about Taylor, and I DEFINITELY wouldn't say the same thing about Woods. I think Hopkins would be without a doubt the toughest potential fight for Calzaghe (and I don't think Calzaghe could win it). I don't see Hopkins coming out of retirement for anything less than a $20M payday though, and Jones II is the only fight that could potentially get up there.

I said 'possibly easier'
And the fact is, if he fought Hopkins, it would like you suggest, for a ton of money, a darn sight more than Calzaghe/Woods, so even in defeat Calzaghe wins in a financial sense, that he would not in a Woods fight; thus my comment.
But if I was Joe, I would be holding out for the real cash cow; Roy Jones. The easiest big fight on the table, with the most money available; a win, win for everyone. ;)

I disagree with you here Britkid. Whoever wins between Beyer and Kessler would be a double world champion making a unification fight with Calzaghe a huge fight.
How often do we see a 'genuine' unification where all four belts (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO) would have been on the line.
I'm sure you being Britkid could tell me the date, venue and outcome of the fight but you know what I'm saying. :P
Mormeck vs O'Neil Bell was a big unification but it didn't count the WBO, Jermain Taylor only holds 3 world title belts as I understand it.
I don't think there is currently a truly undisputed champion at any weight right now.
So a unification fight with either would be huge for Calzaghe.Victory would affirm him as the greatest supermiddleweight of all time.
It's hands down the best fight out there for Calzaghe.
